1.
bass sounds dreadful - i am nearby he could have borrowed my squire J and a trace boxer practice amp would have sounded much better than whatever it is he is playing through sounds like theyve mixed in ambient studio sound too much for that big echoey concrete shoebox effect edit - just been skipping through the episode - just how turgid is that slow duran song!!!
Thank you for being right!
2.
Hi guys, I have loads of Jules's progs recorded, but the one I keep re - playing is from about 12 to 18 months ago subtitled "legends". It goes back years but has the quality of acts that your talking about, Steve Miller band, Macca, The Who, some of Pink Floyd, to name but a few across the board good players. Worth a watch with about a dozen acts on, maybe just my opinion.
Is that the one with The Specials doing Gangsters? Never was so much fun had by a band!
3. Habit; his crew probably set up for a full gig regardless.
4.
Mingus by Joni Mitchell is one of my favourite albums but every time I try and convert someone they just won't have it. On the other foot I refuse to accept trout mask replica is anything other than nonsense. Great cover though!
+1. And I love all of that Joni period. Have you got Don Juan? Apparently Charlie didn't like the job she'd done on his stuff.
5. I'm a fan too of the band and John's sound but it was a bit weedy on the night. The kind of sound you'd expect from a purple bass
6. Here goes.... Scoundrel Days by A-ha. It's probably personal, but the first time it I heard it I was in Norway (Bergen). Admittedly a bit twiddly-diddly pop in places but the songs are great with beautiful lyrics.
7. Reckon I could live off the China Girl co-credit, but I don't have Iggy's lifestyle.
8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mark-Bass-6x10-Speaker-Cab-for-Bass-Amp-Used-By-Florence-and-the-Machine-RARE-/171868817591?hash=item28042e08b7:g:yjAAAOSwd0BVskpp This handled the bass end of the earache then.
9.
+1 It reminded me of my first ever Kay SG bass & Kay 5 watt amplifier, just horrible.
+2. We've come a long way with bass gear for it to sound that bad. It sounded a bit better when he switched to finger style.
10. Seeing these guys on Later gave me a funny feeling. They were ok though. JT's been a Peavey endorsee for ages now but I was minded of the thread about gear losing it's former glory. I like the look of those basses, just not in purple sparkle

12. Ta for all the replies people. Gift delivered and he's very happy with them. I won't say which one's because that seems a bit discourteous.
13. Wasn't the signature Sting Precision produced some time ago as a limited run? Shortly after he started using one (which had the scratchplate to start with). Sting said a while back that he doesn't like new basses. He's changed his tune since Spector, Ibanez and Steinberger amongst others were gifting him stuff.
14.
I think any sound can be musical. Apart from any sounds made by Metallica, obviously.
...and Motorhead...
15. This should probably be in 'other' but it involves amps and stuff. I'm looking to rack up two Markbass amps (LM3 and Big Bang) and a Moog Minitaur - 7u. I'm happy to go the full 19" with rack ears but I'm wondering if anyone's made a smaller case work? Thanks
16. Can't see a string groove holding at that tension. As previously suggested it looks like it's been wrapped around.
17. Hi everyone, This is me gigging at a teeny stadium with my four-piece traditional Irish tribute band. This is my green Fender Precision.... eh, what, it isn't a Fender? Sorry I meant my Warwick reverse something... not a Warwick? I thought I was endorsing them this week? Anyway, whatever, I think in this pic I'm playing an incredibly difficult root note progression. nb. Bass sorted: Jazz with block inlays.
18. I've occasionally transposed an octave up to pick out bass lines. Nero will do it.
19.
Oh - and have you ever thought about renting that space out between the p'up and neck for advertising!
I've always thought that?
20. I'm led to believe these were a limited run. 600w/4ohm. Cutaways on the back for handle and wheels. One speakon and two jack inputs/outputs. Tolex has a few knocks in places. Bought two years ago (2nd hand). Never gigged but I've given it some welly indoors and it works fine. It obviously weighs a ton so pick up only (it won't go in the new wheels so I can't offer local delivery). £180 on the front page but I'll accept OIRO.
