Every bass and every cab and every amp is 5h1t. Otherwise there would be no Basschat
No! No! No! Everybody else's bass and every cab and every amp is 5hit. This is why we have Basschat. Except when my bass and cab and amp is 5hit and I'm jealous of everybody else's bass and cab and amp. That's called GAS, and this is why we have Basschat

Have you tried contacting Alex at Barefaced? He seems to be quite happy to respond to this type of query. -

Back in the day when I first started playing I could never do any cvocal lines other than over simple 4/4 or 8/4 bass patterns. When I picked up bass again after years not doing anything with it there was a clear understanding in the band we put together that I'd be doing my share of backing vocals. As a consequence I've found that by learning and practising the bass lines and the backing vocals at the same time I can usually manage both. There are exceptions - as stated by others if the bass line is especially busy I'll struggle. I'm lucky in that one of the guitarists also sings backing vocals so we usually find a way through between us. So my suggestion is not to try to learn new songs one part at a time, but figure out the whole lot together. Not much help if you've already learned the bass riff I know!

I can recommend Clive Noble at Nobles Music, Whitchurch in Cardiff. He's done a lovely job sorting out the neck and some very noisy pots on my Jazz. It plays like a dream now! http://www.noblesmusic.co.uk/ (02920) 613867
I saw a Beatles tribute a couple of weeks ago and the bass player was right handed. It got me thinking. I fancy learning to play left handed, just for a challenge. Anyone else done this I think I have heard that the Beatles, let it be, west end stage show only uses left handed Maccas now you thoughts, fellow BCs

I meant to add; I wonder how many in the audience of that Beatles tribute would have noticed that the bass player was playing the wrong way around to Paul McCartney?
I saw the 'Let it Be' show in Cardiff. The bass player was playing left-handed, but on a few songs (I remember Blackbird in partcular) he picked up a six-string acoustic which he played right-handed. I'm presuming therefore that he's naturally right-handed and learnt the Macca basslines left-handed. If i'm presuming correctly - much respect!

Have you contacted the seller to find out if there's anyone who can vouch for them, but may not have posted any feedback?

As Tommorichards says, your nearest bike shop is a good source of free cardboard. It'll be thick, and with good scissors or a Stanley knife it can be cut to suit whatever you're packing. I've shipped a 115 cab this way - loads of parcel tape and it was good to go.

We always respond to requests for playing for free (charity gigs etc) that it'll cost £250. That's our break-even cost - 3 x rehearsals at £50 a pop for rehearsal room hire (including use of their gear), and £100 to cover beer money for 5, or 6 if our semi-permanent harp player is turning up. Anything less means that it's costing us money to play at an event that someone else is putting on as a vehicle to make money. Of course this stance will vary if it's a cause which we support personally...

I can recommend Music Box Studios in Cardiff http://www.musicboxstudios.co.uk/. Several rooms for hire, each equipped with PA and drum kit. Amps are available for hire, and there is a shop that sells bits and bobs (strings, drum sticks, pedal batteries) as well as tuck. The Studios are run by musicians, and it's obvious that they care about what they're doing.
