New cheap Marcus Miller endorsed range of basses - Sire
Black 5 V7 sat idle in a Thomann basket. Does the wife really need a birthday present this month? Maybe she'd like a bass
If she doesn't like it i supose you could play it, just so it doesn't go to waste eh? White/RW V7 5 sitting in mine. -
I've never been able to use that excuse, only one of my very limited number of mates plays bass...and it sucks
Actually ive only used that once as far as basses goes. She genuinely doesn't notice what I'm playing. I did tell he about the last bass I got and she said the usual "you don't need another bass", "what are you going to do with the others?" etc etc. -
But I bet the information has been logged and stored for retrieval at the appropriate time.
Nah, all my basses are on loan from mates ;-). Gavin, that's a lovely bass, congrats. Looks forward to hearing more about it when you have had a good play. -
Best play safe and go for white
To be honest i could turn up with a twin neck and she wouldn't notice. She has never commented on any new bass (or camera etc) that has appeared. no matter what colour. I do like the White though. It reminds me of my old Fender MIA P5 but nicer. But the black reminds me of my Lakland DJ5, and the SB reminds me of the of........
Haha will try just for you dave
Please do, although im hoping for the worst lol. I have the white in the basket on Thomanns, just waiting for the bad news. -

Nice one. fingers crossed its a keeper. I have no issues at all ordering from Thomanns, their returns are very good. I purposely left my credit card at home today, but i can see me ordering one over the weekend. If the gig goes well on Sat then ill order one on Sunday. Black or white, it will be at the toss of a coin now (although if i get the white one the GF wont notice a new bass lol) -

Sounds great. If I could decide on the colour I'd order one right now. -
Yes, I assumed that all active passive basses could do the same, however they may not I suppose. From what I remember my previous active passive bass could go without the battery and I've got a Yamaha TRBX504 which as you know will work with no battery. I should find out soon re. the MM v7
Yes, I beleive some just take the active EQ out of circuit, but still use the preamp. Not a big deal breaker though, but would be nice to know as I tend to forget to unplug between sets sometimes. Looking forward to your views etc. -
It has an active passive switch, so if the battery does go you just switch it to passive. I personally think all actives should come like that. EDIT: just noticed you've got a TRBX505, so you'll know all about that
Well yes and no. My TRBX is the first active bass ive owned that will run in true passive mode, without even needing a battery in it. Other active basses ive had haven't worked like this and if the battery died so did the bass. Maybe this wasn't the norm though. So while I understand the active/passive switch I'd still like confirmation that it does indeed work as above. Gettting very close to ordering the White/RW V7 though. -
Good work! 4 or 5 ? Do let us know what it's like - really keen hear a comprehensive BC review.. Current plan pulls the trigger on a 5 late March. Still can't decide what finish..
Same here. I love the look of the black one, its just perfect, but i love the white one as well. Damn, Only things i dont like are the headstock and bridge. i can live with both but the bridge looks a bit cheap to me (cheaper than it obviously is of course) Too those who have ordered one, when doing a review could you please see if the bass will run without a battery in it. Im very paranoid about pre amps going dead on me at gigs. -

Wow, just fallen in love with the White/RW AND 3TSB. Bugger. gazza, please hate your bass ;-) -
I honestly thoght you were being ironic in the first post, and then you went and blew it!
Why? Because I have an option that differes from others in this thread. Is it only bass players that have this high and mighty attitude I wonder? I understand some people hate certain songs, I have no issue with that, but why do some make blanket statements that something someone else likes is crap? What gives certain people the feeling that they know better than others? If these songs weren't so popular we wouldn't have to play them. But then the general public are idiots and have no idea what they should like aren't? No having a go at you personally, it just gets my goat when I'm told by someone better than me that what I like is wrong ;-)
Good god, we obviously have very different ideas of 'great to play' Just like Mustang Sally!
Well yes, but we get paid to get audiences up and dancing, and they too seem to love these songs so i dont see how they can be as bad as you say they are.
-
That really is a godawful turd of a song. Brown eyed girl is f***ing terrible too.
I love those two songs. They are great songs to listen to and play. They always get the audience up and dancing (which is what we get paid to do after all).
-
So I was thinking about songs I'd played. I was in one band who's set list included: Cant Get You Outta my Head - Kylie Lyin Eyes - The Eagles The band included Brits, Yanks, a Jap, a Phillipino and a Russian and the audience was even more diverse and seemed to enjoy this rubbish. God I hated playing those songs. Anyone got any similar skeletons in the closet?
God, what on earth were you thinking trying to please an audience. Its really not the done thing on here ;-)

Good luck. It's a brilliant device. Wish I still had mine.

Nice one on the 2i2 choice. Mines been rock solid since I got it. I notice there are new versions out but they don't seem to offer much in the way of new features. I normally use Sonar so can't comment on the included software. I do actually have the full pro version of it but ive never installed it. I know my way around Sonar so I stick with that.

My son loves mine, although he is now more interested in keyboards. Ive had mine for years, Got it new from Music Yo when they were still trading. i have never gigged it but do enjoy playing on it every now and then. Ive had 3 Spirit basses, the other two were 5 sting versions of the classic Steinberger basses. I know its not cool to say it but i really like the EMG slects, very warm and punchy.
There's a moral there somewhere...
Yep, you pay more if brought from a shop ;-)

Neither of my CV's have had any issues with pots or wiring (that i haven't caused). In fact my 7 year old CV Jazz has the smoothest pots ive ever used.
No I'm giving up with Thomann, getting a refund. They seem to have all the dodgy Squier stock! Yes they ship from Germany. I might go to a local shop instead but this experience has put me off F/S so I'm having a rethink.
Would it be worth opening it up and seeing if its just a lose wire? I know you shouldn't have to, and principles being what they are i can understand your feelings, but if its an easy fix then it saves the hassle of getting refund and going off to the shops.

When we supported Showaddywaddy a few years ago we were very surprised to see they had a rack of Squiers. Not sure what to make of that but there's a joke in there somewhere i expect.

That happend to me late last year. Went form a white 4 string Jazz to a brown 5 string Yamaha, only the drummer noticed.
