  1. Oooh, nearly had a wobble. Ive just been watching @Dood's Spector review. Had i seen the cost first i wouldn't have bothered. Not a cheap bass. Very nice though, but GAS gone.
  2. With a band i used to dep for, the (very good) drummer used to set up at the gig (always weddings) and play like he had never played before. Very badly and out of time. He used to do this to wind the venue or wedding planners up. I saw a lot of horror on their faces over the years, My current band's drummer does the same.....only its not a wind up 😞
  3. Yep, had it since before christmas. Luckily this one can be control with flu capsules 🙂 Tonight is the first outing (rehearsal) with my 'new' cab. I'm hoping all my GAS will disappear. .
  4. Well other than Rick and The Stereophonics I'm wasnt aware of any of the other acts. Ok, I knew who Stormzy was but have no idea what he sings. So far me it was new music. I still cant name anyone else on that show even after watching it. Yes its a crap show, with a crap host, but personally i can get past that if the music is good. So i always watch Jools, even though i think its a crap show. Ive discovered a few new to me bands from the show, but on the whole ive seen a pile of crap that unfortunately i cant remember their names, so bound to watch them again and moan about them again.
  5. So tell me, how can you know you dont like a set of acts you may never have heard of before, on a show that is going out live (ok, i know its not, but its the same thing) unless you see them? I get the whole 'don't liek it, don't watch it' thing, but unless you travel in time you have to watch it to like or not like it. With a show like this you cant predict you wont like it unless you know all the artists. I'm sure most of us tune in to hear new music, and many come away disappointed. It's not like a repeat or a soap opera where you know you don’t like it so don’t watch it. I put it on to be entertained. I liked the Stereophonics, then it went down hill from there. Had I known what all the acts were about I'd have turned it off right there, but i didn't know what to expect. I wanted to see more of the Stereophonics, so had to keep it on anyway.
  6. I think with me it’s nerves. I don’t drive so I go with my singer, luckily we live together and she is my GF. She is a bit of a lose cannon when it comes to punctuality and quite often we arrive at places late. That’s not me at all, but until we get to the gig I worry, because this part is out of my control. So for me getting to the gig is the nerve wracking part, and I worry about it from the moment I wake up.
  7. No problem. I have both and always use my Stomp at home with headphones, as it’s the most versatile for this sort of thing (although the FX works fine with headphones as well), but live I prefer the FX as I like how well it’s laid out, and also use it to control the channel switching on my Amp. I’ve been using a BDDI for years in front of my amps, which I tend to run pretty flat anyway, so for me I still have the same preamp that i used to, plus all the other effects if I need them. I tried briefly to use amp and cab modelling with my rig, but it seemed pointless as I was going through a rig anyway.
  8. Not in the Helix Effects they aren’t, which is what I was talking about. I have done what you do with my Stomp though.
  9. As much as i like gigging, for me the worst part is the hours before leaving, and the journey to the gig. After that I'm fine. I just seem to be in limbo on a Sat afternoon. Plenty of time to do whatever i want, but I cant get motivated. These days we don’t do many gigs, which suits us all. I could never go back to every weekend again.
  10. Ah. That's good. I posted last year i was going to get a new bass, and i have the cash ready for it, thats pre arranged right ? 😎
  11. Had a weird one last night. Was playing through my Stomp, and noticed i wasnt getting any effected sound, it was just a bypassed tone. All the lights were coming on and off as expected, I could go in to bypass and out, but with no tone change. Changed patches, same result with all of them. I re booted the Stomp and all was back to normal. Anyone ever had this before? I'm not worried about it yet, Its probably just a glitch, but if it happens again i might be.
  12. When my old band spilt up for a few months i loved having my Saturdays back. Letting the mornings/afternoons/evening all blend to get her without having to look at my watch or inboxing i had to be home for a certain time was a lovey, new feeling for me. On gig days i hate sitting around, but cant seem to get motivated to do anything else.
  13. Didn’t notice what was on the floor.
  14. I almost did that once. I got to the gig and opened the gig bag, only to find an old bass that I had put in my usual gig bag a few days earlier. Problem was it wasn’t wired up as I had taken the pups out to use in another bass, and put that basses pups in place in this bass, and just left it. I had to wire the bass up using gaffa tape at the gig.
  15. Me and the singer live bang in the middle of central London, right by Blackfriars bridge which gets locked down because of the fireworks, and it’s very, very difficult getting a car back to ours on NYE before 3am. We decided we won’t do any NYE gigs anymore. We ended up watching the fireworks from the kitchen window and then watching Zombieland 2. Couldn’t take any more ‘musical’ nonsense from the TV.
  16. Dire, just dire. Those 3 birds with colourful suits made me want to jump out of my window (mainly because none of us could find the remote to mute them).
  17. Richard Jone playing a lovely P34 in sunburst on Jools tonight. Looks great under stage lighting and makes my dark blue P34 look boring lol.
  18. I mean the Darkglass and BDDI sims. Both are technically bass preamps. Not sure if the Ampeg Screamer counts.
  19. There are at least a couple of well loved preamps in it so i dont miss the amp/cab sims at all. Plus you can load IR's so that sort of covers the cab part.
  20. Got one last purchase in this year. Ive just ordered another set of EB Cobalt Flats. I fancy giving them another go. Hoping there are no rust spots on the strings like my last set.
  21. Must admit i want to gig my BB425, but feel guilty about leaving the P34 at home, so i take the P34. This is why i voted my P34 as my worst purchase of the year in the other thread. Not that its anything less than fantastic, but i really shouldn't have brought it as i already had basses that were more than fine, and now i dont use them.
  22. There's your answer right that 😁
  23. My P34 weighs 9.8lbs. Lighter than that Sire V7 which weighs 10.2lb, my heaviest bass.
