I heard for the Hyde Park gig Lynne agreed to turn up and play. I've always had the suspicion that Richard Tandy was brought back on board to do all the donkey work for that show?
Regarding him not being on the new album : its not just him - Jeff Lynne has produced the new Bryan Adams album, and he's also played pretty much everything on it too : guitar, bass, keys and drums. BA has done a lot of the guitars and vocals, and his regular lead player, Keith Scott, has done a good number of the solos, but other than that, it was all done in Jeff's house in the California hills, with just BA and Jeff. It's a poor album too IMHO, with some weak material, and only a couple of the tracks would have made it to an album in his heyday. It's also been bulked out with acoustic versions of the tracks - almost in demo format. Fair enough as added extras, but they make up a good part of the actual album.
He played a track (the new single I guess) on that quality music show Strictly Come Dancing the other week. As it progressed it became clear he's re-written Summer of '69. Maybe it'll still be in set lists in 30 years?

I'm another who's only heard the ropey stereo mixes so from what's been said these are probably worth the money.* * If you're downloading them on the cheap

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cprcYnffK_o Interesting bit from around 13 minutes in re a collaboration with Mike Tobias. Chris wanted a 4-string that went low because he wasn't comfy with 5-strings so they built one with four extra frets below E (to C). Clearly Chris wanted the higher notes too but it seems an odd way to go about it.
Very happy with this, think I'm finally settled. Although now I have this Glockenklang that goes down to 2.7 Ohms I see a third HD112 in my future.... What's the etiquette in this situation?

I'd have taken her hand and helped her up while standing firmly on the other one! -
Just had a quick look at the Boschma shallow case - at 280mm it isn't deep enough which is the problem I had with other stuff.

So many kids were having accidents because it wasn't tight enough that Raleigh made it a welded joint on subsequent models. And I didn't have one either, I had a Molton Minx!

Those Downfall skits are all great, and as has been rightly the said, the film itself is fascinating. I turned on 20 minutes in once and couldn't take my eyes off it. -

Just started the rackmount project with a Gator 6u short rack case. I wanted something deep enough for my Big Bang but not too deep. They're 14.25" deep from front rack to rear of rear lid which is ideal including cables etc. 2u, 3u, 4u and 6u sizes. The gap's for a mixer. Just thought this would be useful for anyone else looking. ps. Thomann are caning anyone else on price and they delivered in three working days.
Y'know, I thought I remembered that too, so just watched it back... Stipe did smile, and Jools really was a massive dick. Kicking off with basically accusing Stipe of going back on his word on live CDs, then asking if cameras put him off his performing stride (jeez mate, it's the bloke out of REM you're talking to), fishing for compliments for Later, getting weird about backstage behaviour, then that put-down about the two or three songs. What a snide. Stipe's obviously intense, but Holland's the worst interviewer on the planet. In which case I shall return to the original topic by nominating... Jools Holland.
This. Holland must have several awards in the male appendage dept. And by the way Jools, your show's getting ropier by the minute. -
My mate went to see U2 this week and Bono did his preach about this and that including bloody sunday and this gig was in London! Not forgetting he is mega-rich and a tax exile. Words fail me. He is the in a league of his own in my humble opinion. I mean the brass neck and shear hypocracy! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Davo
And at the risk of invoking the religious posts bar, they're all supposed to be christians! Isn't there something about rich men and the kingdom of heaven? -

Interesting comment about Roger Glover. I think there'd be some friendships at stake with the remaining member of Purple, seeing as how there was never any love lost between Ian Gillan and Blackmore, if either he or Ian Paice chipped in. And David Coverdale's on shotgun terms with him too. In any case wasn't the Rainbow rock family tree one of the biggest to choose from. Wasn't Neil Murray in the band for a while, or am I thinking of Whitesnake? -
Does dying whilst getting flaky and astronomically over-rated since count? Syd Barrett.

The Foo Fighters - are they THAT good?
spectoremg replied to spectoremg's topic in General Discussion
I thought Sonic Highway was brilliant too, but I always turned it off when The Foo's played the track they'd recorded for that episode; formulaic and dull. And I've always thought Dave Grohl was ever-so slightly keen to say the right things about the right landmark bands or artists - convenient like. -

spectoremg replied to spectoremg's topic in General Discussion
No. I like Dave Grohl immesenly, but Foo Fighters are my idea of hell. I loved Nirvana, but Foo Fighters seem like the kind of band Kurt would have despised. Nirvana even had a song called 'Radio Friendly Unit Shifter', which pretty well sums up the Foos for me. Didn't they sign a multi-million pound deal with Warmart for them to have exclusive rights to one of their newer albums and merchandise? Each to their own though.
The kind of band Kurt would have despised - I reckon you're right there. -
Brit Floyd in Pompey later this month.
