  1. Not sure if this was posted before, but ive only just come across it.
  2. I guess you would also need to compare new for new. After all, a bass that's a a few years old will already be nicely settled in.
  3. Cool. Well worth it though, ive been using the HD 25-II's for years.
  4. Difficult to say. I guess the closest to the P34/5 is the 734/5. Pretty close in most respects but they have different finishes, and I'm guessing that would contribute to the tone on each bass.
  5. Only the high end Yamahas, the Japanese ones i think, definitely not the low end, but i would imagine after a couple of dozen gigs any bass will be in the same zone. From the Yamaha website Any bass benefits from being "played in," a process in which the instrument matures and opens up as the stresses between the wood and finish, neck and fingerboard, and body and hardware are released, resulting in better sound and playability. Yamaha’s exclusive Initial Response Acceleration (IRA) technology releases those stresses by applying specific vibrations to the completed instruments as part of the crafting process and gives a "played in" bass from day one
  6. IRA is sort of like road worn wood. Not the finish, but the wood itself. It's been treated so its settled already. I personally think its a gimmick, although i can see the logic behind it. I'd rather pay less and not have it. After all, you cant tell what its doing as there are no direct with or without models.
  7. Are you sure the Sennheiser HD 25-1's are in budget? £40 could probably get you used but these sell for around £100.
  8. I would have voted those two as well, but i find my Helix Effects to be more to my liking for live use.
  9. Haha, you on a recruitment drive for Bass Chat 😎
  10. The Ibby is very high on my list, but ill need to play an 18mm one first. I'm sure I can adapt to 16.5mm, but I want to explore a few options first.
  11. Ok, lets keep this short so as to not derail the thread. I dont have the Fearless F112 anymore, i have a Berg CN212. I'm sure you can work the rest out 😉
  12. My uneducated guess would be a 1024, as the bridge looks more substantial.
  13. I'm out. I plan on getting a 5 sting Ibby asap but need to sell my P34 first. This won't happen before Wed so there we are, the first casualty of the year lol.
  14. Just came across this video. The effect actually sounds pretty good with headphones on. Wonder how it sounds with bass.
  15. Haha, indeed you might be right. Won’t know until the 2nd jan though. Feeling positive though, and going to the gym first 😂
  16. Saying all that, if things change then this fantastic info will be a boon.
  17. Well I struggle get this type of earphone to stay in my ears. Ive gone through about 6 different earphones this year for the gym, and really, really struggled to find a pair that would stay in. In the end only the Apple Airpods/pro would work for me. I tried the ones that came with her system (only a cheap G4M system), and also the KTZ's i got her to replace the stock one;s, and they literally just fall out when i let go. I know i can get custom moulded ones, but really, should i need to go to that expense when i really don't want to use IEM's in the first place. I know the songs, probably more than she does, its just that i need to hear her cues every now and then. I also dont want the hassle of having to mic/DI everything up at gigs. It's bad enough most of the band turn up late and we don’t even get to sound check, this is one more thing I'd have to figure out. Neither i, nor the guitarist have any plans on giving up using loud backline. Our backline provides the room sound. We only have a vocal PA so that cant carry a full band like a proper backline can. Now I realise all the above can be sorted, but at cost, and thats not a practical answer. The singer just wants to her herself a bit clearer when she moves away from her monitor. In no way am I against IEM's, I think they are a great idea, its just not a great idea for my band. I can hear everyone clearly, i know how the songs go so good monitoring is not needed, we only play on small stages so everyone can hear everyone else fine as we are. Sorry, i know that's a long negative post and I didnt want to make it in this thread, but at the present time its just the singer, and maybe the drummer (who does the only backing vocals) that are going to use them to hear themselves a bit better.
  18. Wow, good work. Ive just brought my singer/GF some IEM's, mainly because she asked for them. The above is really good Info. My only concern though, is if she decides to stop bringing a monitor then the rest of the band will need IEM's as well, otherwise we wont hear her. That's not a route I personally want to go down.
