  2. Ironically I raffled all my guitar stands at Bass Bashes!
  3. The title of my forthcoming autobiography, there.
  4. Actually, what was I thinking? This is a Bash and, of course, one needs to bring everything, and by that I mean... ...alright that's everyone but you get my gist. Today I'm going to set up the entire rig and then pack everything as I break it down so I don't forget anything! I have a Peterson clip-on strobe tuner, a music stand and possibly a few other odds and sods for the raffle.
  5. Actually I have a few QSC questions so it'll probably be good to compare notes.
  6. Just checking if anyone specifically wants to see/hear the QSC or Grace Design Alix? Only because the Boss Waza-Air Bass is so good I'm seriously considering just bring that with the basses.
  7. Received the Waza-Air Bass this morning. I charged them and have been playing for the last hour or so, absolutely amazing. Great practice tool, I can't believe how liberating it is simply having no leads. I was just practicing via the app playing along with my band's songs. I am quite tempted to just take the Waza and my basses to the Midlands Bass Bash at the weekend. Someone mentioned earlier on this thread (I think) how they'd be brilliant to take when you were selling a bass at a meeting say at a motorway services, they have so many applications and uses. Really superb bit of kit.
  8. @Mottlefeeder update, glad you can make it! @Richard R: Brawley 4 and 5 string, EBS session 60 amp, cheap Aeon sustainer, scales to weigh basses with, cake, orange smarties, Westfield "Small Body" bass *FOR SALE* @petecarlton: Shuker Nuclear Device Jean-Jacques Burnel Signature Lite P-bass, Mayones Cali 4 Triskelion travel bass, Bugera Veryron BV 1001M Mosfet head, Ashdown Studio 210 combo, bits and pieces - and cake @Machines: Dingwall D-Roc 5, MTD Kingston Super 5, Yamaha BBG4 (will be for sale at a cheeky price), Warwick Gnome 280w, Ashdown RM210, Zoom B2 Four @Andyjr1515: SWAAPATWTBWADS Bubinga Fretless, probably Pete's Swift lightweight piccolo build and maybe also his (not lightweight) EB-3 tribute @Frank Blank: Jabba short scale fretted and fretless, Ibanez SRC6, Grace Design Alix, QSC K12.2, Boss Waza-Air Bass. @NickA: couple of Wals and a Dolphin. 9. That's gorgeous. If I ever get to play in a rock band again (I currently play in an acoustic duo) a Bongo in that finish would be my first choice. Pukka.
  10. I just bought a Boss Waza-Air Bass just so I can continue noodling during the Amps Off time.
  11. I didn't think (from previous comments) that it came with a case and (also from previous comments) thought the original case was a bit pants. Why are you thinking of selling yours?
  12. You are absolutely right @BigRedX but I will say that the Kingman, particularly if you leave the bright bronze strings on, is loud enough to accompany a loudly strummed guitar/singer. You have to dig in though. For every other acoustic bass I've used or heard your last sentence applies. ๐Ÿ‘†This
  13. Just ordered the Waza-Air Bass from Scan along with @Bunion's excellent case recommendation from Amazon.
  14. Do you prefer bungalow bronzes or car park chromes?
  15. Yeah, all those gnarly chains and whatnot, S&M rash down the back of the bass.
  16. Are you attending @Stub Mandrel or do you have a gig?
  17. I used my acoustic basses, acoustically, at home for practice. Obviously, in a band setting, they have to be amplified. I play in an acoustic duo and the Kingman holds its own against a belting singer/acoustic guitar player. I disagree that they are a waste of time and money but they are certainly niche, and, realistically, that niche is in a living room or bedroom for noodling. You can use them amplified in a band situation if you like but you soon get tired of the bulk and realise that 90% of what you are doing could be happily played on a precision with flats. Like @TheGreek says, semi-acoustic basses are a good way to go. I've been playing in an acoustic duo since 2004 and began with a Takamine shaped much like the Kingman but soon tired of the bulk. Now I play semi-acoustic basses. Of the traditional shaped acoustic basses my favourite, by far, was the Taylor GS Mini Bass. Although the very short scale isn't for everyone it's more fun to play than smoking crack.
