1. New answer to an old thread. I've been looking at the Eden ex112 and was also surprised to find they only have a single jack in a speaker with daisy-chain potential. Has anyone retrofitted speakons for this purpose?
2. Not crazy about the band, just mental about ticket rip-offs. I can't imagine how disappointing it must be to have been ripped off like that. As long as the government consider them to be savvy entrepreneurs nothing will change.
3.
However at those prices I doubt that the artists are seeing any of the money you spend. In fact looking at the legal info it appears that the company running the site is based in the Ukraine and is probably using the Russian copyright "loophole" to avoid paying royalties to anyone. As musicians we really shouldn't be using these sorts of sites.
You're right, they're using the copyright loophole. As a consumer I want the best deal, and let's not be naive here, we're talking about rich rock stars, not lowly musicians. And by the way I hope you apply the same high-mindedness to all the child labour clothing you're wearing.
4. Miguel Falcao, now there's an idea!
5. Mp3va. Used it now for a couple of years. Cheap as chips and no problems.
6.
Good point. Seemed to work for Genesis. Ah. No wait...
...and Genesis went a bridge too far by trying to survive without Collins - a cancelled American tour. Ok, a frontman ain't a bass player. I think the creative tank was empty for Yes a very long time ago Squire or not, so that isn't going to be a factor. Like has already been said it'll be the fans who vote with their wallets.
7. I grew up with this guy too. Aged 15 a mate presented me with a copy of Fragile; great music, virtuoso playing, a stunningly presented Roger Dean gatefold and a really cool guy with the coolest bass I'd ever seen. RIP Chris Squire. A legend.
8. Pickup and control knob layout by Stevie Wonder?
9. Some string ideas...
10. My first combo in '99 was a 2x10 version... my first prolapsed disc was in '03.
11. Does he do retro-reviews? (U2's album please).
12.
Here's John demonstrating that playing with a pick needn't and shouldn't be crap.
What a cracking bit of video, looks like it was edited by a musician too instead of the usual 'focus on the singer' approach.
13. IMO after John died and the band disintegrated it was the last time Tull were a proper band. The music got poorer too.
14. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/glastonbury-2015-lineup-acdc-will-happily-play-if-michael-eavis-asks-9898423.html They'd go down well.
15. Been listening to a lot of Tull lately; particularly Songs From The Wood/Heavy Horses - a great period for the band with this excellent bass player. RIP John.
16.
Yeah, 90125 sounds exactly like Time and A Word to me...
Sorry, I meant after a certain period. Come to think of it it was around 90125 that they started to regress!
17. If you're clever you can synchonise with the other ten thousand bands who are playing it on the same night. There's at least a couple off threads on here to that effect.
18.
There's a Welsh Pink Floyd tribute called - Caerffili with that axe Eugene
19.
Heard 'Let's Dance' on the radio this afternoon. Almost convinced myself it was a keyboard there's such a heavy synth effect on it.
Thinking about it today it sounds like there's a guitar playing exactly the same notes?
20. The trouble with Yes is they're a 'progressive' band who didn't progress. Mind they've had some fun along the way - The Buggles!
21.
I think it might have been a charted, written piece by Nile Rogers. From the way he talks about the Lets Dance album in his autobiography, Rojas (for whatever reason) couldn't play a line for one of the songs so Rogers got Bernard Edwards in to play it from a pre-written chart. Edwards nailed in it one take.
Edwards has a credit on 'Without You'.
22.
I learned the Lets Dance line a few years ago. The notes are really uncomplicated but I think you need a really solid drummer who knows what they're doing to be able to pull them off. There is so much groove in the bass line.
One of those rhythm tracks that's very 'empty' and thus requires spot on timing and discipline.
23.
I agree wholeheartedly and whilst you're at, it how about someone doing an Abba or Eagles Tribute Band too?
24.
Hair? wear it long, go for it, whatever your age. That gig, *sigh* As a lifelong Yes fan, it pained me to watch it, they all look so bored apart for Jon Davidson. In the Comments for the Vid someone mentioned a Jon Anderson/Todmobile collaboration with a Link to 'Awaken' my Fave yes song, WHAT A DIFFERENCE, a lively energetic performance of a gorgeous song that had me with goosebumps and tears of Joy.
I think that's my problem, I still rate their early stuff as some of my favourite music but this is tragic. I think they're stuck in a tour/live album vortex. And Jon Anderson should stay where he is - he's well out of it.
