  1. A glass of Ribena and a mouthful of sherbert pips more like.
  2. Digging GoGo Penguin at the moment, not D&B but there is a hint of it in there...
  3. An absolute classic and one that certainly was an in for me...
  4. Try some Photek, particularly the first two albums... Modus Operandi (1997) Form & Function (1998) I'm not sure there is anything to 'get' about any music, you either like it or you don't. I avoided Jazz for years because I thought I didn't 'get' it, or 'understand' it until I found myself just digging Duke Ellington. Personally I like some D&B because the grooves are huge. Come to think of it the reason I like some D&B is very similar to why I like some very heavy bands that just ride riffs, I'm thinking of Helmet here, they get into a really good riff and just groove. It's simple and quite pure, no guff.
  5. ***SOLD*** For Sale HX Stomp £300 See Line 6 product page here. Purchased this from ace Basschater and our very own supernatural Egyptian deity @Osiris on October 23rd 2021. Got it home, updated it to the latest software version and then put it on a shelf where it's been ever since. I play straight into a QSC and the clean sound is just fine. No idea why I bought it really, it's my second Stomp, the first went unused too, I suppose I thought I'd use it but was wrong... twice. You can see how unused it is, it's still got the screen protector on. Velcro on the bottom, no case, includes PSU and USB. *COLLECTION or PERSONAL DELIVERY PREFERRED BUT WILL POST* You can pick up from Southend or meet between our locations or I'm happy to deliver to you (within reason, try me) or add a tenner to the price (£310) and I'll post next day delivery. Happy to answer any questions.
  6. I have never listened to post-Gabriel Genesis, not for any real reason, I just didn't then and don't now. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is my favourite album. Once Gabriel left I suppose it was A Trick of the Tail or Peter Gabriel 1, why I didn't try both I don't know? The stupidity of youth I suppose. I kicked all my prog music into touch for years after deciding punk and new wave was 'my' music, it was lovely to get off my high horse and reconnect with bands from before 1976-77 years later. I'm waffling, sorry.
  7. Agreed, none of the unadulterated joy of The Who smashing up their gear or the daft chaos of The Damned doing similar, it just looks like petulant toss-pottery* from here. * not an obscure form of Dutch ceramic manufacture
  8. Monkeys Bout Postrafees My new free jazz outfit, there.
  9. Bruce here teaches classical philosophy, Bruce there teaches Haegelian philosophy, and Bruce here teaches logical positivism, and is also in charge of the sheep dip.
  10. I agree entirely, even though (imho) it is their best track by a country mile.
  11. I received a bass from Andersons that was advertised as new that arrived scratched and damaged, I posted about it immediately. How the shop deals with the issue is one thing but the items leaving the shop in a state that is clearly not as advertised is another entirely. I think there is a trend of trying to fob people off with damaged gear and then offer a poor discount or similar (I was offered no discount whatsoever just a free lead!) in the hope that the customer won't want to go through the hassle of returning. The guy I spoke to at Andertons just reeled off his apology and paltry offer like he'd done it may times. I sent mine back and, oddly, PMT had a pristine version of the same bass in their warehouse £30 cheaper which arrived two days later in mint nick. Personally I think the initial sending out of damaged gear is a deliberate attempt to fob people off with seconds and is a separate (at least initially) issue from how it is subsequently dealt with.
  12. Agreed. In the brief spells that I've owned a couple of Sandbergs I have had excellent and speedy responses to any questions... 👍
  13. Don't put a spider plant on that one!
  14. Four groat = one furlong, unless, of course, you are outside church boundaries in which case three groat = an imperial fathom. See me afterwards @tauzero.
  15. That, Sir, looks like a vital piece of equipment from a 60s nuclear power station. Personally I love it, regardless of what it sounds like. I like your style. If I were gigging it I'd have a spider plant atop it for some reason, something about spider plants on top of things just says John Steed to me, looks a bit old but still has the class moves. Sorry, I'm a bit piśśed.
