1. Dont know that one pieces are that rare in natural finish, look at the end strap button, my fretless meets in a sort of V, and is obviously 2 piece, but you wouldnt know looking from the back...

  2. Thanks Simon... yeah love Musicman basses... hard to beat a natural ray.. especially if you get a one piece body, the SR4 and the sterling are both one piece.

The inlay on the fretless is a bat outline! and it lights up in red LED, (can never decide if its tacky or cool) not sure of story behind it, but its really well done. The bass is '97, and i got it in 2002 i think, but its not a factory thing, tried to get info on EBMM forums but no luck.

  3. well...... I am a big defender of the Bongo... the look of any bass is personal, but when your on stage your gonna get noticed with a bongo.

many nights i play a stingray, precision or a jazz.. no one notices... strap on a bongo, and people start asking about it...only other bass ( that i own)
that gets any attention is a Ric.. but the bongos gets much more attention, mostly from non muso's.

They are very comfortable, have the Musicman sound and then some more, 4 band eq is so versatile you could run it straight into a power amp. and i just love 'em.

  4.
i do prefer the look of a single pickup standard ray, but that control plate doesn't look right to me without a pickguard...
    Is it mahogany bodied?
Ash body, mahogany tone block, 1000 year old redwood top, mohogany (gloss) neck (my first on an MM bass), and a real nice rosewood board.

Painted black back, behind the cream binding.... looks real nice.... stroke of genius, would have been very easy to ruin the top with a competing
    back...

  5.
They're not really my thing those BFR's (the HH ones are nicer IMO), but damn if i'm not impressed! As long as you like it, that's all that matters, right? How does it sound?
Maybe in my head, but it seems a bit more focused in the bottom end, and a bit more sparkly in the top end. I have a 20th Anniversary and I felt the same about that.... probobly just the expectation against cost?

Know what you mean with the HH , no control plate, which looks stunning, but IMHO a Stingray only needs one pickup,...... each to thier own.

  6. Hi All,

This may not be porn to those who don't like stingrays, but this does it for me. Just arrived today and thought i'd share it.

I Have a bit of a thing for Musicman basses, so i'll post some more on the Musicman porn thread, but thought this deserved its own.

  7.
power of ten, is the white Bongo in your sig my old 4HS? does Stranraer and an Asat semi-hollow mean anything to you? my apologies if it wasnt you. anyway great collection of EBMMs you have :)
Dub.... how are you dude?... Yes nice to hear from you again... actually mailed EB customer services about the paint finish on the bongo, and it turns out that it was a problem and you cant get the white bongo any more....

How you getting on with the ASAT

    Its a small old world

  8. Hi all, I have a bit of a thing for musicman basses, and for me there's nothing like them...

Keep your eye out for an early/ mid 90's stingray, some of the maple used on the necks is incredible, and if
you can find one with a one piece natural boby, all the better.

If you find a ray neck a bit of a stretch.. a sterling might be the way to go

Bongo's ...... 24 frets, 4 band usable eq.. use it onstage and you get noticed.

All are to die for if you get the right one, but you'll rarely get a bad one...
