1.
Yeah but that's the kind of sadness I embrace and live for
And who am I to judge
 2.
Really. This Is a topic that comes up a lot on here when people want to know which bass to buy. What contributes to the sound in their head. Your sneering remakes make you sound like a narrow minded no it all.
Sneering remakes - is that Sneering the sequal?
 3.
This has to be a saddest thread ever started, surely we've got better things to frown upon ? I say fair play to them
This isn't the saddest thread, http://basschat.co.uk/topic/264096-the-old-maplerosewood-topic-but-with-results-from-the-herts-bass-bash/ this is.
 4.
Quality lyrics from Waters. Something David Gilmour with Poly Sampson never achieved after he left, but apparently they were not too bothered. I thought the quote was 'upper sixth form'. Never heard of upper fifth.
The less said about the Mr & Mrs Gilmour collaboration the better.
 5. Grantchester Meadows from Ummagumma ain't too shabby in the lyrics dept. either.
 6. Um, shouldn't there be an 11th commandment about having too many frets?
 7.
One World is a great album to start with - just when he was getting into his SG/Echoplex stuff and features a really lovely ambient track (Small Hours) with Steve Winwood guesting on keys to close the album. I remember the first time I heard John Martyn was on an Alan Freeman Saturday afternoon Radio 1 show in 1977 - he played the track One World. I thought John Martyn was a black American blues singer, not a white Scottish folk singer. What a voice!
I'll give that a go.
 8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvSA1zR-bGM Is there a point in a man's life where he should give up long hair?
 9.
Looking back, the amazing thing for me is how he could write such insightful and thought-provoking lyrics as a young man in his twenties, which somehow made sense to me and fascinated me as a thirteen year old, yet now I'm in my fifties, they resonate with me on a much deeper level and have even more impact?.
I think, although he probably didn't realise it at the time, he examined themes that are as relevant today if not more so than they were then; greed, mental health etc. I think he said as much himself in the Dark Side documentary.
 10.
Who is Roger Water?
Oops.
 11. John Martyn, one of those artists I consistently ignore but am amazed every time I hear his stuff!
 12. Now, Sychronicity's got some nice lyrics...
 13. This was the album of choice in the car today - what a cracking uncomplicated but appropriate bunch of bass lines. Did Carmine Rojas come up with the title track bass line himself? (nicked by Terence Trent D'Arby for Wishing Well).
 14.
I remember that quote but thought he was referring to Echoes. I've always enjoyed his lyrics, although he can get a tad morose at times, The Final Cut for example.
You've jogged my memory - he was referring to Echoes. And the Wish You Were Here track lyrics are beautiful. How did a posh kid from Cambridge come up with those?
 15. Having a listen to Wish You Were Here (album). Waters once described his lyrics on Dark Side as typically 'upper fifth form'. I disagree and think that on both these albums the lyrics are superb; poignant and moving. I particularly like 'the papers hold their folded faces to the floor and every day the paper boy brings more'.
 16. Well done for doing your best to set the record straight. Is that offset waist shape non-standard?
 17.
"Tons of character" :-) That character has been built by being repeatedly shot at by the look of it!
23. It's be specific day! I don't know much about the history and construction of these basses, but it looks like Mr Clarence Leonidas 'Leo' Fender and his design team got the pickup in the right place!
 24. Sting was an endorsee back in the day (fretless).
