  1. It depends on the bass and on you, you have to try a few out before you'll find one that kind of 'suits' you. Once I found my 'brand' so to speak I adjusted very quickly, well, instantly really. Neck dive isn't inevitable, only one of the eight or so short scales I've played had neck dive, mind you, they have all had lightweight tuners. If you are moving from a P bass then I completely agree with @Lozz196, Mustangs are the way to go. I also had a JMJ and it was glorious, I never noticed any neck dive but, again like Lozz, I have straps that provide good support.
  2. Ages ago I downloaded a shedload of reggae and dub, as recommended by a motley selection of vagabonds and reprobates, I mean like half an iPod's worth. I had little knowledge of the wider world of this music other than the bands I listened to in my punk youth, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Dillinger, Steel Pulse, Bob Marley. So, gradually, as I have it on random most of the time, various tracks come on, some of which I like (which I post on here), some not (which I don't), I am running out of artists I like! Anyway, here we are on Pg. 149 of one of the best threads on BC (cheers @Reggaebass) and it really is time to use it as a resource to get more reggae and dub to fill up the other half of the iPod.
  3. I think the clue is in the opening line... I picked up a couple of these Jazz basses locally He's got two. Edit: This post was brought to you by the word Irony and the number 2.
  4. A similar rumour (If @Frank Blank did not attend last year's Bash, the 08:17 53 - Oxford Bus Station (Gloucester Road) to Bicester bus would be 5 minutes late) was doing the rounds last year. I didn't attend the Bash and yet the aforementioned bus was on time. I think the world is safe. Mind you, from Oct. 42nd onwards is anyone's guess. In summary, Nostradamocles, or whatever his name was, can do one.
  5. I agree with @warwickhunt. The Fishman Platinum Pro is a lovely bit of kit. Obviously if you have a bigger budget I would suggest any of the Grace Designs options, well, the Alix or Felix. They will last you forever and there's nothing better imho.
  6. He does give good hair.
  7. He really is a top man. I shared the bill with Dub War a couple of times and on both occasions Benji wore one of our beanies, well chuffed.
  8. I use an Aclam Smart Track board.
  9. Classics like that are to be savoured.
  10. Great band, great cover. Cake. Great...
  11. I could just drink some punch, pass out and leave a week later?
  12. Right. I am definitely attending this one, hopefully, unlike 2 years ago, I won't have to leave after 30 minutes rather than punching someone!
  13. Drum & Bass ...although Red Snapper or more Acid Jazz really but who cares?
  14. For me too. The only thing in forty years that got me that was an FRFR speaker, which is why I stopped using a trad amp/cab rig from that day onward.
  15. La Bella flats a) how do I buy it? b) how do I buy it? c) see a) and b)
