Nice to see the word 'Christmas' being used. I'm fed up with getting 'happy holidays' said to me.
-
Dont blame you. I also remember the toilets having a step up in to the room. Quite amusing watching people trip up it lol.

Indeed, and even if they could move, they were packed in so tight there was nowhere to move to. Our guitarist would just barge through them. Lucky we never had a situation.

What phone are you using? If one of the newer iPhones make sure you use the earpiece and not the speakers at the bottom. This caught me out when i got my first TP pedal and had an 8plus. I also had issues using a Boss WL-20 as it has a cable tone feature that cuts the top end and stops it working. Appreciate this isnt the case here, just thought I'd mention it.

Is that the place thats in the corner of a town square? The name rings a bell and its the only one i can remember having to go upstairs to. Luckily the first time we played it we had just got our new powered PA speakers so getting in and out wasnt as bad as if we had still been using the old Peavy's. But yes, parking was just silly.

We used to play The Brahms and Liszt in Covent Garden. While technically not a hard get in, just down some stair in to the basement, there was no other entrance, so we would have to get all the gear and through through a packed crowd. Not so bad getting in, but at 1am when th place was heaving and drunk, it was a nightmare. I used to hate doing that gig.

Maybe you just need a better cab that doesn't muddy at those very low freq's😏
-
Ah, the good old days eh 🤣
-
Bloody hell!!!!. We used to have a Turbosound PA rig, and although the cabs were only 1x15's and 1x12's the amps weighed a ton. Many times i felt like just letting go on the way out.
-
Makes me glad ive always had small cabs. I cant imagine carrying something like a 8x10 down some of these staircases.

Dicey O Reillys in Neasden was like this. Covered in beer at the end of the night, not much lighting and treacherous in winter when it iced up.

Worst for me has to be the high walkway over Tower bridge. Not only can you not park on the bridge, therefore have to wheel or carry all the gear from the south side, you have to use the service lift which doesn't have a button, you have to phone someone to come down. When we played it it was a free for all with the caterers and DJ etc.

Same for me, at least for the Tee shirt. The logo is a bit 3D looking on me now lol. Almost worn out my polos though.

Ive been playing that 425 this afternoon, and string for string it out 'growls' the P34, both with the same strings on them, both on the neck pup.

Nice one Paul. Were the old ones easy to get off? -
From what ive read over the years quite a lot of MB owners put something before the heads. Mate got his from Bass Direct yesterday.

Haha, who knows, maybe Santa does exist.....

I have the Behringer one, only £14 on Amazon. Must admit after testing every cable I could find I've not used it again. Handy to keep in the gig bag though. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-6-In-1-CT100-Cable-Tester/dp/B000CCIVCA/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2VV4AT4YSY5FX&keywords=cable+tester+behringer&qid=1577046579&sprefix=cable+tester+%2Caps%2C154&sr=8-1

My mates just brought one of these (the non D2). I should get to play it through my F112 over Christmas. Only at house volume though. I like that the EQ points are higher than the old style MB heads. I used MB for years, and I'd say 95% of the time with a BDDI in front (and some others like VTBass and DG stuff). I always found MB stuff to be ok but a bit like SpagBol without Parmesan on top. Clean and nice but needed spicing up.I now only have a F1 which is not being used but its been my fav MB head.

Could be too much low end swapping the definition. I agree it could be fixed with EQ, but if the 1025 is anything like my 425 its a very powerful Jazz pup which sounds very strong and powerful. For what its worth the 425 i have has no issues with the lower 4 notes coming across clearly. Then again i play with a pick (so not a real bass player lol).

Or a simpler bass https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/electric-bass-guitars/yamaha-bb-series-bb235-natural-satin-electric-bass-guitar

Never come across a 16.5mm 4 string. I know they exist of course, but I'd hardly call them normal.
-
Only thing that might cause issues is the very narrow 16.5mm string spacing. Might be an issue, might not, but be aware its quite a drop from the usual 19-20mm 4 string spacing.

Ive always stuck up for Sire basses. They are very good value and have lovely necks. Quite a few come up for sale on here. Ive got a gen 1 V7 and love it......or at least I did until i got a cheap Yamaha 425 (as has been suggested above). The Yamaha's are really easy to play, and the necks seem almost like a decent sized 4 string rather than a cricket bat. They might look boring and plain (they do to me), but the term 'Decent' can definitely, be used with these basses, even though they don’t have the price tag that makes you feel you have a decent bass. Having played quite a few 5 strings over the years (and always gone back to 4's), my Yamaha 425 is by far the cheapest, and while it doesn't have active electronics/exotic woods/bells and whistles etc, its a very, very decent player and can hold its own with any of my previous basses as far as playability goes. In fact I'd take this over a couple of Dingwall ive borrowed, and a Lakland DJ5 I owned. Not saying the 425 is better all round, but it has character and power, which the Dingwalls I borrowed lacked. That might of course be a downside if you don't like the tone, and the pups on the older low end Yamaha's aren't easy to replace.

No problem. I figured anyone looking at this will at least be happy to see it being used and not just static FB photos etc. Must admit ive not seen the whole video, as I'm not planning on getting one.
