Ive only recently 'discovered' this band, and what an amazing bunch of musicians. i must confess to finding JD's playing a bit grating after a while though. Im not criticising him at all, i love his playing, but only in moderation. Very talented player though, makes it seem so easy.

Its going to not be as loud as the BF 2x10......obviously 😂 Looks like a really nice cab though....hmmmm 🤔

Bugger, i knew you would say that. Well I'd need to sell my P34 first, and delete all my posts in the gear abstaining thread lol. I have played one of those fanned fretted Ibby's before, and really liked it, but at th time I wasn't in the market for a 5 string so never really had much interest in it other to compare it to my mates Dingwall. Though tit sounded much nicer than the Dingwall.

Ah, here's the culprit for all these FX purchases lol. Ive not had this, i dont have a pedal, but im guessing its normal. Have you got effects trails turned on? Wonder if that helps.

Dont forget we are going Helix floor next year, start saving 🙂 The Stomp is pretty much everything you could want in a small box, but i just find the FX to be so well thought out for live use that i am really over the moon with it. I feel anything i want to do effects wise i now can, even though i dont want to at the moment. With my old eyes having those scribble strips and all the parameters for any of the effects all laid out across the screens has been a game changer. I just wish the foot switches were a bit further apart.

Ive been using these for years. Ive never noticed them being brighter than other nicks, like Fenders, but im so used to these now that i cant really remember what the others sounded like. I would also say these sound pretty much the same as the Slinky's.

Assuming your running order doesn't changed, and you can remember where each patch is before the next song starts 😁

They have their uses i guess, i just dont need that much control yet. I do prefer to treat the patch as a pedalboard though. I like the idea of turning things on and off as and when, but i do have a few 'hidden' blocks that get activated (or deactivated) when other blocks are used.

Ive still to try using snapshots, but you can assign the foot switches to alter various parameters for a certain block. I have one patch set up with 6 variations on the BDDI, just using one block. Some will also add in EQ from an EQ block. Admittedly this is overkill, but it shows how versatile the system is.

Its a nice upgrade. Also the Stomp has a few things built in to each patch that the Effects doesn't, inc noise gate, and also has a global EQ (inc HPF and LPF), so you can save a few blocks right there.

Standard 'Long' is fine. I use D'addario XL's and they work really well on my basses. I had a set of Ernie Ball Slinky's on my P34 and took them off after a couple of days. Not sure why i didn't like them, but i didn't.

To use an overused (in this thread) phrase, horses for courses. We are in a thread about an amp that can cost well under half of what a lot of high end heads cost, and yet most people here love it. Proof that you dont need to go over the top with spending.

At least.....and even then don't listen to me lol My issue is i don’t gig much, or at least haven't been, and rehearsals aren't too regular. Ill get something but might have to wait a few weeks to try it out with the band. As we know, most, if not everything sounds great at home. Then it depends on the room we rehearse in. These are the only times i get to tinker with things in a band environment. Could be by the time i gig i have realised its not for me (as in the case of the BB800). I went through two heads over the past 12 months that never even made it to gigs. For me being comfortable at gigs with my tone is the top priority. It might not be a great tone by other people's standards, but if I'm constantly thinking i need to adjust this or that, i feel its not the right thing to own. The other night with the Fender was the first time in months i just plugged in, left most of the EQ on the amp at noon and just enjoyed the rehearsal. This to me says i have found the right combination......for now. Potato bass. Thanks of the recommendation, but i cant see me ever spending that sort of money on a box of 'magic dust' 🙂

Must admit my BB425 is one of the highlights of the year. Amazed at the quality and playability at that price. Agree about them punching above their weight, although the low end market has made huge advances over the past few years. I also got a Stomp this year, but the FX tops it for 'best'.
