    Absolutely, I think, really, I just know I won’t persevere and it’ll end up sitting in the rack doing nothing and I can’t bear that, I’d rather it was being played by someone, and it was my last flirtation with a 34” scale length, strictly short scale for me from now on!

    No Sir, I’m just not getting along with five strings, regardless of the tunings, and pah to none of your business, it’s very interesting info and that’s what the forum is all about so cheers! Had I got on with it in any sense I would have had a set up and persisted but it’s just confirmed I’m a four string fellow.

    ***SOLD*** This is a hell of a lot of bass for pennies really... Bought this bass Two days ago (Tuesday 10th Sept.) from @lcu1988 just to see how I got on with five strings, turns out I don't so back on sale today (Thursday 12th Sept., Shirley this is a Craig David lyric?). I have restrung it with a new set of D'Addario EXL165s E-A-D-G-C (it was originally B-E-A-D-G) so you are getting £23 set of new strings (plus a new high C) and £25 knocked off @lcu1988's original price earlier this week. It has a couple of dings that I've shown in pics. Hurry if you want this bargain because I'm off to Bass Direct on Monday with a couple of BCers and I'm almost certainly going to get a HX Stomp and if this hasn't gone I'll probably trade it in. No case I'm afraid, it didn't come with one, actually I just found a Thomann gigbag under the stairs that doesn't quite fit it but will get it to your gaff. Happy to drive and meet or deliver to you in person, any questions, fire away.

    ***NOW SOLD*** Thought I'd try a five string, couldn't make up my mind in a shop so bought a 1st generation Sire V7 Marcus Miller from @lcu1988, a gentleman of this parish, on Tuesday (10th). Got it home and played it for the rest of the day and all day yesterday, not sure I got on with it. The bass was strung B-E-A-D-G. Took it to a lesson this morning, played it some more still not sure I got on with it, restrung it with a new set of D'Addarios but this time E-A-D-G-C because I thought I'd prefer it, however, turns out I'm just not cut out for fivers however they are strung! So that fad lasted all of three days, just about to put it up for sale. Great bass, especially for not much money but just not for me. First pic is mine, next three are from the original ad.

    Excellent band, saw them at Futurama 3 (1981 I believe). Burnt my leg jumping over a bonfire I seem to recall, then again I was very, very... drunk.

    So much ukulele hate here, I didn’t realise ukelelism of this sort would be tolerated on this forum, moderators! Some of my best friends play the ukulele imagine their poor bare laps once we leave the EU... 😁

    Get in touch with Hercules, they will probably replace it.

    I think you can get similar faults with other stands but the thing about Hercules is that they seem to acknowledge the problem and be quick to rectify it. I actually think it makes the brand worth using.

    Yes. By my experience anyway and they are pretty good at sorting it out if you do have problems.

    I think there was a period during which some Hercules stands developed this problem, I have stands from before and after that period and they are fine. I bought a couple earlier this year and I checked with the salesperson that the stock was new and assured me that the newer stands were made of different materials. He knew about the this fault in particular and assured me that Hercules had taken steps to rectify it. Never had a problem with any of mine.
