  1. Good luck with the recovery. Hope the Harley is fixable. Pushbikes are my thing - someone opened a car door on me a couple of years back and I went over the top of it and smashed up my right hand. Took a while, but its good as new now.
  2. Hi All. Building a P Bass and intend to use an old Bill Lawrence EB60 pickup I bought in the 1980s and never used (quick off the mark, ain't I?). Lost the wiring diagram ages ago. It has 3 wires - red, soldered to the back plates (assume a ground) and black and white - one from each half. Suggestions for wiring? Thanks.
  3. BluRay's advice good. Keep it modular. I do like 15s, though, but I'm old skool. I use a 2x10 + 1x15, with an extra 1x15 for large stages/silly volumes. Most important is to use sufficient amplifier power. I use an add on/slave power amp for the additional cabs. Means the rig isn't straining.
  4. You have to learn the rules first, so you know which ones you can break/bend and when. Otherwise, it's just a mess. "Creativity" often used to cover up for sloppiness, imho...
  5. Everything's faked these days. Online selling makes it easy for scammers. If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
  6. keefbaker's hit the nail on the head, I think. If I play the things I want to play, with people I enjoy playing with, I'm happy not to make much - I used to play for a living , but have a decently paid day job these days. But if I'm expected to play music I can't stand/have played to death and put up with drunks/nonsense, it ceases to be fun and I expect to be paid for my trouble.
  7. Gotta be 15s. Several of 'em. I know, I know. Modern 2x10s and 2x12s are supposed to give it sufficient wellie, but they just don't, OK.
  8. Alex, you're being too sensible.
  9. You can use it for welding too if need be
  10. Yum, yum. Shame it's post Christmas and I'm skint.
  11. Frequencies that low may cause an unfortunate commotion in the old trousers... Probably best avoided
  12. Fusion are selling the F1 for £100 delivered as it's being discontinued. Mine arrived today (24 hour delivery). Excellent bag.
  13. Don't think you're being unreasonable. But if the others want to do it, say you're happy for them to get in a dep' for you. No mileage in going through the arguments about timing, lights, etc, etc. Just side-step the job if you're not happy.
  14. I can recommend Jack's, too.
  15. Interesting issue, this. I've learnt that the sound I like on stage isn't the one that sounds best in the room when everyone is playing. Agree with suggestions to check with a wireless/long lead (NOT curly, unless you want to pull your amp over) whilst the band is playing (you can't hear how it blends otherwise).
  16. Much good advice here already. The only issue I can think you might have is if there is large difference in the efficiency of the different cabs.
  17. The best drummer I ever worked with (serious pro' - won't drop his name, but some would recognise it) carried a metronome. Before the start of a number, he'd listen to it briefly (we'd agreed tempos at rehearsals), give us two bars with his sticks and job done - perfect starting tempo every time. If he wasn't too proud to check the tempo, nobody else should be.
  18. More to it than a vehicle's age. Mine's 18 years old BUT has only done 46,000 miles. No point in changing for the sake of it.
  19. I fell in love with the 5 string many moons ago. Check out some of Bela Fleck's stuff.
  20. As others suggest, a lot amps don't turn up well. Master on 7 is pushing it for many. You need to move air for a clean fat bass sound, which needs wattage and driver square footage. Guitar players are often OK with smaller kit because they like an overdriven sound. Try an add on cab and slave amp?
  21. BBE? I have an old 383, which I like a lot. The newer BMax looks decent and isn't that pricey.
  22. I agree with Rhys and BottomE. I adjust by feel. Interestingly, I've found different instruments don't feel the same, even with the same setup, string gauges, etc (and I mean the same models/scale length and so on). My 3 Fenders all feel different.
  23. Heil PR40 a great mic. Around £290 in the UK - not a lot for what it can do.
  24. At the end of Get Back, I believe.
  25. Good decision. It's a lovely bass - you'd kick yourself if it didn't come out right (and you'd knock a hole in the resale value, too).
