Have you checked the dimensions of a 4 and 6U rack case against the amp? You should get a good idea about what it fits.

Oh yes, it was very impressive. Knocks the socks of the BB2 i had as far as playing at home. Cant comment on a gig situation of course, at least not until i get mine 🙂

I have 3 small heads, the TCE BH800, GK MB800 and Markbass F1. All good heads but none fit in my small bag. I’m just looking for a more portable solution for when I’m not travelling in a car, but something that could be used for gigs. I hate buying stuff that only has one use. Mind you, that crown looks quite cool. Cheers for the heads up.

The Block 800 might be a good idea as it seems small enough to fit in the bag i take, with (in theory) a very similar output. I was looking at (not really for) the Quilter Bass Block, and came across this cheaper version. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_block_800b.htm Just wondered if anyone has used one. Price seems good for a 800watt amp (i know, i know :). The plan woudl be to use it just as a power amp, and rum a Q/strip as the pre amp. Very portable.

Indeed. Im not a fan of the 20mm string spacing that comes as standard with the Squier hi mass bridge, so the 201's are just perfect.

Ive still got my original CV P and CV jazz. Both lovely basses, brought within a year of them coming out. For me the best thing about them is the neck. In fact the neck from the Jazz has been on a few basses ive brought since getting that, although it has spent most of its time on the CV P. I had a VM bass for a while a few years ago and the quality was noticeably inferior, although nothing to worry about at that price. it just felt cheaper (which of course it was). Both my CV basses have Gotoh 201 bridges on them, and neither needed re drilling etc.

Ive seen a good proportion of posts by eunuch's on here as well 🙂

Cant really say about the GSR200, but a new bass doesn't have to be an upgrade as such, just something you feel much happier with. Dont go no specs alone. As other have said, its how it feels and plays in your hands. Ive gigged Squires loads of times and would take those over some higher end basses ive played. In fact i still have a CVP and CV Jazz that are going nowhere.

Oh I agree. To my ears it was very transparent. My point is it just seems like a very limited EQ. Having never played a Sad I can’t comment on how close it can get you but I’d be very surprised if it did anything even close to that on its own.

I had the Sad preamp DI for a year or so. I gigged it loads. I thought it was ‘meh’ and over hyped. It seems very limited and doing nothing a lot of other EQ boxes Or amps can do. I guess if you like the freq points they it will work but to me it was missing a few things. As a bass’s tone comes from a mix of wood and pups etc I can’t see what this brings to the table if you are looking for a Sadowsky tone. Its not a bad DI by any means, and does what it says on the box, but I never heard any magic coming from it like I had been lead to believe.

I love the bass tone Hugh McDonald gets with Bon Jovi. I think this was my first experience in hearing a Sadowsky (i even started a thread about it a (good) few years ago. Must admit I wouldn’t know what one sounds like compared to a similar bass though.

Just reading through this and that post gave me the impression he was talking about in general, not just a personal thing. Its a strange comment to make without more info. Talking about P, PJ, Jazz, all fo them etc?. Very open to interpretation.
