1.
Just watched it too.... So they want to convince people to replace their 'unreliable' copper cables with more expensive optical cables, that not only will probably require batteries to power them that could run out during a gig, but will probably be more fragile than the copper if trodden on. Not to mention signal buffering that might affect guitar tone especially with fuzz pedals. My Planet Waves cable I bought recently has a lifetime warranty. I could just buy two of those and be set for life and have cash to spare!
Totally agree. Like I said I was gagging to be in that room to tell them basically they were trying to reinvent the wheel.
 2. And another thing, when did Marc Almond become a good singer?
 3. The guys doing the pitch didn't explain the technology of it. They used the old pitch chestnut of ordinary cables being thoroughly unreliable (really)? Tuka Suliman gave them the cash but there was no-one among the dragons who had the knowledge to challenge their claims about ordinary cables which was frustrating.
 4. Utter, utter garbage. My FF button got more work than an episode of Later. I got as far as Marc Almond trying his best with a totally off the mark interpretation of Life on Mars. And this was the problem, getting someone to orchestrate/interpret Bowie who was clearly the wrong man for the job. David, I hope you're STILL resting in peace.
 5.
Disappointing to read all these derogatory comments from a bunch of supposed musicians. Not liking something is one thing, but rubbishing other artists' works? Hmm.
Um, so you can't criticise anything then?
 6. I find it strangely riveting. Coat deployed.
 7.
I believe Ringo is available ...
Nah, that wouldn't be ludicrous enough for the current state of this 'band'. Good article though. I didn't realise the current shows included all of Drama and half of Topographic Oceans. That must be riveting.
 8.
Can't comment on construction benefits, but my gigging basses have to have 24 frets due a bass solo I do in one of our songs.
What's a bass solo?
 9. Now we're talking!
 10.
I've only just counted mine, 20, but I never go higher than the 12th and very rarely have to higher than 4th
The voice of reason!
 11.
There used to be a video on the Lakland site with Chris using one - sounded just like his Ric.
Ha ha! Does this go any way to explaining why Geddy's Jazz sounds like a Ric?
 12. I like the one Brian May's tech does - very knowledgeable. Chris Squire was pretty vague about his stuff.
 13.
I believe he did...in the studio. It may have been a jazz tho.
A Jazz (particularly on Parallels). He also used (I believe) a Lakland P on later tours.
 14.
I'm surprised, reading all of this, that Sir Macca ever got anywhere at all. A Precision is all there is in the Bass World..? I'm only a drummer, so I wouldn't know, of course, but I still say 'Poppycock', so there. You really are a funny old lot, sometimes.
And that waster Chris Squire - if he'd used a P he might have got somewhere.
 15.
Steady on chaps!! Any more of this banter and we all won't have anything to talk about. BC will be empty! IBTL
Almost exactly what I was thinking. Just replace talk with waffle.
 16.
I've said before the vast majority of bass players need a P bass because it does what most people need it to do. If I hear a bass with a weak sound..it very very often isn't a P..
Er hang on a minute, that's a mighty sweeping statement!
 17. Ha ha, not a bass stare-er, just always liked Living Colour! Ta for the Talkbass link.
 18.
Here's another pic showing the headstock. If you enlarge the pic it looks like 'ltd' on the headstock
Nice one!
 19. The control knobs on a TRB are angled and the truss rod access it at the body end. I'm curious about that 12th fret marker too.
 20. Muzz Skillings in his Living Colour days. Ibanez?
 21. Yes Barry, that falsetto's great when studio wizardry's involved but live...
 22. It's back, and at a more realistic price - £25k. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TENNESSEE-15-STRING-EXTENDED-RANGE-BASS-/291806690876?hash=item43f108be3c:g:bJwAAOxycgVTixwQ
 23.
Ha ha, this thread will still be going when the dinosaurs have returned
They were definitely hefty.
