While the demand for fixed line infrastructure is found to be independent of the demand for mobile infrastructure, the demand for mobile infrastructure depends on fix-line infrastructural demand. Similarly, mobile investments depend on fixed line investments but fixed line investments are found to be independent. While fixed line infrastructure is installed at a point in time without a competitive infrastructure being already in place, mobile supply and also mobile demand depend on the fixed line market situation. These findings support the idea of asymmetric substitutability effects between competitive infrastructures in European telecommunication markets. Or at least I thought this to be true, how do you feel about it?

I am absolutely LOVING Karn right now! 😍
In my ‘umble opinion it simply doesn’t get any better, he’s top of the shop as far as I’m concerned.

Cheers. It’s probably in the house somewhere but last time I saw it was at the Bash.
Ignore me, I found it, duh 🙄

Thanks @Zoe_BillySheehan for pointing me in the direction of The Tooth Mother, excellent album, nicely mind-bending playing from Mick Karn as per.

That's brilliant. Are you going to a tutor? Or learning from books/Internet? Would appreciate any tips 😊
I’m going to a tutor once week, doing a lot of transcription and scales.

I can relate to the no musical training thing... Note names are foreign to me... I learn by ear mostly! But always wish I started with a load more music theory!
Exactly the same here although I’m getting tuition now, finally, after forty years.

I read an interview with Mick Karn, I think from around the time of Tin Drum, where he explained he didn’t have any musical training, I think he said “I don’t know a C from an E”. The rest of Japan would rehearse up an idea into a song but MK would sometimes just see the title of the song from the lyrics and let that inspire his bass line, then he’d take that bass line to the rehearsal and invariably it was so good the band would rework the entire song around his line. Yer’ proper one off Mr Karn.

OK - I'll start off the raffle prizes. I will contribute this:
A number of you have already seen it at previous bass bashes and - until the website wiped all of the avatars - this was my avatar since joining Basschat, so it's only fitting
It's a Squier Jaguar - the original full scale version. Great to play; hmmm...Seymour Duncan 'designed' p/ups - not the most exciting but eminently upgradable; passive electrics; stacked volume tone for each pup; D'addario Chromes; one of my early veneering jobs; remodelled scratchplate covered in automotive-go-faster-carbon-fibre matting; natural sides and back:

Lord above, raffletastic...

Might bring my 'stack' then, just for the hell of it 🙂
There were several ‘stacks’ at the SW Bass Bash all adding to the general cacophony.

I can't really offer help on your main question but I will say don't be nervous about asking questions! I've asked some real no-brainers in my time here and always get helpful responses (usually with some shenanigans mixed in)
Agreed. I’m continually asking such questions and get really helpful answers.

Those are MIM necks for that price, and the MIA necks are well over twice that from what i can see.
I got a MIM replacement neck to go on a Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass I used to own, the neck was gorgeous.

Sorry to hear that Frank! Nothing reported so far but I'll ask the caretaker just in case.
Cheers. It’s probably in the house somewhere but last time I saw it was at the Bash.

It’s a little late in the day now but somehow I managed to misplace a black TC Electronics Polytune clip on tune at the SWBB, I don’t suppose anyone saw it or picked it up..?

Just gets tricky up at the dusty end as intonation is much harder.
This ^ for some reason I tend to write bass lines ‘up the dusty end’ on fretless, I just like the tone up there, but intonation is harder but then again that will make you a better player.

Check out some Mick Karn, definitely my main fretless inspiration.
