  1. Just watching Nina Simone: Live at Montreux 1976 on BBC2 right now, she is completely electrifying. Actual utter primal genius.
  2. Just booked my hotel for the evening before so I'll be able to help set up on the morning of the Bash, marvellous!
  3. Yes, yes you do, otherwise I'll be turning up with an effin' banjo 😉
  4. Make it a round £15, no one wants to piddle about with coins, everyone knows it's still massive value for money and some of us suffer from triskaidekaphobia* * alright, I just wanted to write triskaidekaphobia
  5. The teenagers who work there are grumpy but understandably so, being teenagers and whatnot, but the bloke who owns it is just plain rude. I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first couple of times and then just stopped going in there if he was present. He has a great shop, one of the few places you can try out his superb stock, if I were him I'd be treating my customers like royalty, especially as many of them travel a significant distance. There always have been issues with the website but, by far, the big problem is his stinking attitude. Twice now I've walked in there with 1k in my pocket ready to buy something I knew was in stock, both times I've left with my money and simply ordered online. He needs to sit at home while someone with actual customer facing skills runs the shop for him.
  6. I am looking for quality bags like this that will fit a 32" scale bass.
  7. A review of the bag would excellent once it arrives, he said selfishly, as I've been looking at them 😀
  8. I hope she'd numbed the area beforehand with a nidl?
  9. Lovely to see a visit from Dad's rarely seen Hackles Cruiser. *applauds*
  10. An easy mistake to make. The second album from Follow The Ostrich, An Unexpected Surfeit of Homosexuals is often mistaken for A Glut of Woofs, the ninth album from Swedish Death Metal Trio, Alooominum.
  11. We are having a nice restrained conversation about the Terminator franchise, self-repairing American trucks, enigmatic band names, the early works of Kraftwerk, American avant-garde collective The Residents, cheesecake, Wantage, your first pint, the Istanbul / Constantinople dichotomy, pronunciation, bacon cookery and WW1.
  12. I tried it once. I came out in a nasty rash and had to have a lie down.
  13. Another year not attending your own Bass Bash Mike? It just won't do.
  14. Lucky you, can't remember a thing about mine, mind you, it was a pint of Crème de menthe.
  15. Oar in the dispute Top hats on top of eyes Brixton is in Wantage Steak and kidney pies Thnkyvrymch
  16. Uninterestingly, Lemonsole, Blake & Farmer were originally called Follow The Ostrich and unfortunately their first album of bland psychedelia was called the same. Bonus Fun Fact... Wantage is in Oxfordshire.
  17. I agree with the very sensible comments above, I used to think about upgrades before even buying sometimes, but invariably left them as is. With Fenders I've only ever had to stop hums or noise, none of them ever needed anything replacing. Get the bass and play it for a good while, then, as @Crawford13 says if you like it then think about any deficiencies, if you don't like it, sell it on unmodified. Important to remember modified basses have a lesser resale value and are more difficult to sell.
  18. Just sold Darren an ACG. Great comms, swift payment, lovely cuppa, deal with confidence.
  19. It's 00:16 and I've just read this entire thread from start to finish twice and, guess what? I'm going to read it again.
  20. The fretted spalted Jabba bass I bought (to tide me over until I have these two beauts) has fully converted me. As I've said before countless times I was (or so I thought) perfectly happy with the Rob Allen until I played @wrinkleygit's Jabba Fretless, I couldn't believe anything could top it but the Jabba bass was better and clearly so. The fingerboard and necks are divine, as is the rest of the bass. Despite having asked specifically for thumb rests, I've found the design kind of makes you play over the bottom of the fingerboard which sounds lush.
  21. Are you both talking about the Harlot I bought from @TheGreek?
  22. ...and from the above it looks like it's the best decision I ever made!
