  1. Well if its on the internet it must be true :-)
  2. Totally agree, i was just generalising, but a good band can turn things around sometimes. Ive seen (and been in bands) playing social clubs and its really hard work if you arent the right band on the night. If you are flexible and want to make the extra effort it can save the night. With my old band we would get very tough audiences, not interested in our set at all, and some members of the band would give up. ‘Sod it, lets just get through this’. Asking the audience if they have any requests and playing those helps warm the crowd up. Being flexible is the key IME. We stopped using set lists years ago, and just go with the flow on the night. You can usually gauge what an audience wants, by what’s not going down well, age, look, type of venue etc. Again, I’m generalising, and of course its not always going to work, but it has worked for me in the past on a lot of gigs.
  3. And i dollars. I’m not sure how many Londoners use that currency lol.
  4. Lol, there is no way thats legit. Love the bit that states ‘we started in 2014’, yet the website copyright says ‘2012’ . Time travelers as well as scammers.
  5. Ive seen so many posts over the years on here, where people are stating they will only play what they want to play and not what an audience wants to hear, that i can understand how little respect a band playing a boring set will get. If you aren’t entertaining an audience what are they supposed to do? As with most things in life, a poor service will get a poor response.
  6. Now sold to Paul. Nice to meet you Paul, hope it works out for you.
  7. First time i saw IH was on the Tube. I was knocked out by the mix and overall tone of the band. Hey Little girl sounded amazing. I 'think' it was Guy on bass, but i wasn't aware of him or the band at the time. Agree with the comments about Guy's book. Its a great read, and in fact the only book ive read in the past 3 decades lol.
  8. Great prices for what i would consider to be the best PSU for using under a Pedaltrain Nano(+). To me thats one of their unique selling points. GLWTS.
  9. I find it easy to tell them apart
  10. I just put my GK MB800 on the floor. I dont tend to need to touch it during gigs once im set up. In the past i have used a pair of small G-Clamps on the front of the cab, with a bungee cord going around the back of the head. Not quite elegant but it did the job.
  11. or got behind the wheel of a car.......
  12. Think you will find Alec didnt record most of those 'classic' bass lines ;-) Hence my comments about him. Agree about the decline though, but that had nothing to do with AJS.
  13. Alex Such Ex- Bon Jovi. I was amazed to see him on stage with BJ, while Hugh McDonald was also playing, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
  14. PM replied to and now on hold.
  15. For sale is my VTBass DI. I got this about 3 years s ago from someone on here, but I don’t really need it anymore. It’s been looked after and has mainly been used at home as an interface for my PC. I don’t have the tin or paperwork, at least not that I can find at the moment, If it turns up ill update the post. Would prefer a central london meet up, but will post for £5 to Uk mainland.
  16. After getting this new from GAK back in Feb, I’ve used it maybe a 5-6 times at rehearsals. It’s lived one my pedal board so has Velcro on it. I still have the feet. The feet go on with screws so ill put those back on before sending. Its in very good condition, as you can see from the photos. I did the John T mod, which involves changing a capacitor to give a more open, clearer tone. This works really well but obviously invalidates the GAK Warranty Comes in box with all the bits of paper work etc. Would prefer a central london meet up, but happy to post to mainland UK for a £5 on top. Not looking for any trades as I’m having a clear out. PRICE DROP TO £100
  17. Gotta love the past eh lol.
  18. Isn't it strange how a pedal (BDDI) that was released so long ago, based on old amps, is considered to produce a modern tone. Still, i love mine. Ive had both the second gen and the V2 with the mid. The Mid control, and the adjustable Freq points really make this pedal a lot more versatile. both as dirt box and an EQ. Back on topic, i went to my mates rehearsal space tonight, as i know they have one of these VTBass heads there. Ive never really paid it much attention before. Had a quick play through an old 4x10 cab. It seems very powerful, more so than just putting a VTBass in front of my amps. Very, very tempted to get one now. im going to take my Vanderkley 1x15 along at some point.
  19. Actually, isnt this back to front? I thought the VTBass pedals could get old school and modern tones, whereas the BDDI is based on the SVT and just variations of it. "The BDD is based on the tone of our Bass Driver DI which has a built in mid-scoop and voiced for more modern playing styles. The VTBD is based on our Character Series VT Bass pedal which is voiced like the Ampeg SVT amp"
  20. Yep, both sound great (i have a VTBass DI and BDDI), but they are definitely not the same thnig. The fact that the amp has a Character knob means its not going to give the same tone as BDDI (and the fact that its called a VTBass lol). Hmmm, i am quite fond of the VTBass tone these days, maybe i should try one of these heads.
  21. Better version of the BDI? Isnt this head based on the VTBass? Not the same thing at all. Nice amp either way.
  22. I really dont need another tuner, but the black does look nice, so i thought why not. I got it for £42 inc delivery so really not much more than the cut down one. No matter how careful i am with my tuners it seems i always have to hunt for one when im in a hurry. I like the idea of using tape to attach it to the back of the headstock. Might give that a go. I will have one for each bass now. Cheers Ped.
  23. Not disagreeing with you at all, just saying that in my experience what sounds great in a shop hasn't always sounded great when used with a band. Id rather have the option to try out in that context and be able to send it back if it didnt work. Still, at least you can get a good idea of what something can do with real hands on testing.
  24. Yep. I was really happy when PMT opened up just down the road, but ive been in there almost dozen times now and they never have what i want, but can get it in.
