1. Woooooooooooo for 4 string Shukers!
2. I rewired my B4r myself, it was a very easy job. Just a case of moving a few crimp connectors. I did have an ampeg technician to tell me which ones to move to where though. The point is that I didn't have to use another transformer, basically by me rewiring it in parallel instead of series (or vica versa) it took 240v instead of 110v. Don't have a clue about the Pro 6. But you never know. Step down transformers would need to be rated at more than the wattage of the amp itself, so with the amp in question you're talking at least 1100VA. And they aren't exactly cheap. It'll get very hot as well. Edit: Muppet it cost you £120! Jeesus, that's alot for labour. I changed the circuit breaker and a few fuses as advised, parts totaled around £8 or something. It was then a 5 minute job to swap the connections. I wouldn't do it if the amp had a warranty, but if you're importing the amp you're not going to have a warranty anyway.
3. I really don't know how I get so lucky. I've never been hit by import charges, and I've had a fair few valuble items from the states/hong kong/singapore etc. Odd.
4. Don't post anything valuable by a courier, ever. I just am sick and tired of them breaking everything I send. And I pack like a beast, I have access to millions of miles of free bubblewrap and cardboard etc at work. They just like to break stuff. Either send it via a manwithavan or drive it yourself. Claiming for insurance is such a bloody hassle, most of the time they'll find a way out of it. They just aggravate me so goddamn much. I ALWAYS make the recipitent sign for the package, 'unchecked' but I've been through a few instances where they just haven't done so and i've lost a fairly hefty amount of money because of it. If you have to send a bass, make a small bass coffin out of wood and nail it up tight, full of bubble wrap and similar.
5. What makes thier drivers so special that they can't handle tube heads?!
6.
but it CAN do clean.
But you can't.
7. With all your eq settings up to full, gotta love it. And I bet the bottom channel is your clean one, seeing as that drive is so damn low.
8. Why were you shopping in the jungle?!
9. Valve pre into solid state poweramp. Although there is only 1 valve in the Ashdown. Boo.
10. Tuner, pre and poweramp. Simple. I used to have a compresser, but I found I only used it for the noise gate. It's a 6U rack and its bordering on being far too heavy. When I find some money I'm going for a 3U, tuner 1U pre and 1U power. Bliss.
11.
I wouldn't mind a cookie now, so I'd be inclined to accept it. Anyhow, I found that pressing Alt and F4 took care of my problem!
I so nearly fell for that..
12. Withdrawing it is free over £50. And then you've got the option to buy anything you want, including all the shops that accept paypal..
13. To validate if an auction is geniune or not on ebay all you need to do is ask if you can collect, if you can then what've you got to loose? It's not like you'll give your money away if there isn't a bass, and if there is then score! Christchurch and Dunedin are in NZ yes, which does make it a little suspect. But if he says you can collect from X (uk town/city) then all you're risking is a journey.
14. Well remeber that the main use for the poweramps is as part of a PA system, so if you can find a shop that sells alot of PA equipment then you might find something you are looking for.
15. Thanks! Was done with a compact as well! I should get round to taking some proper pictures of it with the SLR.
16. And I'll have 'em if Ant dies.
17. A very good place to judge preamps from is the following website: http://www.basstasters.com/ Lots and lots of clips to listen too. There are plenty of preamps out there. As for the poweramp side of things, I personally believe that it doesn't make that much difference in shaping your sound. You can spend lots of money on a power amp if you wanted, but there are some very good value ones out there. I use a behringer one, it's not gone wrong in 2 years. However brands such as Yamaha and QSC have some good value stuff out there as well and they are obviously a bit better quality.
18.
Little MarkII + Tech ND412 S
I don't know why but I find that extremely funny. Littlebig!
19. I wasn't no, I was tucked up in bed after a long night out yesterday. Haha. Why do you ask?
20. If you're willing to spend £200 or so, why not go with seperates? http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.ph...pid=CAMB-A5-SIL http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.ph...mp;pid=CAMB-S30 And then I would reccomend buying a dedicated subwoofer as soon as you can, makes a huge difference to the sound. Something like this would do: http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.ph...mp;pid=TANN-EFX You can have a look on ebay as well, there will probably something interesting in your local area.
21. Not all amps will remove the hamful frequencies and these can generally can hurt speakers, especially when/if you hit hard and cause the amp to clip. Why not try a crossover? They aren't insanely expensive and that way there will be little or no way to damage the amps with normal use. Or even a unibass which has a dedicated guitar amp output. Also, if you're looking for more distingused trebble, output into the PA you use and use that to add a bit more kick. They should be able to handle a full range.
22. Not at the moment unfortunally. Have joined a new band pretty recently and are gearing outrselves up to start gigging sometime soon.
