1.
I have a vintage Ibanez 4 string short scale bass, like a mini musician bass if you are interested.
Thanks for the offer, but Ibanez Musicians are not really my cup of tea More into Rick 3000, old Mustangs, Italia, Birdsong etc. Thanks again Stu
2. Still available. Would take £250 (inc. condenser mic) or £200 without. Please p.m. any interest Thanks Stu
3. Very well regarded distortion pedal specially voiced for bass (that's the XLF bit of the name). Crowther Hotcake XLF - original ad Not really using it, as it's not needed in a Mowtown / Stax covers band , so decided better to move it on. Looking for the £85 (plus postage) that I paid for it Thanks Stu
4.
Theres a short scale gretsch AND roland combo amp on the forums going for a silly low price. Id happily raise my nearest and dearest on one of those!
thanks mate - appreciate the plug. Can't believe I missed this thread. Looks like Andy and I will be doing the deal next week. If we had more room and my daughters were remotely interested in playing I would gladly keep it. I'm sure his young'un will be a very happy bunny
5. Thanks for the interest looks - like both are now sold (pending payment and sorting out pick up) to a very nice chap based in Leeds
6. both still available - about £80 for the amp if anyone's interested
7. bump - would consider splitting bass and amp
8.
I must admit, I like the idea of a combo. Not very rock 'n' roll but bloody easy to set up. The reviews of this are pretty impressive - does anyone else have any views/experience? Chris
If you were looking for views on the MB Jeff Berlin combo you could p.m. Simon1964, as he bought one a few months before I took the plunge. I'm not selling but if you want to try it out (at non-neighbour annoying levels) and are around Guildford any time just give me a shout. Cheers Stu
9. Finger-style, 15" speaker and no tweaters (I like BASS!!!) Started off Jamerson-styley playing with one finger, but have recently been practicing more to get the hang of two fingers to help my limited technique. No knowledge of the technical stuff (I have to struggle to name some of the notes!) but can get by, just about, playing by ear. Recently progressed to 5 string to make life easier to follow the same patterns without venturing too far up the dusty end of the neck
10.
Stu's a FANTASTIC guy to deal with, very helpful and informative! Great seller!
Thanks v. much for the kind words, Chris - it was a pleasure doing business with you - you're a real gent! Hope the Epi is still serving you well - a great cab and plenty loud (....eh...pardon???) Still no takers for the Gretsch or Roland though
11. Hi Molan You could do a lot worse than try out my Roland 30W Bass Cube. It has an MP3/Aux in and sounds great at low volumes with 4 or 5 strings. I've had some interest but currently still available. See below: Roland 30W Bass Cube A few folks on the site have had them and they're generally thought highly of. If you don't go that route you could try a Line6 110 combo, which some on the site like (I wasn't too keen but others disagree) Cheers Stu
12. If I could suggest another option, you could also try a Mark Bass Jeff Berlin combo, with its built in 15" speaker. I got one recently and am very, very happy with it. Would fit the bill perfectly for the Mowtown / Bluesy vibe... IMHO of course (try before you buy etc.). Some don't like the compressed tone, (I think Kiwi compared it to a 'rubber band' sound ) but I really like it
13. excellent documentary. I'm a huge Jamerson fan (quite simply best, most melodic, bass player ever) but felt a little sorry for Babbit... a mean player in his own right. Being constantly told how awesome the previous guy was, must be a really, really tough act to live up to
14.
I can vouch for the roland being truly fantastic. Brilliant deal!
Thanks fella - I agree, just don't need it now
15.
Sounds like a good deal, but some pictures would certainly help move things along!
Thanks for the advice... here you go...
16. I haven't tried to remove the head but I believe that the combo version of the head doesn't have sides or a top to it (not needed when in the combo), so it would be open to the elements if you removed it
17.
what colour is this and do they do precisions in it? its a lovely colour!
Apparently the colour is アメリカン・スタンダ
18. I'm selling the Roland Bass Cube that I bought recently off Mr Russ on this very site. Original posting below: Roland Bass Cube 30W They're great amps and it's in very good condition. I'm just looking to recoup the £80 I paid for it, as I bought I Mark Bass combo soon after buying this and no longer need a practice amp as well. If you want a cracking deal on this and a cool bass that's ideal for learning or travelling then check out my other posting: Gretsch bass and Roland amp Just p.m. me with any interest. Prefer collection from Surrey or could meet halfway within reason. Cheers Stu
19. Having recently upgraded both my amp and bass (MarkBass and Warwick if you're interested) I am now selling my trusty Gretch Synchromatic Jet Bass and Roland Bass Cube (30W version). I'd prefer to sell these together, as they'd make a great combination for someone starting out on bass (IMHO much, much better than the usual crud you get with starter kits for bass). Short scale (30") makes it really easy for those with smaller hands to learn. It also looks cool which makes you actually want to practice in the first place! Reviews below: Gretch Jet Bass Roland Bass Cube 30W I'm asking £190 for the bass, amp and warwick gig bag for the bass. Will also throw in a lead if you ask nicely You're welcome to come a try it out over a cup of tea if your ever around the Guildford / Surrey area. Please just send me a p.m. if interested. Cheers Stu
20. bass guitar magazine issue 7 (June/July 2003), the one with Jack Bruce on the cover I have a copy I could let you have - just pm me your address and I'll pop it in the post Cheers Stu
21. Well, eventually took the plunge and got a the Jeff Berlin 151p combo First impressions are very, very good. Lightweight (obviously), loud, with a wonderful 'proper' rounded, deep but well defined bass sound. Really, really pleased. One very happy bunny indeed
