2.
Heatwaves on the runway ....
+1. Great pic too.
 3. Ladies and Gents, I'd appreciate some help please. My cousin's decided that for his upcoming 60th he'd like to give flats another whirl. He plays finger style funk/soul/Motown on an eighties bought Precision (see pic) through an Ampeg BA300 combo - no effects. He knows his current set of rounds are 45-105 gauge but doesn't know the brand. Probably looking for the minimum faff re tensions. All suggestions greatly appreciated. 4. I'm travelling in some vehicle, I'm sitting in some cafe, a defector from the petty wars that shell-shock love away.
 5. Could be worse, the could have just kept flogging a dead horse all these years

 7.
Dawn of light lying between a silence and sold sources, Chased amid fusions of wonder In moments hardly seen forgotten, Coloured in pastures of chance Dancing leaves cast spells of Challenge, Amused but real in thought, We fled from the sea whole. Dawn of thought transferred through moments of days undersearching Earth Revelaing corridors of time, provoking memories, Disjointed but with purpose, Craving penetrations offer links with the self-instructors sharp And tender love As we took to the air, a picture of distance. Dawn of our power we amuse redescending as fast as misused Expression, As only to teach love as to reveal passion chasing Late into corners, And we danced from the ocean. Dawn of love sent within us colours of awakening among the many Won't to follow, Only tunes of a different age. As the links span our endless caresses for the freedom of life Everlasting.
LOL!!!
 8.
The Police. Great singles, crappy albums.
What did you say?! I'll give you three of the five they made but Regatta de Blanc and Sychronicity were superb.
 9. Staggering to think he's been gone so long and a sad reminder of the circumstances of his demise.
 10.
I must admit, I've never tried it, but the slappy bit in "call me Al" sounds well solid ! Maybe someone will tell me it's actually easy. I must look at the tab sometime.
It's the first bit played forwards joined to the same bit played backwards.
 11.
Inspired by Bilbo's Steve Hacket thread. I find the fine line between genius and disaster interesting. I put forward Lawrence from Felt/Denim/Go Kart Mozart. Is he a wry commentator and skilled songsmith or just the loony next door who doesn't know what an email is? Mark E Smith likewise. Ritchie Blackmore from Highway Star to the Hey Nonny Nonny stuff on lutes while wearing Carry On Medieval get up. More will come to me. I'm not sure why I'm quite so intrigued by the no filter brigade. Maybe it's that they are true punk rock!
Don't forget Sting - he's got lute crime on his criminal record.
 12.
That's a hell of an idea. Tony once (kind of) said that Steve was his ally with the more proggy/noodly musical pieces.
Scratch that, what we need is for Peter Gabriel to quit whining, Collins to get fit again and we've got us the best thing to hit Ticketmaster/Stubhub in ages!
 13.
And another thing. I would love to see a collaboration between Hackett and Tony Banks. Before Mr. Hacket starts lobbing heavy objects in my direction, I don't think that will ever happen now, sadly.
That's a hell of an idea. Tony once (kind of) said that Steve was his ally with the more proggy/noodly musical pieces.
 14.
I heard the new album recently and in contrast to his early solo albums I can confirm it sounds absolutely, bloody awful. Totally bereft of interesting musical ideas, swamped in soup of digital reverb and songs with pitiful lyrics. I'm amazed why someone can't jump in and tell him where's he's going wrong. Awful artwork too.
This. And the album before that was the same.
 15.
All in a good cause, so good on them, but otherwise... well you know
See 'taste filter' comments.
 16. Massive Hackett fan here but you're dead right; he has absolutely no taste filter. Totally unique though. And if you haven't heard Spectral Mornings ('79) you should, or any of his late seventies output for that matter.
 17. Hans Peter Wilfer: 'Anyone got a skinny marker pen? No? Ok then this paint brush will do'.
 18.
I like squeeze too. I'm all for seeing music on TV but at least with OGWT you didnt have to listen to the BS. Sadly, I find Jools a struggle to watch. All those chats with musos that are desperately trying to be 'cool' and cultured but are pretentious just make me cringe. And sorry but Danny Baker makes me vomit
Didn't even see Danny Baker - was he on Friday's show? Was he plugging that dreadful sitcom about his teenage years. Squeeze did the equally dreadful theme tune on the Tuesday show.
 19.
The BBC pays the same for everyone.
So they're paying peanuts then?
 20.
It's about time they had some Prog act on it. The genre has seen a real resurgence over the last 10-15 years but it's never really been represented on the show. Spock's Beard will be touring whilst the current series is running, it would be refreshing to see them get a slot. But we'll get some pretty female rapper. Again. Probably.
+1. Now you've said it I've realised how 'safe' the acts are. And of course the ones who work cheap.
 21.
Didn't realise it was back on will set the recorder for the proper programme tonight. I see Squeeze are on, quite like some of their new material.
I didn't realise it was back either. Probably coincidence but I haven't seen one ad for it.
 22. A first for me; fast forwarding through the whole show. Poor (IMHO). The bass was good though.
 23.
I couldn't be so vulgar as to discuss money, but suffice to say it is a good price for what will be a great bass. The US orders all go through Mark at Bass Direct, if you have a look at the US basses there it's representative of what you might expect to pay. My build is a Forte which means it's stripped down (no inlays or fancy wood) and that is reflected in the price. I've tried as hard as I can to make it a players bass. Number 1 priority was weight, so I've got the Helium package with swamp ash wings and Hipshot Ultra-lites. Originally I ordered a quilt maple top, but Stuart advised against it due to increased mass, so we're trading looks for play-ability. For feel I'm getting a custom slim neck. I'd been interested in the Darkglass Tone Capsule, but Stuart recommended the Aguilar OBP3 as the best match for EMG 40DC's. She's a 35" 5'er in matte black, no inlays save for a very sharp double S abalone inlay on the 12th.
I look forward to seeing the pics - it sounds great.
 24.
I'm getting a Forte 5 Helium custom built and I get regular emails from Stuart himself. Makes me feel like the dogs-danglies. With the 3 layer US/Euro/Far East product there's something for everyone and the customer service makes you feel good about your decisions. In the States they have something called the Spector Hang where Stuart comes out and meets folk. Other companies could learn much from the way they do business.
Drool. What's the damage if you don't mind me asking?
