1. Show us your rig* *doubling as the heaviest thing around to fix a floor with.
 2.
Our old drummer in the cover band had a Vistalite and he also had the Vistalite with the lights in. He always used it because it "punched through" the noisy guitars. It just sounded harsh and hard to me. His wooden kit sounded much better.
Good point. Of the other well known players I can only think of Barry Barlow from Tull who used one for any length of time - no-one else seemed to like them. Edit: Tull did have a very particular sound though.
 3.
In a modern drummer magazine back in the 80s/90s there was a story about Zep being on the same bill as James Brown. Apparently Bonzo sat down with the various drummers in the group and goes 'you play like this' to Clyde Stubblefield, and 'you play like this' to Jabo Starks, impressing them suitably. I do admit I've not heard this story repeated anyway else. There are numerous accounts of him buying a toy kit for his son Jason when he was small and demonstrating how to drum on it, and sounding pretty much as dynamic and huge as he was on his regular kit. He had such an ear and touch for rhythm that I don't doubt tiny jazz kit and brushes would be far out of his reach.
And his Ludwig amber vistalite is the coolest kit of all time. Resistance is futile
 4.
Yes he is.
Ta.
 5. Another helpful BC post. Had my finger on the trigger for a while with one of these.
 6. I only looked at the last 20 - is Ian Paice in it?
 7.
Totally. Marcus Miller's style is soulful and in a live band situation he kills it but his records sound like Casio keyboard demo tracks. As to the OP's question another gem in the word is Dean Garcia. He doesn't play anything mega-complex but his tone and use of sliding makes an essentially pedestrial bassline sound amazing.
Nice to see Dean Garcia get a mention, his name came to mind when I heard a Eurythmics song the other day. He toured in Sinead O'Connor's band years ago too.
 8.
stuart zender played on the Stoned Again mix (original version) with the slap style chorus, where as the album version has a different feel and different bassline creadited to a Mr. X
Didn't Andrew Levy play on early Jamiroquai stuff?
 9. Killing an hour in PMT in Portsmouth the other day. SDGR 4-string fretless bass. On it were a set of tapewounds (I think). Blue binding at the top, coloured ball ends like D'arddios and the strings looked like roundwounds in a translucent plastic sleeve giving a greyish/graphite colour? Any ideas what they are? Only asking cos they looked cool as f...!
 10. I'm torn with this one. I love the guy too but this looks like it's from around the time he was well on the slide. Can't help feeling he's playing a Jaydee because he couldn't locate one of his own basses.
 11. Keith Moon at number 2? Sometimes lists really are bollocks.
 12.
Why would he be any good? He's mega posh, so he probably has very little of interest to sing about. Plus he's got the world's most famous musician for a dad, its just too much to live up to. You should listen to Dylan's son and his band, mediocre and lukewarm crap, it's awful. Posh spoilt children of celebrities rarely have much to say musically. It's like watching a toff from Mayfair singing along to the Smiths.
Those Genesis toffs did interesting stuff.
 13.
Ahh... I've just realised you're fairly local to me! I'm guessing there's not two Sting-less Police tributes in Central Scotland! Was definitely the funniest response I've had to a Gumtree ad. I included a couple of video links, so he must known I'm no Sting look-a-like!
And another mention for chancers! Forming Roman Empire revolutionary movement: Spartacus wanted!
 14. If it's tuned in 4ths that ocean liner berthing wire has gotta be inaudible.
 15.
Don't think I was aware he had a son, let alone one who did music, but I lost interest in the mop tops around 1968. Not much on him, found this on youtube. Does he always look miserable? https://www.youtube....h?v=nhBzjIxHwvc
Blimey, never seen him before but there's no doubting who his dad is! So we have the curious situation of a son of Fab doing a cover by that rough London village lot? Anyone remember Julian Lennon?
 16. Can't believe The Hard Rock Cafe aren't interested?
 17.
So I think we can all agree that another 43 £75 price drops will bring it to the correct price.
Grabs calculator...
 18. Some great replies so far. Of the ones around I've seen Brit Floyd who do note perfect covers (the way I like 'em) and G2 (Genesis tribute who take the same approach) and both are excellent. Saw a U2 tribute in a Plymouth boozer once a long time ago - dunno if the singer was Irish but he had the accent spot on! There are a lot of Gumtree dreamers though. nb. Favourite tribute names - west country Eagles tribute - The Beagles and Oasish
 19.
It's good to know that you're the arbiter of relevance. I don't know where I'd be without you.
20. Where does a tribute band get gigs? Considering there already seems to be plenty of them around?
 21. It's back. Price drop of £75 to £3175. Form an orderly queue. I'd have to ask him to throw in the Workmate - who needs guitar stands anyway?
 22. One of Dennis's prototypes?
