I'd be walking if it were me. I'd like to be consulted about the rescheduling of the date, consulted about keyboard player stepping in, consulted about where my money was ending up. I would also like to know why so many decisions were being made without my input. Actually, thinking about it, I'm with @dlloyd... ...and @Hobbayne for that matter...

And beware pickpockets on the Metro, unbelievably skillful thieves, invariably quite young but usually backed up by muscle should you decide to retaliate. I caught one with his hand in my bag soI grabbed him by one finger and attempted to snap it off his hand at which point a huge dude interjected, not before I made the f****r holler though.

I have very little technical knowledge about how to get a particular tone from amps and I’ve just twiddled about with whatever amp and bass I’ve had and never really got a tone I was really happy with, until now. i never plug in any instrument I’m going to buy, electric or acoustic, I always judge it by how the instrument sounds unaided by amplification, it’s half stupidity, half Luddite tendencies, but this approach has led me down a road of dissatisfaction until I reached an AER amp with a Rob Allen Mouse 30 plugged into it. This combination has everything I want from a bass sound. I have all the tone controls on the AER at 12 O’clock and the RA Mouse only has a volume pot (it has a ‘passive high trim’ control in the back plate but I haven’t adjusted it since I got it as it sounds just right) so all the tone control really comes from my fingers. I always rolled my eyes at the ‘tone is in the fingertips’ camp but I have to say, suddenly, having discovered my perfect bass and amp I now understand and completely agree with the statement. What I assumed was the search for the perfect bass sound for me turned out to actually be the search for the perfect bass, the sound i was lookin for is a blend of this instrument and my way of playing it.

There were two pieces of graffiti in my old home town one on a car park sign that just said Slag Bonce and another piece of random writing on a wall that just said President You Slags. Slag Bonce Car Park President You Slags ...I will be in band with one of those names one day. -
I shall do some this evening.

...unless I get there first!

I know it isn’t a band name but I still think Ten Benson’s album Satan Kidney Pie is possibly the best album name ever. -
Oh sorry dude! You know @sdbass is selling one?

First bass amp I ever played through, it was quiet by today’s standards. Perhaps you could update the innards and keep thatvintage look?

Cheers, like you say, genuinely different. Clearly Mrs Ez has impeccable taste.

I totally owe you, great tip off and a game changer bass for me, thank you so much.

It is a four string and, as you say, just like a strung tree. It is quiet unplugged but glorious enough that I bought it. I was offered to try it through an amp but I always buy instruments on their acoustic tone, in my experience if they sound good unplugged they will sound good amplified. It is loud enough to practice with solo but even alongside an acoustic guitar it needs plugging in.

Well technically it’s NTMBASHBD (New To Me But Actually Second Hand Bass Day). Alright, this was Wednesday but as close as damn it. I posted a while back asking for recommendations for a short scale lined fretless bass, @ikay was kind enough to point out that two fretless Rob Allen Mouse (should this be mice) basses were for sale on here. I feel very lucky to have purchased one of these from the scholar and gentleman @WishIcouldplay. Anyway, I had never tried an RA Mouse before, never seen one or heard one (apart from online, obv.) but I love the look of them from pics so With a pocket full of wonga I headed off to try it out. Just seeing it on its stand was enough, what a beautiful thing. I tried it as in slid one note up a tone on the G and I was in love. I dropped in on my musical collaborator on the way home and played our latest song using it, glorious. Yesterday I got home from work about 6 and went straight to the study, plugged it in and started noodling, when I looked up again I was surprised to see it was dark, a look at the clock, 10:44! I have never owned a hand made instrument before, what a thing, it’s like playing a work of art, bass lines and tunes are falling out of it, I am actually smitten... ...now I need a fretted one.
