Way Huge Pork n Pickle dual drive/fuzz pedal....any info?
dave_bass5 replied to Thunderpaws's topic in Effects
I know people in the USA have them, but as with most things like this we have to wait a bit longer. I just ordered an AS. Although i could wait for the WH pedal to become available, i have a feeling that even if it does sound as good as the PL (and there is no reason to think otherwise) i will find the AO a bit more versatile, and maybe even find the tone ive been looking for. Its hard to find that when you dont know what it is in the first place lol. I dont want or need fuzz at all, but as with my Zoom pedals it will be nice to try different dirt engines out without breaking the bank.- 57 replies

I’m looking for recommendations for a single bag that will hold my PT N+, and either my MarkBass F1 or GK MB800 head, plus leads, I know i can just get a small rucksack but I’d like something with separate compartments and a bit of padding etc. at the moment i use the PT bag and a small laptop bag for everything else. Just wondering if anyone else uses something similar or has any recommendations.

Anderton’s are advertising they will be in on 14th March, but I’ve never found them to be acurarte. In my case it’s taken so long that I’ve gone of the idea now and am seriously looking into a SA Aftershock instead. Not that I’m not not happy with my PL, but I’m finding I actually use it on a lot of the time, so still need a ‘more dirt’ pedal to go along side it.- 57 replies

Recording rehearsals, mic levels question.
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Accessories and Misc
I think both those units work in the same way as far as recording levels go. Im not getting distortion, the levels are fine, im just wondering if only having the mic level on 3/100 could cause a loss of quality or more nose etc. The recordings are good and solid, its just maybe a bit of OCD. Considering the recorders are advertise as being good for high pressure sound levels i was a bit surprised at how sensitive they actually are compared to my old Edirol recorder. -

I may be reading this wrong, and im probably stating the obvious, but did you use a different lead? for what its worth i have the same head and it works fine without a cab, but on more than one occasion ive got to a gig and turned the head on, only to be greeted with silence. After a while it comes to life (even though the warning light never came on). Did you see any warning light (around the power button i believe) come on? -
It Took Me Long Enough to Discover the Sans Amp
dave_bass5 replied to plangentmusic's topic in Effects
That was the old way, but the current version of the BDDI has a proper Mid control, with two selectable mid freq's. the Low knob also has this feature as well. -
It Took Me Long Enough to Discover the Sans Amp
dave_bass5 replied to plangentmusic's topic in Effects
Yep, same here. about 10 years ago i had to do a big gig without a bass rig. I brought a Behringer BDI21 for this one gig. I used it and then didnt bother with it for ages. a year or so later i got it out to sell it, it and tried it again, still left me cold but i persevered with it for a few gigs, as loads of players were raving out Sans amp's. Then one night, it all just seemed to fall in to place and i immediately went and got a BDDI the next day. After this i just cant play without some sort of pre amp. I felt it was all in the Blend knob. Before, i was using it full up, and while that works at home, it was over powering through a rig, once i turned it down things started to sound great. ive tried to get away form using it over the years, tried a Para driver, been to Darkglass, EBS etc, but always gone back to a BDDI. I dont use it for drive much, but i like the tone it produces. Just recently ive also discovered real distortion/OD, and how useful it can be even when i need a clean tone. Ive been amazed at how something i could never contemplate using, is now getting the tone ive had in my head, which i never realised included dirt. -
Met up with Bas yesterday to hand over my Cali76. Had a nice chat and everything went 100%. Great person to deal with and a top bloke all round.

My guitarist owned a rehearsal studio years ago, and one day when i walked in i saw an old Fairlight sitting against the counter. Turned out it used to be owned by Jeff Wayne. We tried to get it working and although the lights came on it wasn't usable. Shame as there were a load of disk's with it as well and i bet they had some interesting samples on them.

Just sold Chris my VMT and things couldn't have gone smoother. Very fast payment and good comms. Would happily sell him something else in a heat beat lol.

Mine wasnt rubbish though.

Ive got one of those (different make though). I also keep a Speakon to Jack adaptor handy as well. Both have saved the day when our PA went down at a gig and we had to improvise with the monitors.

Yeah, well that's what happens when i try typing on an ipad when ive just downed half a bottle of rum. Thanks for reading all the way through the thread just to point that out though.

Hopefully not for long Ive really been enjoying the Spectracomp this weekend. I’m glad I didn’t sell it now. The Cali is nice but its never really made an impact like the Spectracomp has, twice.
-
I got this back in 2016, then sold it quite quickly on here, and then brought it back again even faster, so although I brought it new, its been passed around. No issues with it, and its in great condition. The second owner took the feet off and put velcro on, which i have replaced with fresh stuff recently. Comes with box etc. Not looking for trades and price is firm. Would prefer a meet up in central london but willing to post for an extra £5, to UK mainland only. Any questions just ask. Cheers.

I got this sometime during the summer last year. Brought new so its still under warranty. Ive used it quite a bit, but other than a small scratch near the foot switch its in perfect condition. Comes with box and all the bits of paper. This is the latest version with the mid control, and to my ears its a lot more versatile than my previous one, I’d prefer a meet up in central london, but willing to post to UK mainland for £5 on top. Not looking for any trades as I’m cutting down on pedals. Price is firm for a week or so. After that ill consider near offers. Any questions please ask away. EDIT: Decided to keep hold of it now, as im not getting any offers close to the asking price, and i expect ill miss it once its gone.

Sort of. I was just saying that i think the Cali would work better in a non live setting FOR ME, due to one being set and forget, and the other easily adjustable for when it really matters, and only if I owned both.
-
Well i do agree with you, i think, I’m not sure what the opening sentence is actualy saying. My point was more that the Cali seems quieter than the Spectracomp, and its easier to sit and tweak the knobs in a studio or at home. With the Spectracomp its quite fiddly to adjust IMO, but it also means its not being played with all the time. The Cali can be tweaked to work with a recorded track a lot easier. I’d always expect a studio to prefer to use their own comps, which will be more adjustable than any box i could take in, but given the choice of my two it would be the Cali.
-
Well that’s your opinion and you are of course more than a entitled to it. Just don’t expect me to agree with it if i feel differently, especially when you make a blanket statement that’s obliviously just your opinon Ive worked with singerss who dont give a toss about the rest of the band, it’s the singer people have come to see and we are just there in the background. .

Just realised why I wasn’t able to beam new tone prints to my TC pedals. The iPhone 8 Plus uses the top speaker, the one you normally put to your ear. It hadn’t dawned on me to try that one until today.
