  1. Thanks to this thread I now run... Bass > Grace Design Alix > Effectrode PC-2A Compressor > QSC K12.2 ...if there is PA support I use the QSC as a monitor and run a line out of it to the desk or if there's no PA I just use it as backline. I used to go... Bass > HX Stomp > QSC K12.2 ...also a great option.
  2. I realise the HX Stomp has much more than you need but it is a very good option that'll do exactly what you are after and there is also huge potential in it should you need it in the future. I had 'scenes' for each song that I simply moved through as per the set. I used a fraction of it's spec, slight variations in EQ, and amp models, very subtle effects here and there. What I'm saying is don't rule it out because it can do loads of things you don't currently need when it will do exactly what you want now extremely well. Also it is great fun to just muck about with and you have lots of users/experts on here who are willing to help out when/if you get stuck with something.
  3. I put the mockers on it...
  4. The title of Michael Bublé's forthcoming autobiography, there.
  5. Is there going to be a 2024 Midlands Bash? Thoroughly enjoyed the last one.
  6. That sounds like a pretty close description of the PC-2A!
  7. Yes, very organic and round. It was a compressor that @Osiris suggested as he is familiar with our music and it was a perfect recommendation.
  8. Firstly, paging @Osiris Secondly I have the Effectrode PC-2A. I play semi-hollow short scale basses in an acoustic duo and the mellow warmth of the PC-2A is second to none, lovely. Where are you @bassjamm? You are welcome to try it out any time.
  9. Ah, except I was the drummer for Ian Jury and the Blockheads along with Roy What? Normandy on bass.
  10. I specifically bought the Waza Craft tuner because it matched my preamp, but then I bought a white compressor... 🙄
  11. I have tried out the Gretsch short scales and they are way heavier than they look. I had a Nordstrand Acinonyx and I was concerned about just how narrow the string spacing was but it played beautifully and was comfortable and stupidly light. I regret selling mine on and am seriously contemplating getting another.
  12. Mick Karn JJ Burnel Jah Wobble
  13. That's delicious!
  14. Yeah, digging this... Finished the album, very much enjoyed it.
  15. Paging @EBS_freak...
  16. Hmmmm, deepest dub techno, atmospheric ambient, liquid drum'n'bass from Russia, listening on YouTube...
  17. Go to Newtone Strings and get them to make up a set exactly to your own specs. I use them on all my short scale basses.
  18. Counter-intuitively there is no noticeable change to flatulence pitch, however, oddly, one's pïss goes bright green.
  19. Not if it involves being filled with helium from behind.
  20. I have won the day 383 times, almost exclusively off-topic posts in the DOI, something I'm rather embarrassed about. I would personally prefer for off-topic posts not to garner statistics, after all, this is a site specifically for the discussion of bass. There should, of course, be an off-topic section but the fact that I have won the day so often for making funny posts on a obscure branch of off-topic when there are hundreds of expert bass players sharing priceless information seems faintly ridiculous to me.
  21. Actually I really do... ...wop de woodle wop, do wop, etc.
