  1. Well to be fair, i said I had the amp flat, not that the tone was flat. I realise all knobs at noon is not always flat, but it does work as a reference point when hooked up to other cabs, or using other basses. Keeps the playing field even. IMO the cab is just part of the tone chain.
  2. I think my problem with my BF cabs was that i didnt have enough mid range. The lows seemed to overpower the rest in both my BF cabs. Not that they weren’t there, just that i didnt find it pleasing. Over the years ive pretty much stuck to P and jazz basses, on the whole. Tend to use my amps mostly flat (although I’m not saying the tone is flat). Ive used many cabs with these heads and basses. I have no idea what true ‘flat’ sounds like, but I do know what i like when I hear it. I just found using the BF cabs produced a low end heavy tone compared to most of what I’ve used. If this is ‘flat’ or ‘neutral’ then it’s just not for me. I firmly believe flat or neutral is not always what its cracked up to be. Finding the right combination is not easy.
  3. Same here. At first it was great, but i started to notice i was tweaking the EQ more, but was never satisfied at gigs with how it projected me. Seemed to lack a bit in the mid range. Maybe I’m just more happy with a cab like my RS212 that does colour my tone more. These ‘flat’ Sounding cabs aren't always a good thing IME.
  4. Thanks for the reply. Ill have a look at those. I just remembered that Seymour Duncan do a set (as i used to have them).
  5. I’m looking to replace the Wizard 74’s i have in my Squier CV Jazz, and noticed they are different sizes. I’d love the Fender CS 60’s but cant find any info about the size. I’m assuming they are both the same. Soooo, can anyone give me some ideas about what sets come as 2 sizes? Ive seen that EMG list a set but I’d like other options. I just cant get any real info from most of the manufacturers websites. Cheers.
  6. Been enjoying their videos a lot recently, They all have an amazing talent (some more than one), but this one i find to be particularly clever. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t heard of them.
  7. I can honestly say i have no idea what any song is about. Never really listen to the lyrics.
  8. Similar rant on No Treble at the moment. Seems slapping is not as popular and cool as a lot YT reviewers think.
  9. Andertons dropped the price just after i paid (not from them) £449 for my RS212 😞 Still, great sounding cab so i dont mind too much. I see Guitar Guitar are doing the same cab for £724.00 . WTF?
  10. Only the headphone out has the roll off. No way to control it or turn it on and off so it makes sense not to have it on the DI. . You cant edit the Tone prints for the SD, so you are stuck with what TCE give you. Agree about the analogue OD's, at least in my limited experience. I have a Joyo OJ and Ultimate drive (my fav drive), although i tend to use my COG 66 as i like the two channel feature.
  11. Have you tried shaking it while its plugged in. See if there is any sign of a signal at the interface. Could be a dry joint.
  12. And we all know what discussion leads to.....GASSSSS
  13. People are discussing it, that's what places like this are for.
  14. Cheers guys. I did try and get a black PG for it but didnt want to pay custom prices. Ive been using it without the PG anyway.
  15. Ive decided to get rid of my 4 month old Jack Casady Bass as I’m not using it much (at all). Everything in the ad was purchased new in Nov 2018. The bass itself came from Andertons. https://www.andertons.co.uk/epiphone-ltd-ed-20th-anniversary-jack-casady-bass-wine-red-nh-ebjcwrnh3?LGWCODE=EBJCWRNH3;56375;6335&gclid=CjwKCAiAiJPkBRAuEiwAEDXZZbR-F_b3-xiX_Y_JPG5LL3XImuYu5deMk45djqWV_kyY4zoA_Ik2IBoCAVgQAvD_BwE This is the red 20th anniversary version, made in 2017, and comes with gig bag, branded strap, certificate. All the stuff the bass came with is included. Ive upgraded the bridge to a Hipshot (original parts also included), this is a Supertone bridge and cost £93 from Bassdirect. This works a lot better than the original bridge, and i like the look better. The old one will slide right back on if ineeded. No holes were drilled as these are direct replacements. The bass is strung with TI Flats. It also has a set of the latest Dunlop strap locks, and ill include a wide leather levy’s strap that i got for this bass as the bass does have some neck dive. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004GF6DXS/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This bass has a fairly unique tone, but does seem to cover a lot of the P bass stuff we are doing, its just tha ti have a P bass i love more. I’ve looked after the bass, so its in very good condition. Its a bit hard to photograph as its so shiny but i cant find any issues on the bass myself. I dont have packaging and dont want to post this anyway, so its collection from central london only I’m afraid. Hatton Garden in the evening /weekend or Southbank area if you want to sit down and try it, otherwise I’m happy to meet up at a station or somewhere mutually convenient in central london to hand it over. Photos taken today. Any more wanted let me know. Not looking for trades at all, as i have my eye in a Sandberg so need the money. Not in a hurry though. Not open to offers too far off the asking price but no harm in asking. Cheers.
  16. Haha my love hate pedal. Never has a pedal complicated my life so much. It can do amazing things with tone, but the problem is that it can only really do one at a time. I’m still trying to get my head around this. Think I’m getting there with it though. A small adjustment makes a big difference.
  17. Ive had the VTBass pedals. The deluxe, the first stomp box and the Di (my fav). Totally different pedals to the SD. Not even worth talking about them in the same sentence IMO. The SD is a solid sounding EQ with a well respected comp, and a not so useful (IME) OD section. Both Tone Prints can be reprogrammed but ultimately each is a one knob effect. The ability to plug headphones and a music player in to it is what attracted me to it. The headphone out has a cab sim tone curve on it which seems to sound better than a direct output.
  18. Dont forget to buy the same amps and effects as well 🙂 I do think you are overthinking it, but thats part of the fun.
  19. Over the years ive had Fralins, Wizard Thumper, Hanson, DiMarzio DP122, EMG GB, generic pups and Fender 62RI (twice). All sounded good, but none stood out as 'better' . The DP122 is probably the one that made the most noticeable difference and its the one i have in my Squier CVP., but since 2015 ive been gigging a Fender Sandblasted P using the stock pup. A change of string brand/type or bass made much more difference to my ears. Even having the same pup in two different basses (which ive done) gives different tones, so i think its a case of not what's best, but just finding out what works in a certain bass.
  20. The first time i ever heard Road Runner and What you gonna do about it were Pistol versions. I had no idea they hadn’t written them at the time.
  21. A few years ago i brought a memory card from Amazon. I was lucky this didnt get lost in the post 🙂
  22. The Commitments film brought a lot of classics to the forefront IMO, inc Mustang Sally 🙂
  23. Agree. High end wood with low end components. If only they would upgrade the hardware it might make these more attractive.
