1.
One from Fodera (http://www.fodera.co...perial-mini-mg/ - Imperial Mini – MG):
Ok, I've got to ask, why's the B string windey?
2.
Sods law dictates it will be smashed to pieces in the post...
That made me LOL!
3. Reminds me of that awesome exchange that went on on the last Kaye/Jamerson thread which I think was locked in the end
4. Bit of thread revival. Dunno of the Sire Marcus Miller's in here already but it ain't half fugly.
5. I've only had four emails since I was tempted by his clickbait on Sunday.
6.
This may be slightly off topic but I have blamed lower back pain on certain basses in the recent past, and then I found that the actual cause of the pain was work stress combined with a lack of sleep. I'm not suggesting this is the case here, but for me physical and mental health has a huge impact on how my body feels. If i'm stressed and overworked I get all sorts of weird aches and pains. The joys of being self employed..
I was also thinking that the cause might not be your bass. Your back doesn't necessarily get painful at the time it's being abused. Got any Trace Elliot gear?
7. He'll burn in fibbers hell - you've got that to comfort you.
8. I thought his Precision v Jazz one was pretty tentative. There was a slight difference but nothing a bit of tone tweaking wouldn't sort. Adjourns to specially strengthened Fenderista-proof bunker
9.
Unfortunately in an effort to get more subscribers, it's just more click-bait.
Yep, this. Shame on you Scott.
10.
I know they're his to do what he likes with, but it does annoy me.
Me too. Stand by endorsement switch :-)
11. Just watched this. I was surprised they couldn't fill a set with good stuff instead of the heavy metal they seem to have gravitated towards. And just when I was thinking all things metal up pops Brian Johnson for a quick Back in Black which was a nice touch. Chris Wolstenhome is one mighty bass (and synthax ) player.
12. Why did you nag him out of his electronic kit?
13.
It's all in the fingers surely
14. Wiki are confirming it by date but no details. Fagen stated on Aug 2nd that he was in hospital recovering from an operation also without details.
15. I was wondering how this 'spectacle' was conceived. Jools, his orchestra, Beverley and Tom (old school tie buddies with Jools). I think we should be told.
16.
Strange fact: the Moodies backed the Four Tops on their hit Simple Game. EDIT: which, research reveals, started life as a Moodies B-side!
It was written by one of them.
17.
Here's a link (seller is in Greece) - https://www.facebook...642153479129607
Cheers.
18. Unable to link but I've put the details in the post.
19. A Question of Balance (1970) came around in the car this morning. I've loved this band since the early '70's; great musicians with great music and a Gibson 335 tone to die for.
20. Stingray 4HS in black on Bass Players market FB. £1000 + postage.
21.
Couldn't they have found a better house band? I'm really cross about this: a collection of good musicians led by a gurning clown who's managed to turn the whole thing into a soup of mediocrity. Compare with the Metropole Orkestr doing the Mingus Prom last week. IMHO, of course. Other indifferent bands are available.
I thought exactly the same. Jools effing Holland again. That'll be Stax in a boogie-woogie stylee then?
22. No, no, no! Rush were well past their sell by date when they knocked it on the head. Outside of guest appearances with Yes pass your days telling your grandkids what you did in the seventies.
