  1. Surprised to hear BCers still downloading music files to their phones. Assumed the opportunity to have so much at your fingertips on Spotify / streamed would be where most were at ..
  2. Ha fair enough. Meant nothing personal by it btw - just sad to hear anyone thinking like that
  3. Loving the leather strides
  4. Nice bass! Not often you see different colour pickups. Do Lakland pick up the cost of repair?
  5. Overwater Scott Devine J bass has a reduced body, and 33 scale. Not cheap though.
  6. Ah man that's some bonkers conspiracy theory stuff right there. Very little in life where it's going to hurt you to know more - other than maybe how sausages are made.
  7. The short answer is a fat No - but there is a small something in where you're coming from. The traditional classical route prizes replication over composition, and less with improvisation. Worth saying this isn't some high horse that 'non trained' musicians get to look down on classical players from, many people in covers bands can't write or improvise either - and theres nothing wrong with that.
  8. Yeah my point was really - it's amazing / depressing how what started as some small gripes has turned into a massive drama, when it didn't need to.
  9. Back when this all began - there wasn't actually much wrong with the bass..
  10. Yep signed. Would argue you don't need the intro price, folk will be happy to support BC.. Given value I get from site vs Advert intrusion, nothing comes close..
  11. Interestingly Private Eye is one of the rare UK successes of recent years, one of the few to increase circulation..
  12. There's way less titles, and those still in print are almost all in decline, many of them terminal. Q's circulation in 2000 was 204K. When Bauer announced it was closing in May in was limping along at 28K. Sadly just not selling enough copies to support the operation needed to make it worthwhile. Q readers from 2000 aren't buying other magazines, they're not buying magazines at all. See also, most regional newspapers.
  13. Ah man, that’s not good. Out of interest - how was the B unplayable, and what would the fix have been - had they taken the bass back?
  14. Hasn't died because of the content. It's died because it's a magazine.
  15. Sessionette100 4x10 back in the early 90's, really great onboard compressor.. got me sounding less terrible through lots of slap gigs..
  16. Great to meet you brother! I’m almost phobic about them, revolting things
  17. Bow quoted me £300-350 for a J bass refin in burst / poly, incl strip and rebuild. Some great examples have been on their site for years - always wondered if the pink Status is known to anyone here.
  18. Supply and demand as Steve says above. Those to whom the vintage Fenders mean the most, are increasingly older - and richer (at least have more disposable income) - which further drives up the prices. See also classic cars..
  19. Right ! So it is.. genuinely missed that
  20. Not often you see anything marketed as ‘weird’, and a stretch to agree with ‘menacing’, unless someone was swinging it at you. I definitely will not be buying one but I’m glad it exists, looks a lot of fun.
  21. Yes exactly this. You could just post the link to the new upload on your site though.
  22. If you can share with us your measure 'musical quality' and 'bass playing' .. !
  23. You pick your nose with your fingers
  24. Stating the obvious, and divisive on here - Jaco - Birthday Concert always cheers me up. Looking forward to hearing some unearthed gems on this thread.
  25. Been meaning to come back on here and say how good this looks, will enjoy digging through. The added bonus is discovering new stuff, as this thread has done. Ultimately I'm trying to up my own transcription game, and can also see myself using these to reference my own attempts. Miles' All Blues solo is one I've been meaning to notate for a while.
