  1. If you're generally driving / being driven, cheap alu flight cases are a pretty good option. Have amp head, power supplies, pedals and cables in one.. Tbf have also taken this on train, with bass on back, and cab in other hand..
  2. Difficult to see how it would clear anything at auction, given the PITA of collection as well. Wonder if you could strike a deal with a luthier in these straightened times. They repair it for a reduced rate, knowing it will be sold and they can recoup X, you get anything above this. Or if you were just thinking of giving it away, maybe said luthier would take it off your hands to repair in their own time, and eventually move it on as a 'Cat-D' starter bass for someone. Don't really know how the economics work here tbh. Fully appreciate most luthiers are on v low comparative hourly rate when you break down how much they do.
  3. Tbf to Markbass the whole party tricks / ‘playing the spoons’ style bassist tracks well online, and will win them more shares and likes than someone playing something more sedate. I wonder if they’ll wheel out Mark King as the end of level baddie?
  4. Winner stays on too. Feel compelled to tune in
  5. Yeah this Markbass competition is pretty foul. Hopefully someone abuses the live format and gets their junk out live on air. It's the least it deserves
  6. Where the characteristic - gender, race, religeon, sexuality - is a requirement of the job (say a shopping centre Father Christmas, or a women's changing room attendant) the ad can legally ask for it. You could easily see how the agency's request would fall under this. The inclusive job ad doesn't stop an employer just hiring who they want for the job anyway..
  7. Bottom line is this isn't about what any of us think is right, either musically or ethically. The agent says mixed bands are a harder sell for them, so that's it. Personally I'd disagree, but they know how they can make money. 'Entertainment' job ads are not ruled as tightly as ads for regular jobs - where you can't discriminate on age, race, gender, etc - the loophole being the person has to be right for a playing a particular part. It's pretty wooly but somehow how it exists without too much trouble.
  8. Wanting to play something more than once is a start. Next sign of a like is dropping it into a playlist. Today’s finds worthy of repeat - new Mr Bungle, and a ‘73 Gary Bartz album. It’s crazy over the years gone by how much music I swerved for spurious reasons, only to revisit years later and enjoy it. I think if you genuinely like music - you can’t ever write off a whole genre, you just haven’t yet been exposed to the right stuff for you.
  9. Agree. It’s endured well, form and function. Surprising how few BBOT variants there are our there. Top loading is a good shout
  10. in pic above of top horn paint job, the camera focussed on the plants behind so you can't see what's what - thought it worth a mention as might be dealbreaker for some.. GLWTS
  11. Same! Gave up waiting last month and grabbed black V3 5, love it. Sorry @la bam slight hijack. This won’t hang around long. GLWTS
  12. Always nice (and rare?) to see a luthier who's also a great player. What a job to have.
  13. Some manky stuff there, it's like a house clearance
  14. Anyone else zooming in on the CD collection? Beast of a bass - GLWTS
  15. I've found one of the life rules for long term tenure on Basschat is happily walk away from subjective threads. If someone thinks Mozart / Hendrix / Miles Davis was crap, and 10 others pile in with a Like, whatever. Sleep easy knowing the majority read what you did and thought the same as you.
  16. Happy to believe in Middle C and A440 ..
  17. Surely this is a spoof.. ?
  18. Andertons accept a return within 2 wks. Costs you £15 but they’ll collect it. Worth a go if you really like the look of it?
  19. Sires 5’s are fabulous- P7 and V3 here. V3 gets more airtime these days, nicer neck. Shame not to spend the full £1K though - go with your gut , Ray 5 a great choice.
  20. Haha. So.. your mum thinks Macca is seriously overrated as a bass player 🤔 He’s strangely not far off the recurring ‘famous people who also play bass’ category on here
  21. Blimey poor OP. What a barrage of choices and lingo! I use neither but Scarlett and Reaper, job done.
  22. Wouldn’t read this as bad service, they just haven’t understood the question. Happens a lot in these global times.. just reword it and ask them directly again.
  23. Paul McCartney will always be the most famous bassist that has ever lived, so guess he’s always going to be the most under/over rated player in the world.
  24. Mods / Ped - can we have a 'gently disagree' button?
  25. Andy - lovely bass and GLWTS. Just curious as have a build underway - what are the 4 rotary options you assigned here?
