Oooh look at this new thing, some people on this forum say this thing is amazing I must sell off all my basses to have just active basses... then... Don't like active basses - not for me, going back to simple passive 4 strings, leo got it right... then... Ooh look a 5th string, some people on a forum say I should try it. I'm going to sell all my 4 strings and replace them with 5 - they mostly are active then... ooh look new bells and whistles preamps from East/ACG/Aguilar/Glockenklang/Ebay, people rave about these, I'm going to fit them on all my basses then... Don't like active basses - not for me, going back to simple passive 4 strings, leo got it right... repeat ad infinitum ....
Awesomely spot on!
 2.
Thick as a Brick. Jethro Tull.
I think you'd find your audience really wouldn't mind if they sat that one out. Coat.
 3.
Apart from the blue turtles cd i have missed most of stings solo cds I got pissed off buying full priced police cds back in the day - when they were around £15 each - remember? Because apart from outlandas d mour, they tended to follow the same format, one or two stand out singles and the rest a lot of padding. So with this in mind i gave stings solo cds a miss. As they can now be bought for a couple of quid each on ebay, i have now bought 5 of his solo cds with another 2 on the way Amazed, i find that most of them are pretty good, with some fine tunes, nice hooks and some good jazz musos blowing great lines and very little padding An eye opener
Police albums with filler?
 4. Really tough one but it's got to be Highway Star from Made in Japan. Blistering.
 5.
Sooooo many good songs, but I do have a soft spot for this one....
Great choice from a criminally underrated album.
 6. Fair few replies for mute buttons here. My tuner's my mute but either way they're useful. The Guitards need them too for when that jack goes in and out, and in and out... clunk clunk clunk..😣
 7.
The pup is not the issue imo. Paint the headstock! Cream like the pup or red.
This. Cursed by the fugly, oversized Fender headstock.
 8.
Putting new strings on can often be a waste of time / money too. I bought something recently and the seller put on a new set of Rotosound Steels in a 50-110 gauge. I didn't ask for this, he just thought it would be a nice idea. I don't like Rotosounds, rarely use steel and generally have 40-95's on. The Rotos came off immediately and went into my 'spares' box.
This. Strings are personal. Send the buyer a set of the cheapest nastiest strings you can find.
 9. I'm gonna let it sink in.
 10. Followed by two of Nic Roeg's best films; The Man Who Fell To Earth and Walkabout.
 11. Talk about flavour of the month. I'll get my (half-varnish) coat.
 12. Disrespecting any musical genre is just stupid. Except rap, rap is all sh*te
 13.
Did you know that Wal basses aren't entirely perfect and wonderful? How dare I suggest such a thing? Well, the slot on the bridge for locating and anchoring the E string is maybe a few thou too narrow. It means the some chunkier E strings can be a bit of a faff to install and get seated right. Suppose I might as well junk such a fundamentally flawed instrument then!
That's so they only take light gauge strings for that toppy sound
 14.
I think my Aguilar rig looks stunning and classic in its Chocolate Thunder (sniggers childishly) livery. Just wish it didn't have the slight head overhang .
Ditto 19" rack cases - can't Aguilar make their speakers 19.5" wide?
 15. Worthwhile bump for this post. It's on BBC2 tonight.
 16. There's another potential thread here - most underrated basses.
 17. I think a very valid point's been made here. The way she 'performs' compared to what most of us do is completely different and is difficult to relate to. However, she was quite spoiled brat about it instead of explaining what was going on. And the most important thing to be learned? Life's too short for big asses.
 18. Me with my trans blue '98 model 12 years and a haircut or two ago. Awesome basses.
 19.
I think the outfit was worn to divert your attention away from the lacklustre performance. To my mind she seemed to sleepwalk through most of her songs on autopilot. Must be hard to keep the enthusiasm for a song you've been singing almost continuously for the last 30 years.
It's difficult to express enthusiasm when your face is barely able to move.
 20. EBS_freak - is that because you're freakishly an expert on Every Bloody Subject?
 21.
They do - but in this case, Mariah wasn't at fault... but it won't be the sound engineers that are getting the bad press will it?
Is that the sound engineer who probably said 'Whatever you do Mariah, don't take your IEM's out?'
 22.
Finally got me a Spector, has been on my 'if ever at the right conditions list' for a very long time. Spector Legend 5 Classic.
Nice!
