  1. Not arguing, but pointing out that in the 13 years of constant gigging with my covers band i never once played a venue that provided any back line. In fact i never have. Even as far as a provided PA goes its been less than a hand full, so its always been up to me to get my sound out in to the room. Ive never owned a 410 due to space restrictions, but i have always wanted to as i love using them at rehearsals. Agree about the portability though, i could lift mine up with just two fingers, and out of all the cabs ive owned, this one seemed to be the perfect size for me. Pretty much my feeling. They are good cabs, ive never said otherwise, but having owned two i felt they never lived up to the description on the website as far as out preforming other cabs. They are just another boutique choice IME and they definitely have a certain tone to them, no matter how much the figures say they are flat or neutral.
  2. If we are talking about which box on my board would stay, it would have to be my Line6 receiver, although its not an effect. Without that no one would hear me lol. Seeing as ive brought 3 BDDI's over the past 15 years, im going to go with that as far as pedals go. Nothing else ive owned has managed to stay the distance, and ive been quite happy using just this one pedal when im too lazy to take more (pre-board days though).

Like Danny I always practice at home with headphones, and other than using a Tone print that boosts the high end ive not noticed any extra noise.
  4. Not cheap but ive had a couple from here. https://schneidermusik.de/shop1/advanced_search_result.php/manufacturers_id/3/search_in_manufacturers/1/cPath/397_66_100_1000255
  5. Ok, maybe ‘sorley’ was a bit strong, but when i say lacking, I’m talking about not having the punch and volume compared to the 410 i was using. I’m not talking about the BB2 lacking per say. The 410 had a lot more body compared to the BB2 but i did like the BB2 for a while. I’d also add the same about the Retro 210 i had, although thats off topic for this thread. I have no idea what the model of this old cab was, it was nothing special as far as i know., but it looked old and heavy. I ended up using it over about 4-5 rehearsals, and we record all our rehearsals and even these recordings showed the bass was more prominent in the mix, it’s just had more body. I just couldnt get the kick and overal clean but solid tone from the BB2, even though the BB2 did sound good in isolation. I believed all the blurb about the BB2 on the BF website, but looking back Its too generic and non specific to make for good advice, and i can testify to that. Sure, I’m just one person, but I know of others that feel the same. Its just another opinion at the end of the day though, and people can take or leave the advice (although in a BF thread its more likely that some need to discredit it as well).
  6. With the risk of sounding like like a broken record, the BB2 i had was left way behind when i used a cheap Peavy 4x10 at my rehearsal studio. The BB2 is a great cab, but no way can it put out the same kick and punch as every 410 out there, and in my experience not even a cheap one. Just to be clear, ‘keep up with a 410’? What brands are we talking about there? Exactly what 410’s have been tested next to a BB2? Obviously not the Peavy as ive had first hand experience with that and the BB2 was sorely lacking. Does it keep up with the BF 4x10?
  7. I was going to sell it, purely because i wasn't using it, because i had no space on the pedal board for it. i used it instead of my BDDI the other night at rehearsals and realised just how versatile it is, so i decided i should start using it more. Hence the slightly larger pedal board. If soemthing is on there its getting used, so I won’t be tempted to sell it.
  8. Ah, i didnt realise they were different sizes. Ive just 'upgraded' my Pedaltrain Nano+ to a Metro 16, so i can use both my BDDi and Q/strip on it, but the two boards are the same height.
  9. I forgot about this ad. Ive just brought a couple more splitter leads because I ran out of channels on my DC5, should have got your DC8 instead. Cant believe its still here to be honest. GLWTS.
  10. Id say all the ones that post in the others threads :-) Unless you are actually going to count the posts why not make a poll, otherwise this will just be yet another 1 of dozens of Comp threads. Yes, i use one, no i dont need to.
  11. I thought Plan B sounded good, loved the bass player, not so much the song though. Same for Tower of Power. Listening to those bass lines made me feel very inadequate.
  12. Totally agree about the WM Clubs. Can be really depressing to play, but they pay well. Ive still got contacts with Agents that book these places, so getting the gigs isnt a problem for my new band, but we have decided we will try and avoid them. Even though pubs pay a lot less they are generally more enjoyable. With clubs we tended to find those that sat near the stage (decade after decade) would moan that we were too loud, yet those at the back would shout out for us to turn it up. You really cant win at soem of the clubs My old band actualy got barred from one club because our singer suggested over the mic that those that cant hear us come to the front, and those at the front that wanted to talk move to the back. Basically swap seats. It was said in jest, but those at the front kicked up such a commotion to the Ents. Manager that he had to ask our agent, reluctantly, not to book us again. Over the past 10 years we have seen a huge decline in WMC memberships, its almost as if they are just waiting for thier members to die and then shut shop. Its strange considering the booze is cheap, you get tot see live bands and there is never any trouble. If there was a WMC near me I’d actualy join it for those benefits.
  13. Wow, those headphones really are hard to drive then.
  14. And its having the SD that i know a BH head will work for me. I really did like the SD, its just that I didn’t have space for it on my board and preferred my BDDI as my only preamp.
  15. My Sen HD25’s are 70ohms and bloody loud with anything. With my Zoom B3n i have the master on 18/100 and it’s just right.
  16. Ok, fair enough. I do agree that negative posts can have a negative effect on what the sheep buy lol. Looking on the various Bass forums it does seem that many potential owners feel that TCE need to allow users to edit the tone prints. I suppose that’s quite a big negative on paper, although i wonder how many people really bother to edit these TP pedals. Cameron. The headphone out is very powerful with the right pair of headphones. I had no issues running mine in to my Sen 25’s and never got anywhere near half way on the master output. This was with the Comp set to around 10 o’clock, without the OD engaged. This whole experience has definitely wetted my appetite for a BH550 though.
  17. What are the negative opinions? I know i said it wasnt for me but I don’t think i ever said anything negative about it. I don’t recall anyone else buying one and i doubt very much if any of my posts would put someone off if they needed what the SD has to offer. EDIT: just remembered someone else did buy one.
  18. Ive done a couple of sessions at The Premises recently. They are just off Hackney road. http://www.premisesstudios.com/ There is also Alaska studios just near Waterloo station. This is actually at the end of my road but ive never used them. The problem with central London studios is the traffic. Its a nightmare in the evenings so i tend to go with the flow and rehearse outside of central London. It saves the rest of the band having to come in as it seems easier getting out of london at that time of the evening. Most of the time we rehearse in Acton or better still, at Mill Hill music complex. That would be ideal for the OP's band, other than the guitarist.
  19. I used a first gen 1215 and a first gen 1212L (not together) with my Markbass heads for years. They really are a match made in heaven. These were the only cabs ive owned that i had 100% confidence in that they would be loud enough for any gig. Over that time i tried other cabs but none seemed to be as good as the Schroeder’s. Even now, with a totally different rig I dont have the same confidence.
  20. Hmm, ive never thought about using different picks for different songs. Might have to look in to that. Thanks for the Dava lnk @Cuzzie. ill get some ordered and give them a go. Ive realised my 'issue' with my pick tone comes from me being lazy and always resting my hand on the bridge. This of course gives me a thinner tone. Useful sometime,s but i need to learn how to play without resting my hand on anything.
  21. Not gear, but when our singer fell off the side of the stage at one gig i couldn't stop laughing for the rest of the song. I am not a nice person lol.
  22. Agreed. When we used to play weddings i used to remind the others that the 'audience' weren't there for us, and to accept they dont want to stop socialising and listen to us all night.
  23. I find a lot of people can enjoy the music without having to stare at a band all night anyway. It can get very boring.
