2.
Jim Lea, Slades bass player .I think hes a psyciatric nurse or similar. Also Phil Taylor , drummer in the iconic line up, just hung up his sticks saying he had played with the best no point in carrying on.
R2 played a Jimmy Lea single a while back.
 3.
My brother had this in his loft for about 10 years. It's only an entry level NS2000 made in Korea or somewhere. But for £50 I'm pleased (I'm afraid I have no budget for music). I love the pickups, the weight and the colour. There were a couple of serious holes in the body, which I've filled. But I can't hide the repairs so I'm thinking of adding a scratch plate that I'll need to cut myself.
Firstly, £50's fine for that bass. They were the entry level NS2000's but they're still good. Secondly, DO NOT put a scratchplate on a Spector! If they bass plays ok then the cosmetics can be sorted later.
 4.
Oh no need for an apology I should have put a smiley after my comment to show that I was not being abrasive... So if anything ...my apologies to you
Friends yay!
 5.
I never understood why Tales of Topographic Oceans was so vilified.
Me neither, I like it. Except side three, side three's dreadful.
 6.
And wrong opinion......
Is there such a thing as a wrong opinion?
 7. I like it - just can't figure where I'd use it though.
 8.
The bass centre. The signage was still there only about 10 years ago. Apparently the bass place was by the Alex theatre. It was then taken over by the bass centre, and at some time moved to the arches by Sound control.
I remember the arches. Weren't there two or three music shops there? And Sound Control was just around the corner.
 9.
Isn't that the point of this thread; Albums you personally like but are deemed to be poor by the majority?
Sorry, wrong thread
 10.
Deep Purple's "Come Taste the Band". Most Purple fans hated it as there was no Richie, but I liked it and still play it from time to time now.
I don't like it because a, it ain't good and b, Tommy Bolin ain't that good.
 11. You've sorted out what you want, had it built and you're happy as hell. Five years later and GAS starts gnawing at your brain
 12.
dont get the 'tone is all in the fingers' comment, what a load of tosh, some of it is yes but not all of it. i cant add bass or treble just by moving position or plucking harder.
You'll have to get used to this mate, there's a hardcore of 'tone in the fingers' stalwarts on here.
 13.
Always liked the bass on this, comes in after about 1 min
Did he actually play on this one? I thought he only played stick on I Don't Remember on that album?
 14.
What has happened with him and Tull/Anderson? Have they had a falling out? I can`t seem to find an answer anywhere. The guy is a great guitar player and a nice guy too boot!
Anderson's said something like 'he wrote it all so he's going to benefit (no pun) financially from it'. If they've fallen out over money it's a real shame. At least Martin clearly has the rights to perform the stuff which is great.
 15. Cheers bud, just looked it up and it is indeed. Nice bass.

 18. Anything by Elbow. Overrated doesn't begin to describe it.
 19. Ok I'm gonna say it - he's been dead long enough now... Ace of Spades. Forty-ish minutes of melody-free garbage.
 20.
Hejira by Joni Mitchell. I can't stand her voice and that faux hipster poetry. I understand intellectually how revolutionary Jaco's playing was, but it does nothing for me. There! I've insulted two "icons" and feel no remorse.
Can you post something you think is good so I can gauge your musical philistine-ness?
 21.
Donald Fagen, The Nightfly. Think I'm the only muso ever who doesn't like this. Those irritating 'clever' songs played so perfectly with no soul/feel. Liked early Steely Dan stuff, but then it all ended up sounding like this.
While we're on it, Steely Dan - Aja - one piece of lift music blending into the next.
 22. Never mind this trivial stuff, what about maple fingerboard v rosewood?!
 23. I've just explained to an old friend of mine how complex the procedure for changing a battery is on a bass. He was astounded and said he'd defo be sticking with the much easier science of rockets.
