  1. I don’t know why this gets me right in the guts in a way that’s exactly right and it was the first thing that popped into my head when I heard the phrase ‘bass drop’. Around 2:55 when the guitar and vocals drop out ... One of the many PiL/Jah Wobble reasons I love bass. About 1:36 where the entire mix turns bass heavy ... The opening of this track is bass heaven, it’s like getting into an audio bath ...
  2. Sounds to me like you just need an active bass.
  3. Yes it’s taking me an age to get through but that’s because each player leads off down a warren of discovery.
  4. I think postponing is the right thing, as @Andyjr1515 rightly points out, it’s an inevitability. Just hold another one as soon as you can once we have some kind of all clear, we’ll all be right there, had a gas last time.
  5. Can I just ask Sir, what bass is that in the pic? Have just begun thinking about starting on upright, that looks (with its fingerboard dots) a good place to start.
  6. @scrumpymike don’t be out of pocket with the cancelling of the hall, let us know if that’s even a possibility and I’m sure I can speak for others by saying we can chip in and cover it.
  7. Agreed, a very lovely thing to look forward to.
  8. Absolutely. I hope it’s all sorted, somehow, by then but I can’t imagine it.
  9. As a diabetic I’m in one of the risk groups with this virus so until things improve markedly I’m not going to this or to the SW Bash either, seems the common sense thing to do.
  10. Fixed. Updated list with the gap (and me) removed. 1. @jebroad Dingwall, Squire silver jazz, schecter fiver, ashdown 8x10, whatever heads I can dig out 2. @Len_derby . Swift Lite bass. A couple of raffle prizes 3. @Andyjr1515 No idea what I'll be bringing bass-wise, but I'll definitely be bringing me (and maybe @Len_derby and maybe @SpondonBassed?) 4. @Teebs Hinnocent 5. @Stub Mandrel's (Naughty Jama Corner) - Fender Flea bass, Fender performer plus surprise guest bass(es), Trace Elliot GP11 Mk. 11 1110 Combo, Joyo XVI - 6. @Richard R's (cheap bit on the side as all the corners are taken) - Brawley Artemis KB14 with steel strings,, EBS Session 60, possibly a bitsa to get some advice on, scales to weigh basses with, cake, something for the raffle,
  11. Doveridge Village Hall, Sand Lane, Doveridge, Ashbourne DE6 5JQ
  12. Christopher Wesley White ... and some bloke on trumpet.
  13. Yessir, that's in the bag. Big Oscar Peterson fan here.
  14. Lately I have been noticing similarities between the playing of Chris Squire and Les Claypool, however, that may just be the drugs. Chris Squire was a big influence on me as a a young teen, not that I played bass then but I loved that sound. I'm not impressed by technical playing when it appears simply to be for the sake of technical playing but Squire was a notable exception, it was always a great groove.
  15. I'm type 2 as well but as such our condition is (hopefully) under control with drugs so our risk of contracting it is similar to those without but there are possible complications if we do contract it. Personally I'm just not taking any risks whatsoever.
  16. Incredible instruments, I love mine, this is a beautiful example.
  17. Excuses? Common sense I think would be a more apt description. Much as I love the SWBB I think that very common sense will be prevailing in my case.
  18. As a diabetic I’m firmly in the ‘at risk’ category and going nowhere until we are over the ‘peak’.
  19. There are people more at risk than others but those not at risk potentially become ‘super spreaders’ as in they don’t feel I’ll still all or only have very mild symptoms so carry on behaving as normal thus spreading the virus about.
  20. I three at the moment, two ACGs and a Rob Allen but considering selling both ACGs to fund a decent Fender.
  21. No worries!
  22. Yes they work. My 11 year old ACG had Schallers installed and they work perfectly well with the latest version.
  23. Welcome Sir.
  24. Yes, autopsy videos were a big part of SPKs thing too, yeech.
  25. However, everyone else will be in self-isolation.
