2. Looks familiar. Are there a few noughts missing off the price?
 3. Great design and a great idea. I do feel a bit daft having my bass's body in Hampshire and the low F in W Sussex. Or Dorset if I'm facing that way
 4.
smallcreep's day ?
Only one half of of Smallcreep's Day is a single concept. Some cracking stuff on that album and criminal that he's never played any of it live.
 5. Spooky. I've just taken the plunge with lead vocals and I'm already thinking music stand
 6. He flirted with Fenders (seemingly very briefly) before GB's (that seemed short-lived too). Anyone know the Fender story? Thoroughly enjoyable video. There's been plenty of discussions/comments about MK over the while on here. Having seen all those lovely bass lines strung together I've decided to just accept him for what he is. Whatever that is.
 7. Good post. Good lines about drummers too. I've found them to be generally polite and compact but it's always irritated me that the space the drummer takes up is indisputable, whatever's left over is for the rest of the band. At my last gig I had more gear at my feet than the lead guitarist which I just knew irked the f%&k out of him!
 8.
I'd also be blasting my shins with the lovely valve tone The other issue with the logos is the cab has the old single wing, I'm actually OCD enough to consider changing it to the double wing to match the amp
I've bought Ashdown logos in the past, they certainly used to be well priced.
 9.
I never gave U2 much credence. I was dead against over blown stadium acts, preferring the intimacy of loud guitars in a club or hall. I think it was in '87 when my GF bought two tickets as a treat to see them on the Joshua Tree tour at Leeds Elland Road. All leading up to the day I was stubborn and grumpy about going and pretty much kept the same stance throughout the gig. Although it just happened to be one of the best I've been to. The support was The Pretenders, The Fall and The Mission who were all great. Wayne Hussey did his best to out-Bono Bono by getting into the crowd, dancing with ladies on stage and handing out roses, I'm sure he was taking the piss. U2 were phenomenal. They had this huge expensive sound that completely worked in the setting and it was all underpinned with Mullen and Clayton's solid dum, dum, dum. The Edge flew over the top of it all and despite Bonio being (IMO) a knob he's a first rate front man. TBH, Bonio doesn't bother me at all, he IWHI and you know what you're getting. I think U2 are a great band with some great songs and each member serves the song in the appropriate manner. Good luck to Adam Clayton. I'd rather be discussing my latest sig bass than waiting for the 0705 to Paddington and all that entails. I even think he looks pretty cool with the Reverso and the Streamer P looks ace. Just a pity it's not a Spector! Adam Clayton is a great ambassador for the bass. Not many people maybe able to afford his sig basses, but it might pique their interest enough to get started on a Squier. I grudgingly admitted to the GF at the end of the day that it was a great gig!
Spector must be the only brand he hasn't endorsed
 10.
Off topic, but my understanding is that there are a load of classic Stones songs that Wyman, Jones & Watts made major contributions to that are simpy credited to Jagger/Richards. I'd guess that from their perspective a smaller slice of a big pie was better than no pie at all.
After the financial revelations about his last divorce settlement and the hoo-ha about the screening rights to their Glasto appearance I don't see Jagger as the most financially generous bloke.
 11.
Nice guy. Mike and the Mechanics were on tour. We had a chat about how it felt to be in a more "straightforward" - his word - band, he was interesting and engaging.
Did you quiz him about any technical stuff; how did you get that sounds etc.?
 12. He was a master at melancholy lyrics.
 13.
Snowy White was a lovely bloke, absolutely charming. Had a chat with Mike Rutherford on a plane from Lisbon to Heathrow once, he was charming too. I've met Robert Plant three times, and he actually remembered me - that may not be such a good thing, thinking about it! One of the nicest guys on the planet, but doesn't suffer fools. That's it though, no famous bass players at all!
You spoke actual words and stuff with Mike Rutherford. Envy.
 14. Prompted by the recent Adam Clayton post (re The Edge playing bass occasionally) who else do we know of who's taken on the regular bass players parts? Ronnie Wood - bass on Maggie May.
 15.
Well, I never said Duke was a great story... ;-) I'd always thought/heard that the other tracks had also been loosely woven about that faded rock star midlife crisis theme/story which bookend the album, with liberal drawing on Collins' messy life of the time. Happy to file under "theme" rather than story, though. Good call, forgot that one. Love that album. I'll also chuck in Home ( and the NewYork Suite mini album) by Welsh proggers Magenta, Snow by Spock's Beard and with a loose storyline, Clone by Threshold...
Point taken re Duke. It's also worth remembering this was 1980 and the dinosaur bands had been given a caning through the punk years. Any mention of concepts was unwise. All explained in the Duke interviews available on YouTube.
 16.
After seeing them live in the early days I had my suspicions if that was Him playing on the first album or the edge perhaps ?
There's one song on an early Red Rocks vid where the Edge plays the bass.
 17.
Really? What's the story?
Thin stuff actually. I know that the first three tracks and the last two were originally written as a single suite a-la Supper's Ready (Tony's idea) but the band decided to split them up with random tracks. There might be a theme with some of the songs but certainly no concept.
 18.
Thick as a brick
...and Passion Play.
 19. Is that the shop by the big car park/market? Been in there and it ain't much cop. However, for a real rock & roll experience try the pub over the road, they have a peerless collection of... potato mashers hanging on the walls!
 20. ps. I forgot to mention - I have one of these (fretless) and it's a nice bass. Isn't there anyone on here who'll help you with the geography/transport? You could start a new Relay/Delivery thread
 21. I learned Time Is Running Out from a YTube vid. Ps. There's another thread on here somewhere about Chris's fuzz sound.
 22.
Someone once said Quo are the only band to become their own tribute act
Um, Yes are touring
