  1. No, i was replying to the post that quoted my post about drummer turning up and saying he hadn't had time. probably worth reading my post to get this in context.
  2. Yep, i have one of those. Very good player, but up his donkey a bit when it comes to knowing the songs. Always sounds like he busk's them. Doesn't listen for stops etc (drummer plays right through most stops in our song list). Caught him out at the last one. We do Ever fallen in love, the Stiff Dylans version. He keeps mucking it up. Say's he is so used to playing the original. I replied 'but you have been playing this version for 13 months, and dont play much with anyone one else'. Total BS for not putting the time in. He also insists i play the one of the Beatles songs in a cretin (wrong way), to suit his solo. I do like going through YT and seeing how others adapt songs, and take inspiration from those versions, so im not precious at all about how we play them, but when its chaotic its like 'why bother being in a band'.
  3. Same, but, im not really good enough to nail most of the songs, so i dumb them down to my ability. Also as my drummer cant get anywhere near the original groove/rhythm/timing etc, playing he bass line spot on is never an option anyway.
  4. Couldn't agree more, it is making it hard to enjoy the band, but its my band so why wouldn't the first step be to get rid of him?
  5. must admit when we dumped our last drummer we got the new one to start booking rehearsals under his name so we couldn't be tracked down. Old drummer was a dangerous man. During today ive since found out our guitarsist has booked himself as not available for a lot of the spring and summer weekends. partly because of the football, and the rest he is just going away with his wife etc I will not pull my punches when he gets the chop.
  6. Yep, its like a kick in the balls to those that made the effort. I spend at least 2 hours a night playing bass. Not always for the band, but im no top of it all. I get to rehearsal and spend a good portion of it listening to spotify while some of the others work out where bits go. I get we all work, but when you join a band you are making a commitment. its really that simple. You weigh up your ability to make the effort, and if you cant, walk away. Leaving a band is not as easy as those knee jerk phrases make it seem. I see this said a lot, but if you had an idea of how much work someone put in to a band walking away is not an easy option. Wouldn't it make sense to sack the one person causing the issue rather becoming bandless, letting the others down and possibly gig agents?
  7. I'm going through the same thing with my band. Drummer never practices (i mean never), so rehearsals and gigs are the only time he plays. Always turns up with 'not had a chance to go over the songs, been manic at work'. Great way to start a rehearsal. We get on really well, and have a good laugh, but its eating in to me and im losing interest in the band, which is affecting my playing. He is definitely the weakest link, by far, and has cost us gigs in the past. Just cant bring myself to sack him, but when i do i dont feel i can pull any punches as its built up for too long. Nip it in the bud now.
  8. As above. Love the P neck on ym P bass but prefer jazz necks. Looked in the usual places but cant find this specific neck. Im not looking for alternatives etc, and needs to be ready to fit (dont mind buying the tuners though).
  9. Life's too short to waste time. if he isnt cutting it you have to sort it out asap, before band morale drops and you're in danger of losing other members.
  10. I posted in another thread about my experiences with Dingwall's. Very easy to play until you get higher up. I tried playing the middle bit in Alright now on my mates ABZ5 and struggled so much to get those high notes i gave up. It all gets a bit 'trippy' at the dusty end.
  11. Wow, very retro looking. I love Roland's drum machines. So easy to use.
  12. Sorry, i just don’t have any packaging and it cant be folded.
  13. Yeah, its was a crappy gig, but it was great getting up there without paying, and the guests were cool. I really cant remember the playing bit, other than one of the waitresses kept turning one of the PA speakers around because it was too loud for her each time she walked past it. She kept turning it so it faced the singer, causing feedback every time. Guess it wasn’t only the band having a crappy night lol. Looks good on the CV though.
  14. Haha, yeah, its not got the appeal it used to have. Fell asleep during tonight’s one. Cant be bothered to see what happened.
  15. Just found this. didnt know i had it. Worse part of the gig was having to walk the gear on to the bridge, and then fight with the caterers etc to get gear up in a lift that you cant call with a button, but have to phone someone to bring it down to ready level.
  16. None of us, but this was the ‘room’. This was taken from were i was standing.
  17. It does make me feel like its worthwhile when i see people dancing, after all i know we are there to entertain, and if we arent doing that, i feel we are doing something wrong, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. I do make sure I’m on point as much as possible, so no blame can go my way.
  18. We once played in one of the high walkways over Tower bridge. It was so cramped we had to pile all the amps on top of each other in front of the drummer, and put the desk on the floor behind him. This was to allow the catering staff to get past us and take the food down to the other end of the bridge, where all the guests were. There was also a DJ there, who set up in front of us. The most pointless gig ive ever done, and the worst for getting in and out, as you cant park on the bridge. The guitarist stood on the other side of the walkway. He looked like he wasn’t part of the band.
  19. Before for me as well, but bare in mind a lot of heads have comps in, ands these will be at the end of the chain, so its really what works and what you want it to do, and what’s in the chain before it. Ive found either to work, but in different ways.
  20. Same, plus i get money at the end of the night.
  21. Price dropped to £90 collected. For sale is my 3 month old Mono Stealth in black. Lovely gig bag, and very easy to wear (best ive ever had). I got this new last Nov when i started gigging, but I’m struggling to store it at home. Ive also started to use my old Gator bag more, as it has a much larger front pocket. Looking fro £90, collected as i dont want to post it. https://www.andertons.co.uk/mono-stealth-electric-bass-guitar-case-black
  22. I did finally get to play my mates one last month. Neither of us thought much of it and he sent it back and got a Little Marcus. It just seemed to lack life and tone, at least compared to the head he had before and the one he has now.
  23. And sold. I had that at first, but it stopped my TC Electronics pedals and head getting a tone print when i was beaming from my phone. Got it swapped for the L version and all was good. I guess its the better of the two, but the full freq isnt always a plus, especially with headphones.
  24. As much as I love this system I’m finding it too bright for headphone practice. I play with a pick and the open top end is just a bit annoying. Planning on going back to the non L version. I got this last year and have gigged a few times with it and never had any issues. I rehearse almost every week with it as well it’s very reliable, although as with all of these devices you can get drop outs. Had a few drop outs over the months at rehearsals, but less than I have with my Xvive 2 system. This system has less noise than the Xvive, and a cleaner tone when playing very softly thought it. My Xvive’s add some low level digital noise. Based in central london, Holborn during the day, Southbank/Waterloo in the evenings. Happy to post (I still have the box and packaging) for an extra £5, UK mainland only. https://www.boss.info/uk/products/wl-20_wl-20l/
  25. One of the first albums I owned.
