1. Ashdown ABM 810, and I want it. Damn exams.
2. That's ok, but the single 12 will get double the power of the other 12's, make sure you account for that.
3. I've used Sennheiser and had some good results. A good quality preamp with a decent eq will do wonders!
4.
We need a decent cheap cab company over here, like Avatar in the US. I was reading a thread over on TB about "cheap rigs of doom", and some of the stuff these Americans have bought for less than $1000 is outrageous... you never find amps and cabs that cheap over here.
Which is the case for most products over there. Stuff is just cheaper full stop.
5. I might be selling my 412 in a month or so, if you're in Cheltenham and are still looking when I'm selling you can give it a try. It's a good cab, unbranded, but made properly. Aaaand I've just noticed you want the cab for Leicester.
6. What cabs have you got and what overall impedance are you trying to achieve? If you're trying to make a 412 then you can create an 8 ohm cab with 4 8 ohm speakers in a series/parallel combination.
7. Just download WinISD and have a play. You input the parameters of the voice coil (speaker) you'll be using and it tells you a set of reccomended dimentions. http://www.linearteam.dk/ It's free!
8. Really remeber to use WinISD pro, you'll need to tune your cab, especially when porting. It's not as simple as just wacking a speaker in a box, each individual speaker will peform well with its own specifcally designed enclosure. Are you going to port the cab? Because if you do you'll end up with a much more sensitive (louder) cab but the maths gets a little complicated. Theres a timber yard down near Waitrose in Stroud (last time I checked).
9. Make 'em up, nobodys going to check. You can just say they are from, 'a collection of bass guitar players'. Easy enough. How are you going to go about making the cab? Are you looking to use Neo drivers? There are lots of things that you need to consider, because if you simply use thin MDF to make the cab you may find that it rattles itself apart!
10. You have the best colour sense in the world. Woo redblack!
11. Wow! Why didn't you put a bid on it and sell it on?
12. It's just because it sounds more showy to people who aren't bassists, which is the majority of the audience. They think, 'eh wow, how'd you get that sound of a bass. He must be awesome!'. If you know about the actually difficulty of putting down a solid groove line you're going to apprechiate it more, and hence think it's better. If you don't know about that difficulty the slap line sounds better, and therefore 'is' better. If that makes sense.
13. Every time I see Bill Lawrence products they just confuse me. I just think, why is the writer of Scrubs messing about with guitar products. My small little brain can't get over the fact that two people can have the same name..
14.
Ear infections are not amusing!
They stop you from being able to Scuba dive as well! When my Shures break i'll probably go for the Bose ones! Cheaper and they look more comfortable, thanks!
15. Whoops! I didn't realise you were talking about: I thought you were talking about: This invalidates all my previous comments. (Why would Bose give them basically the same name simply to confuse me! ) I guess the title of the thread should've given it away really, stupid me.. Sorry!
16. Well it's hardly just musicians that suffer. Anyone and everyone who sends something heavy/valuable/fragile will end up have something destroyed eventually.
17. I think someone should ship themselves and a baseball bat somewhere. Then when they break thier leg they can jump out and 'deal' with the person in question.
18. The start of 'trancing' is exactly like Feed The Fire by Hundred Reasons. Well, same two power chords anyway.
19.
Fair point Spiky and I know it was a lot (was less than £100 but I'm adding a bit on for inflation) but there was no way I was going to muck around inside the amp when I had no idea what was going on in there and I now have a warranty from Panic for the conversion. Better safe than sorry for me when dealing with these sorts of things.
Well that's more than fair enough then!
20. It is odd. But solid state power sections won't care what they see. As long as its not below what they can handle! Min 2 ohms for 3 ohms and min 4 for 6. Tube power sections only like having set impedances iirc.
21. On bassworld you could only delete your previous post if nobody else had replied or posted after you. That was useful. Is it the same now?
22. I'd class them as completely different types of headphones, I don't know about other people but I'd feel like a complete berk with full blown 'overthehead' headphones. I agree with the slightly weak bass of the shures, but that's mainly due to the completely different size of driver. The bose will have a much larger driver, and hence will be more bassy. The triports are twice the price of the Shure's as well. It would be interesting to find out how the E3c or E4c compares.
23. My old singer has one. They are so goddamn fun to jam too! Especially as it has all the technodancecrap settings. Hilarious!
24.
Joe Morgan from old InMe was pretty good, no one really seems to know him.
Thats true. Mosaic had an awesome bassline. Took me a while to get that down properly.
