  1. Kind of Blue is a mainstay on the iPod but I'll certainly listen to more with Mr Chambers. I'm not sure I'll be able to get around my intense dislike of Billie Holliday's voice to listen to that album but I'll give it a shot. I realise this is probably some kind of Jazz heresy but there it is.
  2. He does make some interesting noises and spread across a range of genres, v interesting indeed.
  3. I am so digging this.
  4. He was never forgotten by me. His peculiar, verging on the gothic, demeanour and delivery, his strange songs peppered with 70s sexism and yet he will also sing heart wrenching songs like Molly Metcalfe and my personal favourite The Hair Of The Widow Of Bridlington. Odd man, odd songs.
  5. Just back from Stewart Lee at The Cliffs, excellent as usual.
  6. Thanks to @lemonstar ...
  7. Totally, @Jabba_the_gut updates have been missed.
  8. Actually loving this.
  9. I've witnessed bare knuckle boxing in a barn in Somerset about three years ago, and it was a sorry sight to see men goading them on in such a barbaric fashion. And I'm rather ashamed to say I was party to that goading, two men fighting as I saw in the barn that night, naked as the day they were born and fighting the way God intended. Wrestling at points - I don't know if you've seen "Women In Love", that marvellous scene by the fire. It kind of resembled that.
  10. I love her clunky dancing!
  11. One of my favourite players, love Tina Weymouth, what’s not to like?
  12. We aren’t making this easy for @Burns-bass, perhaps the poor fellow should toss a coin? 😙
  13. I have no problem using the Schallers as regular strap buttons.
  14. I have the opening bars of Such Sweet Thunder as my ringtone, love it.
  15. I'll look into Pithecanthropus Erectus, why Mingus has never really appeared on my radar before I don't know, thats a stupid statement, of course he's a player I know about but I haven't listened to as much. Enjoying Concierto very much, cheers.
  16. Ah got you. Seems to hold the particular straps I use securely enough.
  17. Here’s a pic of the Schaller strap button for n the ACG which is an eleven year old strap button and also a pic of a Schaller S-Lock strap button that’s three months old. They look very similar, if not the same and I can use a normal strap securely with both.
  18. You can use a normal strap with the Schaller strap buttons that came on the eleven year old ACG and with the Schaller S-Lock strap buttons too.
  19. I think you are right, ACGs now come with Dunlops as standard, my ACG Harlot, which is an early build, came with Schallers.
  20. Thank you Sir. The ACG Harlot had the Schallers installed since it was built in 2009, I bought the S-Locks because they are compatible with the older Schaller strap buttons that came on the bass, they snap in crisply and are are really firm. When the Schallers are engaged it feels like both components become one solid unit, the Dunlops (which, btw, are on a much newer bass) rattle a bit and don’t inspire quite as much confidence.
  21. I’ve got to ACG basses, one with Dunlops and one with Schaller S-Locks. The Schallers are really nicely made and I feel confident with the bass on the strap, the Dunlops are not as sturdy and I find them more fiddly to use. No doubt it’s a matter of personal taste but imho the Schallers are superior in every way.
  22. Brian Bromberg - Wood...
  23. Liking Renku too...
