1. If more drummers played like Ringo instead of trying to be Neil Peart* amateur music would be a happier place. * Not a dig - I think he's fab, mainly because he can actually play like Neil Peart.
2. Actually I do care what a bass looks like. If your fave trolleys had a giant codpeice would it make a difference?
3. I was unaware of this monstrosity until it was posted on FB today.
4. Ah, idle hands make Jaco bashing. See similar posts ad nauseum...
5. Watched the dvd last week. Perfect in every respect with the exception of David's voice. He's struggling a bit these days.
6. Adam must by now have overtaken MK as the biggest bass whore ever. Questions: has he ever played these? Has he ever endorsed a bass he's only played on his sofa?
7. Couple of years ago I briefly owned an Ashdown 'guess which note I'm actually going to track' octave pedal. Dreadful. But I'd have to agree most gear is pretty good these days.
8. Two tickets for the Brighton show secured by Ms EMG this morning. OOOOSH!
9. Awesome! Great venue, band, gig and sound - and you can hear the bass right across the mix. Guy's single cut Star Bass with the vari pickups sounded mighty on Run Like Hell. Lots of perfectly tracked octave bass too. Sadly David's joined the Ian Anderson/Geddy Lee vocal club - dropping the key a tone wouldn't have done any harm.
10. Dug out Universal Juveniles yesterday and played it twice then once again today. Cracking album and their last I believe. Anyone else like 'em?
11.
Anyone heard the new single 'I Love You, But I'm Lost'? What a pile of poo. Perfect for the disposable music generation; they'll love it, but they've lost the distinctive sound they once had. Shame. Hope the album has something redeemable on it.
I found most of the last album forgettable. I think they've made the right moves to generate some interest in the UK; BBC show, Albert Hall. They're announcing the 2018 tour tomorrow - I'll be interested to see what venues they've chosen.
12.
Songs From The Big Chair is a nice album, well the original eight track version was. You know how sometimes you like something and you wish you could have more of it. Like pistachio ice-cream. I remember the first time I had pistachio ice-cream, I was in Devon while I was convalescing from an operation to fix a burst appendix; I think my parents were trying to recompense me in some small way after ignoring away my ten month period of persistent stomach aches as some teenage folly until it actually burst. 'Is that nice?' My mother asked, following up with, 'Would you like another one?' Well, it was like nectar to the gods. I'd never tasted anything like it, but on the return journey to our little hotel, I projectile vomited the whole lot up in the car and on the street where my father had pulled over. Well, anyway, the 27 CD set reissue of Songs From The Big Chair (yes, I know it was only 5CDs, it just feels 27 hours long) is a little like my pistachio ice-cream story and was a tad hard going. I really don't have the capacity to appreciate nine different versions of Mothers Talk and ten each of Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World. Or three bowls of ice-cream on a dippy stomach.
The new (sic) greatest hits album has two new tracks on it. That trick would have worked in the days when you had to buy the cd to get hold of them but not now.
13.
You and half the country. Albert Hall's ticketing website is a debacle. Ticket resellers did OK, mind. How long is is going to be before it becomes mandatory to upload a photo of yourself that gets printed to the ticket?
The missus tried for an hour only to be told she'd been transferred to another site (spooky) which then hung up on her. She also tried the lottery for the BBC gig without success. And like you suggest there were the usual empty threats about who's buying the tickets.
14. Cheers bud. Tried without luck to get Albert Hall tickets. Rumours of a 2018 tour about though.
15. I must give these guys a go. I've seen Brit Floyd twice, the last time they did side 4 of The Wall as an encore - not the stuff that encores are made of.
16.

17.
Neoprene huh. Well there's a nice fortress on eBay for sale. Price seems good as well. Seems the thumb basses carry a high 2nd hand market value.
Had a Thumb BO 5-string years ago. The only thing I've ever sold at a profit.* *The pre-CBS Fender was found in my gran's loft so that doesn't count.
