  1. I get what you are saying. Ive found some of the cabs to be too much when using headphones. The free IR’s I’ve used are even more so unless tamed. For home use, learning songs etc with headphones on I now use the BDDI sim with a Fender bassman IR. seems to get the right balance of tone, punch and clarity.
  2. well if you saw my post a couple of days ago, i was asking the same thing 😉 Saying that, i guess Google will bring up some suggestions (i genuinely dont have any links)
  3. Theres no doubting a PA sounds better with proper subs, but that doesn't mean a band cant sound good without them IME. Logistics also come in to play as adding two subs can make a big difference if space is at a premium in the cars, and ive never had anyone comment about lack of low end on the dance floor.
  4. Id like to have seen Bruce Foxton on that list, but i appreciate they cant list them all.
  5. I thought the Q/strip was too expensive at over £300, and that's basically just an EQ pedal in a standard Tech21 Sansamp box.
  6. My current band don't, and we dont feel the need. our PA 1x15 speakers have a nice low end kick, which helps the bass drum punch through the backline and over the heads of the crowd, but we dont mic anything else other than that and the vocals. I think we would have a better quality of sound/mix if we did use them, but the added expense/weight and space needed are outweighed by the fact that we dont 'need' them as such. My old band used to use just one of those Peavey powered Subs, but again, space constrictions meant it got left at home or often than not. We used it for functions but not the social clubs.
  7. Crazy price, thats the cost of a head. Maybe the street price will be lower.
  8. I love From the Jam. Good to see they are still flying the flag, while Weller gets more and more boring and MOR.
  9. If the foot switches were too close it would be difficult to use in a live setting if you have large feet. At least, that's my experience.
  10. Excluding the Bite, speaker sim and different EQ, its similar to how my COG 66 works, which i really like for its switchable Gain/level stages, but using just one EQ path. Do we know RRP yet?
  11. Yeah, i used the wrong term, but still, i was expecting at least a compressor. Anyway, am i right tin thinking its like a 2 gain/level stage BDDI, but with more EQ options, and instead of being based on a Ampeg its now based on Marshall cabs? Could be quite cool for the Bruce Foxton tone i guess. Still interested.
  12. Im in the same boat. We have a rehearsal booked for Thursday. We have a short list of about 10 songs we want to try. Guitarist has been quite on this front since the list went out (it didnt come from him but he is normally in charge of the lists for rehearsals). Turns out he has just gigged with a band from work, and has now added two songs he had to learn for that gig, to our list for Thursday. Both songs i have never heard of. Ive said not for this week but i know he will be 'jamming' them at every opportunity. Drummer will join in and me and the singer will just stand there waiting our money tick away.
  13. Not sure what to make of this. Not what i was expecting. Seems lacking compared to the other FR boxes. Cant quite figure out the 'blurb' Is it saying the SH went on tour without a rig, but having received this he can now do the gigs lol.
  14. I preferred it over the real thing for a long time. In fact i still prefer the BDI21 over my PBDDI, as that's based on the old version. Cant beat the V2 BDDI though.
  15. With my old band we spent almost a year rehearsing once a week, until we started gigging. Then we stopped rehearsing as we were gigging almost every weekend. With my current band maybe once every two weeks, although have been having 4-6 week gaps due to the guitarists being away etc. Ironically, he said ages ago he thought we were gig ready, the recording of our first gig a few weeks ago says otherwise.Im not a perfectionist, but when the band gets together and someone keeps forgetting what they are supposed to play, or plays it in a sloppy way, i dont count that as 'gig ready'. i guess its all down to each member making the effort way from the studio or gigs. A band is only as good as the person who puts the least amount of effort in.
  16. The Zoom boxes will give you this, and much more There is a B1-Four for sale on here for about £50 IIR.
  17. Haha, i was just typing that maybe a cheap Zoom would be a temporary fix, as it will allow various effects to be tried out. I know they aren't exactly the same but they do seem to have the character of the pedal they are simulating.
  18. At the moment I’m using a Helix Stomp. It offers me quite a few pre amps, along with all the effects I’ll ever need. Ironically I’m using it as a BDDI at the moment, because my BDDIv2 is my all time fav preamp. Ive also got a Q/strip that I never use these days, but it’s been sold and brought back, so I guess that’s a keeper now. I’d say it’s more EQ than preamp, but I have used it direct in to a power amp. Also very happy with my TC Electronics Spectradrive, although again, the Stomp has made that redundant as well.
  19. Yeah, there are loads around, but I’m wondering if the more costly ones, like the Own Hammer IR’s, are worth it over the cheap, or free ones.
  20. At the cheap end I’d add the TC electronics Spark Booster to the list. I find it to produce quite a natural open sort of tone, with a nice drive when pushed. The Joyo line have some good drive pedals as well.
  21. Glad it helped. I felt the stock cable is stupidly short, even at home I find I have it quite taut, just going from under bed where the plug is to on top of the bed. So, IR’s. Ive just got my head around what they are, and how to use them. Any recommendations as to what to get? Ive got a few free ones, mostly based on Ampeg cabs, but I’m wondering if I should just get IR’s based on speakers. Actually I probably still don’t really have a clue about these, other than know where to put them and what they are supposed to be. Ive been looking at these ones, which seem to have a good rep https://www.ownhammer.com/tutorials/general/
  22. I think I posted a while ago that I was finding the length of the PSU lead a bit short. I prefer to have all the power behind me, either on the wall or at the side of my rig. Anyway, I got this today and it works perfectly (so far). I might tape up the join and maybe strengthen the ends, but it’s going to make life a bit easier as I won’t have to run a mains extension lead just for the Stomp. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01A9500XC/ref=pe_3187911_185740111_TE_item
  23. Be prepared for time wasters. I placed an ad for my TCE head last night. It stated i had my eye on something, and pick up from me in central London. Later that evening i had a PM from a guy in Spain telling me he has a PJ head he will trade for my BH800 🙄
