  1. If you're only wandering down the B end occasionally get one of these, they're great and a lot lighter/cheaper than a new bass. I also have a BEAD 4-string cos I didn't play/practice on a 5-string enough and therefore couldn't get used to them.
  2. Maybe your thumb is GASing for the wider range of sound and thumb-friendly twin pickup bass?
  3. +1 for Nick Seymour; love his playing and the bass always gets an awesome sound/mix on Crowded House albums and +1 again for Tom Fowler, I've only heard him on Steve Hackett's 2nd album (Please Don't Touch) but the playing's great.
  4. Can't help you with this one but I'm just wondering if the Markbass spell has been broken and they're now yesterday's gear? Hope so, why would you actually want something in yellow italics sat on top of your stack? Verily they offend the eye!
  5. Cheers bud, the house of Compressionfirst hasn't come crashing down!
  6. Boss GT-6B. Avoid - unless you can find somewhere online to explain how to use the bloody thing!
  7. Cheers for the responses and yeah I'll get it replaced somewhere.
  8. G/F asked me last night if I fancied going to see a band and then finds them on Youtube.... 'Ever Fallen In Love...' groan I'd say there are roughly several thousand pop songs that would go down really well in a pub but most bands seem to be drawn to the same one or two hundred and they've all been mentioned in this post. Except maybe Mustang Sally?
  9. There are lots of permutations of Beatles that were released here, there and everywhere (great idea for a song title ).
  10. McCartney; musician first, bass player second, that's why he's so good.
  11. I can't get on with 5-strings either. I converted a 4-string to BEAD; filed the nut out, set it up again - lovely. And a possibly controversial opinion: if you miss your G-string then you shouldn't be spending so much time on the dusty side lol! I believe Spector offer a BEAD bass with a 35" scale. Have you considered an octave pedal? My MXR's awesome!
  12. Mediocre - dunno what all the fuss is about.
  13. 1. Bad drummers! 2. Er, that's it.
  14. Skankdelver - a brilliant article with the bonus of theories! Great pics too. Can you imagine it these days; 'Erm has anyone seen my amp rack?' Roadie: 'We traded it for a chair!' Can you throw any light on Kennedy's assassination?
  15. I'm probably gonna get the dillweed of the week award here but I'd have thought a denser/heavier material like plexi would have been a good thing? Also that angled pickup thing has always puzzled me too. But then we are very 'butterfly flapping it's wings in China' about our gear
  16. Hmmmm, still not convinced it's a Gibson.
  17. This is a first, been taking an interest in The Who forever and this is the first pic I've seen of him gigging a twin-neck. Is that GUILD on the headstocks?
  18. Spector NS2000/4 retro fitted with EMG 35DC's and an EMG BTS (pickup blend/master volume) system. With the jack plugged in it only has to be touched for the mighty CLUNKERRANG to happen. I've tried various leads which are sound in my other basses. Can anyone help?
  19. Kinda liking this bass. How does plexi work out as a guitar material? I know a lot of drummers hated the plexi drum kits (except for Bonzo - gratuitous opportunity to show his lovely Amber Vistalite)
  20. An oldie from '05. I'm a bit of an Entwistle face-wise - the odd clenched teeth!
  21. Well said The Badderer, that's exactly the system I've used previously: compromise and make life easy. This guy tried to tell me today that it made life easy for the singer - really? In Phil Lynott's range?
  22. Yes they're mixing a lot of detuned and not. I think the whole of 'Appetite for Destruction' was done that way wasn't it?
  23. I'm talking about a semitone shift to make it a bloody sight easier to play? Everybody seems to play Superstition in E (from Eb).
