1. Thanks, that helps. Ive got a thread on here about replacing my 1212L with something else, and i did buy a BF Retro two10 but felt it was not quite what i was looking for, although definitely in the right direction away from the 1212L Do you find the Compact to be as pokey and loud as the 1212L (from memory of course), or at least able to keep up as the 1212L did. A super compact is top of my list at the moment.
 2. Well i cant really help with the wood differences, but i have the Alder/RW V7 and it definitely has more mid growl than any other Jazz ive owned, inc Alder basses. I believe this combo will be warmer compared to the Ash/maple versions, but cant really confirm it as ive not played any other V7.
 3.
Yep. I had one, a 1212L special in orange. I really liked it to begin with but eventually I found the tone had too much honk. As soon as I noticed that I couldn't see to EQ it out. I have a better amp now but back then I had an Ampeg SVT-IIP into a poweramp, which was all a bit low middy to begin with.
What cab did you replace the 1212L with?
 4.
Im thinking of getting a v7 but not sure whether to opt for ash or alder, is there a lot of difference tonally ? and also can you still use tone control when passive ??
Tone wise the difference is the same as any two basses made from those woods. Passive mode has a working tone knob, exactly as per a standard jazz bass.
 5. I think I prefered the tone my 1210R had over my 1212L, but not the weight. can't go back to anything that heavy again.
 6.
Yes, you should have kept that and sold the 1212L to me.
Dont worry, when the time comes you have first refusal...even though you dont need it ;-)
I had to get my 1515L from a retailer in Sweden, and yes, the 1212/1210/1515 series of angled cabs have the low-mid hump which suits some people's sound more than others. It always amazes me that on here we seem to strive for a panacea which will please everybody and will be the ultimate' cab, as if we all had the same sound requirements for the music we play. It's bananas. There's lots of guys on here whose opinions I respect completely, but it took a while to realise that while they know exactly what they're talking about, what they would consider great I'd probably hate, and vice versa.
Agree. I think what works for some doesn't work for others, and there are so many variables that its easy to make a mistake. I can never tell how something will work for me until i gig it. Even playing at work doesn't really help as everything sounds good at low volume. Its not until i have to play to a room full of people, on a hollow stage, that i can really tell whats going to work.
 7.
And that's the bottom line. Yes, I said 'bottom'. On a Sunday, too.
Sometimes it can be a real bummer though ;-). Ive always thought these cabs have two tones. The loud, middy, cut through on stage sound, great for hearing yourself over everything, and out front more of a deeper, but a bit scooped tone that fills the spaces well. This is great but a lot of my gigs are on small stages where the on stage tone can be just a bit too much full on. Had a gig last night and all i could hear on stage was me, yet in the main part of the pub i was sitting quite low in the mix. Couldn't turn it up and didnt want to re EQ for fear of effecting the out front tone. Crappy pub stage though this wasnt really the norm. Starting tot wish i hadnt sold the RT10 so quickly now lol.
 8.
Why not just turn the mids down for that specific frequency then?! Am I the only person who does this and gets good results?
I think we had this conversation in my 1212L thread. Standing up close is when i find it not ideal. Out front the hump helps shape the tone, and i do like how it sounds halfway down the room. Its just s bit full on up on stage sometimes.
 9. Wish i could get one of those 21012's to replace my 1212L. As for Schroeder's not being mentioned much on here, they are quite difficult to get hold of new. Back when i got my first 1210R i had to order it direct from Jorg. The current 1212L came from SHX music, which is no longer going i believe. I cant think of many places that stock them. Agree about the mid hump though. It drives me crazy BUT it does get me heard no matter where i play, and outfront that mid hump isnt a bad as it is close up. Still looking to replace it, but so far.......
 10.
Nice bass! Welcome to P-land! I couldn't quite understand what you meant here. Do you mean that the Squier CV P pickups are placed differently or have a different profile so can't rest your thumb on them, whereas the fender pickups are different shape or position somehow which means you can do it?
The 50s CVP has a different pup to the 60's CVP.
 11. This looks gorgeous, especially the neck. Ive gone back and forth between P bass for the past 12 years. Sometimes i find them boring but i also love the simplicity of them. If they came with jazz size necks as standard (i mean all, know a few do) id have a lot more basses than i need.
 12. Having sold mine last week i actually think i made the wrong choice, at least as far as going back to my 1212L. GLWTS Jenny, it wont hang around long.
 13. The 60B can also be powered via the USB port. Saves an extra plug and means you can leave the lead plugged in.
 14.
The issues are highlighted when a decent brand shifts production to the far east (like Eden). Cheap components can ruin a hard earned reputation, especially when the price doesn't change.
Yep, CAN being the operative word though.
 15.
Or you could have a pedal assembled in the Far East.........?
End result for the user would be the same so yeah, If it cost less I'm all for that. I do appreciate why the small companies have to charge more, but I feel most of that is for parts and labour, not for better quality that most people can benefit from in the real world. Saying that, I'm not against paying more for something I really want, but I don't always feel I get my money's worth.
 16. Cant wait until Behringer bring out a more affordable alternative ;-)
 17.
I bet if the Darkglass compressor was in a rack unit (for only pennies more metal in the casing) people would be thinking £200 was a bargain. The DG, the Cali, the Empress really are rack units shrunk into pedal format. Making it safe to step on seems to make it have less value for some reason.
IMO those cases that DG use are very cheap to buy, so to be give the impression of cheapness. The look and feel of my DG VMTD was the only issue i had with it.
 18. Id say its a case of fools are easily parted with their money sometimes. We convince ourselves that paying a lot gets us a lot, and if its not mainstream then its even better. Basses and FX (well, comps and overdrives anyway) spring to mind here. You just need to look at all the high end gear that's re sold on here to see that paying more doesn't necessarily get you better.
 19. Are you sure it's the amp and not the speaker?
 20.
Just returned mine to Thomann. Just didn't get on with it. Seemed under-powered, Will continue with the TH500 for the time being.
Thanks Dave. Your not the first person to say this. Since i posted that comment ive got a VTBass DI and over the moon with it, so it, along with my MB F1 head stays. Sold the Darkglass as well.
 21. Yep, i messed up lol. Right. The RT10 has been sold, might try a Barefaced BB2 next. Ive had 4 gigs come in this week (not for this week) so it looks like ill still have a reason to get a new cab.
 22. The cab has now sold, so this thread can be closed if the mods so desire. Thanks all.
 23.
I have this if it is of any use. http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2777497 I think it will fit a 410 deep amp.
Thanks Paul but the one below is exactly what im looking for. GLWTS
2U 420mm rack bag: http://www.flightcas...added-5367-6631 3U version: http://www.flightcas...added-5368-7430
These are perfect, thanks very much for the links. I owe you one :-) 3U ordered, job done.
 24. Thanks. It can be converted to a 12ohm easily enough, although I dont know how much BF charge for the kit.
