1. Very slightly on the 'E' i only use a .115 on my lowest so it just needed a hairs more width, a .100 E still sits quite snug. The other 3 slots have not been touched at all.
2. Selling my nearly new NG2 4, this was bought in April new from Germany (because these have been really hard to get hold of here for a while now) Its absolutely immaculate, not a mark anywhere in fact i think this has only been gigged once. It comes as it would new, so perfect condition with the 2 tools and the shipping box (no case with these new). I'm happy to ship anywhere and UK shipping is included in the price. These are wonderful four string basses, only selling as i have just ordered something i really shouldn't have.... I currently have this one set up in BEAD but am happy to put it back in EADG if buyer wishes, think i have some strings around here for that. These seem to have hit £1500 new over here now (i paid £1550) so il do this at £1250 shipped or if you want to save me having to box it/send it lets call t £1200 collected, its essentially a new bass and no waiting for one of these to actually appear for sale somewhere. No trades except if you had a Barefaced 2x10 in 4 ohms with a metal grill plus cash my way. 3. Thanks! I think it is too, obviously the HB Shorty's are incredibly cheap for how good they are so had a few concerns about asking for to much. But i'm pretty certain anyone who's looking for a short scale will really like this one.
4. £175 Picked up one of these from Thomann a couple of months back and decided to mod the hell out of it, its come out rather good i think! List of upgrades... Delano PMVC 4 FE'M2 Pickups CTS Pots, Switchcraft Jack and all new wiring Hipshot A Bridge (Brass) String through version Hipshot Ferrules x 4 Black custom made pickguard Sandberg knobs Dunlop Dual Straploks Matching Black Headstock String through conversion The string through conversion and headstock finish were done by Mike at Zoot so are really well done. Its a shame to sell it but i don't really use it, the fun was putting it together and i could do with a little cash in for a purchase i'm about to make. I really have no idea how to price this, the cost to do all this was around £400 so i'm just gonna go somewhere in the middle and see what happens?!? I can probably strip this and put it back to stock and sell it plus the parts for around that after all but it seems a shame as this is actually a great sounding and playing little bass so would be nice to see it get a home. I have all the original parts with this too (white pickguard, pickups etc...) Price includes shipping to the UK Some pictures.. Happy to send larger pictures if anyone wants them drop me a message.. No trades, sale only please.
5. Got these yesterday and haven't got on with them so taken straight off the bass after about 4 hours home playing. The E has not been fitted at all and the B-A-D-G have been cut to fit a 2+2 headstock (34 scale), i left 3 wraps on the D and G though so they may well fit other headstocks fine, cant say for sure as i only have 2+2's at home, B and A have both been cut to have one wrap. Hope thats enough information... £17 Posted
6. My old bass! This thing is absolutely incredible and i can only imagine its even better with the Darkglass pre, i had the same job done by the same guy who fitted this one on another bass and his work is superb. If i hadn't made the same switch back to 4's recently i'd be £1700 lighter right now. GLWTS
7. Brand new, never fitted. Price includes postage.

10. Thanks and na no worries, I was gonna stick a picture of the wiring diagram up with the original post but not sure how useful my little pictures i seem to post would have been, was more a general question do active pickups need the bridge grounded (which was very kindly answered above) as i had read several conflicting answers and there was absolutely no mention of that on the supplied information from Warwick. Anyway all sorted now, feel free to close, bin, remove thanks.
11. Funny enough i recommend this one... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/306465-mec-3-band-preamp-18v-with-pots-for-passive-pickups/
12. Thanks for that, i'l have a look into it and get some better shots up shortly The right way up wouldnt hurt either would it!
13. Cheers for the reply's guys. It did come with a diagram and i cant see any reference to any ground other than the shield of the 2 pickups which goes to vol/bal pot and after doing a quick search i was reading things like active pickups don't require the ground wire to the bridge be reconnected so got me wondering if its not mentioned on the diagram? The battery is currently connected to the pre and there is a second red lead from the pre that looks linked to the red going to the battery, Ive never tried to read one of these diagrams before but i think its suggesting that connects to the 2 pickups, presumably powering them. I may pop round and see Mike, not sure this set up was the best thing to have a first attempt with.
14. How does one get bigger pictures on here? Ive often wondered how people have huge pictures on post as mine are always pretty small? No doubt its really obvious...
15. This is the MEC 3 band from a 93 Warwick, 18V with both battery clips and comes with pots (vol/bal with Push Pull Active/Passive, single Mid pot and another stacked Bass/Treb pot), also has a double battery holder. All works fine, obviously some re soldering required when refitting, would be ideal for anyone looking to switch over a warwick from active to passive pickups, i just bought a new set of the opposite from Warwick and my bank balance is not looking so good anymore! I also have some Passive Barts to fit a Warwick thumb 4 which i will happily do a deal on with this. £50 Including Shipping
16. These were in my 93 Warwick Thumb (original i think) Lovely sounding passive pickups but i just preferred the sound of the MEC's i tried. £40 Including Shipping I have the preamp and pots from the same bass for sale and will do a deal on both if interested - http://basschat.co.u...assive-pickups/
17. Hi guys, wondering is someone might be able to help me out here? I recently Picked up a very nice Warwick Thumb on here but i've decided to swap out the passive Barts, old MEC Pre and the pots for a active pair of MEC's, new MEC pre and the correct pots. Usually i would give this to Mike at Zoot who's just round the corner and does all the work on my basses but i figured its about time i learnt how to do this myself, ive got the pups in, pots/jack in and all i have to do is connect the pre and input jack with the clips to the volume/blend pot then solder the pups and shielding as shown on the wiring diagram to the volume pot. My question is the old ground wire to the bridge that was connected to the old volume pot, do i need to re connect that as these pickups are active? There is no mention of it that i can see on the wiring diagram. In the case of this bass the bridge ground wire is a very thick copper wire that connects to 2 other wires attached to screws under each pickup, i really should know this but i don't! Also one more thing, theres a red wire coming from each pickup, my understanding is this is the wire that connects the power to each pickup? There's a red wire from the preamp (the only one not already connected to something) and the diagram seems to suggest this connects to the 2 pickup wires, do i just attach that to the 2 from the pickup by twisting and taping or is there better way? Thanks guys!
18. Just bought a Warwick Thumb from Steve, great guy to deal with, quick shipping, very well packaged and a lovely bass, cheers mate!
19. Bump. Still looking for a Barefaced Two 10 and would be more than happy to do a partial trade on this for one or a sale of course.
