  1. Unless you live close by and have the right parking permits 😉 My GF used to be able to park in a private loading bay in Wardour street when she worked for her old company. Very cool lol.
  2. My case is still in the shipping box and has never been out of it (for those wondering, its a 2 piece box so i took the lid off and opened the case). With the bass costing so munch (I purchased it new) I ended up getting a gig bag that also weighs more than my others, as its much better protected, so that just adds to the hardship of carrying this thing I lol.
  3. My P34 weighs in at 9.8lbs. Manageable to play but more a pain carrying it. When we have rehearsals I rarely put the bass down, so i normally have it on for 2-3 hours. My Mono strap sorts out the weight issue. I notice the weight (over some of my other basses) more when I'm going to and from rehearsals.
  4. We did a gig at One Poultry a few years ago. It's a rooftop restaurant overlooking Mansion house junction. Lovely place to eat and have a party, horrible for a band. As has been said already, parking in central london is a nightmare. The worst part was the get in and out. Very small lift shared by guests and staff, as the kitchen is on the floor below the restaurant so in use most of the time. Get in wasn't too bad as it was a private party so was closed to the public, and we were early. Get out was very stressful. Owning to letting the guests out first we had to wait until they had all left. Then we had to fight (almost literally) with the rude staff who insisted in piling all the tables and chairs in our way, and every time the lift did arrive would fill it with the chairs and tables. They seemed to have a system to keep the band from getting any of our gear in the lift until they were finished. We noticed they would move plies of chairs in to out path, after we had moved them out of the way. Bunch of Richards working there, at least on the night we were there.
  5. Ill be trying out the non D2 next Friday, but my mate has said there is a huge difference between this and his old little mark tube. Louder, fuller sounding and seems to have a more 3D tone to it. I always think making a big deal about gold plated contacts/connections etc is a bit of a gimmick. Yes, they can be more reliable over time, but ive never personally had issue with non gold plated contacts. I would also expect any manufacturer making pro gear to use whatever works and is up to the job anyway.
  6. Nice, and congrats. I had those strings on my P34, but noticed some rust spots from day one so sent them back. During the day or so that i had them I really liked the tone. Will try them again at some point.
  7. This is why I wanted to get a 435. I like the pups in the P34 and realise the 435 will sound similar, but id like to see what else i can get for the 435. I wouldn't want them to sound the same but do fancy a 5 string thats doesnt cost the earth. A more powerful bridge pup would be top of the list.
  8. And nice long thumb rest 😂
  9. This is/was my reason for wanting a 435. Cheap enough to experiment with pups in it. Dont want to mess around with my P34.
  10. Well my P34 sounds like a P bass, but it doesn't sound like a Fender P bass. My 425 sounds like a very hot P bass, but doesn't sound like a P34, or a Fender. No point describing how they differ tone wise as you wont like any of them anyway. Ive never seen a bass with a split P style bass that hasn't sounded like a bass with a split P in it.
  11. Nope, just asking why he said what he said, then we can get an idea of what he is looking for. Is it the tone, the shape, etc. I'm also wondering what price point he thinks they are better made than Fenders. He made a statement, I was just asking that's all. Ive not found my 2 Yamahas to be any better than my Fender.
  12. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing. I asked what was wrong with it.
  13. What's wrong with a Fender Precision, and better made than what Fender range?
  14. My 55-01 was also my first 35'' 5 string bass. Lovely player. I had the pre amp upgraded to a NTMB but never really found the tone i was looking for in that bass. Had it for a few years though and never had any complaints. I remember first coming across them in the Bass centre. Never heard of Lakland before that. I played 7 of them, and all were spot on. Hard choice picking one but I went for the cheapest, most boring option...Black.
  15. Haha, i obviously should have asked a typing course. Then again, yes...yes she does....
  16. I find if i leave it so its too late for her to shop around for me she just goes with the links i send her. Then again she is the singer in my band so is sympathetic to the cause. I got her an IEM system.
  17. Cool. I got a set of those last year. Still not even tuned them up 🙂.
  18. Thought it might be good too see what music related gifts we got today. Ill start. Although i did ask for it I'm very impressed with my Rumble 25 LT that my GF got me. just need to find a time to use it.
  19. I’ve already stumbled upon mine, a Fender 25LT Rumble combo. Got to practice my surprise face as I rip the paper off in the morning.
  20. Nice to see the word 'Christmas' being used. I'm fed up with getting 'happy holidays' said to me.
  21. Dont blame you. I also remember the toilets having a step up in to the room. Quite amusing watching people trip up it lol.
  22. Indeed, and even if they could move, they were packed in so tight there was nowhere to move to. Our guitarist would just barge through them. Lucky we never had a situation.
  23. What phone are you using? If one of the newer iPhones make sure you use the earpiece and not the speakers at the bottom. This caught me out when i got my first TP pedal and had an 8plus. I also had issues using a Boss WL-20 as it has a cable tone feature that cuts the top end and stops it working. Appreciate this isnt the case here, just thought I'd mention it.
  24. Is that the place thats in the corner of a town square? The name rings a bell and its the only one i can remember having to go upstairs to. Luckily the first time we played it we had just got our new powered PA speakers so getting in and out wasnt as bad as if we had still been using the old Peavy's. But yes, parking was just silly.
