  1. Great songs though, more notes and technical prowess does not a good song make.
  2. You know what, after reading a few reviews of both I think I'm going with your advice, I'm on the Macbook mostly at the moment and I can go straight into Logic Pro X via the Scarlett Solo, which is even cheaper on Amazon. Thanks for the advice Sir.
  3. Oh no, just curious. I think he'd prefer a wood finish Wal but I don't think he's thinking of selling, nor is there anything wrong with the Wal, I just thought owners with oldies like these had them checked over.
  4. Derek Forbes did indeed play with Propoganda...
  5. Just posting some pics for a friend @Wal ly of mine who has just joined the forum, hopefully this post will encourage him at least as far as the introductions thread. Anyway he has a couple of choice basses including a Wal that neither of us know much about, like how much these sell for, should it go back to Wal for a check up that sort of thing ...
  6. Again, thanks to the latest Stewart Maconie’s Freak Zone (listening to a recording of it) his featured album this week Vaiko by Pan Sonic...
  7. Superb. I’m just looking at 30 pin to lightning adapters at the mo because I think the Solo comes with the former.
  8. Bass > Stomp > QSC K12.2 my never going back to a trad amp and cab rig right there. Great price too.
  9. My experience of slap is quite limited As my musical background went prog > punk > new wave. I briefly enjoyed Mark King but to me (imho) it’s very fast clicky and utterly soulless, it might be technically brilliant but it doesn’t move me. There are some Level 42 tracks where he does some finger style stuff I like but it’s a brief glimmer of sun before the clackity clouds come in again. Likewise Stanley Clarke doesn’t move me much either, it’s probably just not my bag. Mind you, having said all that, new wave is peppered with little slappy odds and sods ... ... Paul Raven would slap occasionally, I asked him about it once. “It’s forgivable as long as the thumb isn’t upright, that’s a signal, an upright bass slapping thumb is a signal to Satan notifying him of a soul ripe for harvest.”
  10. Damn, yes I do and I meant to mention that in the original post, I’ve not done it but any experiences of using a Stomp as an interface are welcome.
  11. Whatever you do don't click the Sandberg Configurator, oh no.
  12. Excellent, what software do you record on to?
  13. I have a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (2nd Gen) interface which is fixed into a wooden studio rack. It sits on a desk and is plugged into an iMac which sits on the rack. Now since lockdown I'm not really using that room as more important work is going on in there and on that computer. I'm usually in a different room on a Macbook talking gibberish on the DofI thread but when not doing so I'm writing a lot of new bass lines. I want to record these to send over to my musical partner. Now I also have Logic Pro X on the machine upstairs but I don't want a) the faff of humping that interface up and down the stairs nor b) the rigmarole in setting it all up for just a few bars of bass. What I need is a small very portable rig that I can have to hand so I can quickly plug the bass into and then into the laptop, or even better the iPad, and record. I've been looking at the Focusrite Scarlett Solo but also at the iTrack Solo. Anyone have experience of such devices or similar? I have a little Roland R-05 recorder that's ok for recording duo rehearsals but it's no good for an un-amplified bass. As usual any tips on simply recording bass on its own for file sharing with other band members or experience of the devices mentioned or, indeed, any others most welcome. Cheers.
  14. Was just about to say that, this is a stunning bass.
  15. I received a prompt reply from John, thanks again.
  16. I have done just that, cheers Alan.
  17. Cheers Alan. The springs were in the short scale Recurve which has the East UNI-PRE 4K preamp, any idea where I can get a replacement spring?
