Oooooh, now that looks nice. Good price as well. Cheers for that. Ill do some researching over the next few days. I know their power amps are very well respected but ive not read much about their bass heads.

Definitely no wow factor for me, but Ive only got the one gig under my belt so far. I don't think I'd loose too much if I sold it, but if I find it does work out then I don't mind that it cost that much.

I have a feeling you are on the right track, but I really don't want to get rid of my cab if I can help it. And I don't drive so getting around with things is tricky. I really think I just need a temporary change, after all I've used the same rig for a few years and never had any complaints. I'd hate to move the cab on and then find out I'm still not happy so I want to try other avenues first. I'm still thinking about the GK Fusion but want to try out one or two more pre amps first. There is just something about a certain freq range In the mids that's bugging me. If I can figure out what it is and how to control it I think I will settle down again. I thought a Paradriver would fix things but I could never settle with that, always tweaking things. I'm going to borrow Fran's VTBass for a gig, and see how that goes again, and if I like what I hear I'll get a VTBass DI and try that. The thing with the Darkglass is it's a lot of money for what is really only a subtle effect (in my case).

These are the ones i use for my Flash guns, Digital recorder, Zoom etc. Anything that has a higher current usage. Well, im not sure that worked. I had a feeling that buying something like the Darkglass might not be what i was looking for. Although it sounded ok i spent a bit of time trying to get it to sound like my BDDI, which sort of defeats the object of spending this sort of cash to replicate what i already have. Only had one gig with it so far, and not giving up on it for a gig or two more, but im now back to wondering what else to try. VT Bass DI is now looking interesting, but i have a feeling im just not getting on with the basic tone, and adding a bit of warmth/dirt etc is not the answer.

I just found the foot switches were too close together for my big feet. I used it with Comp/BDDI and either a chorus or filter effect. The first two were on all the time. I would turn them all off between sets though, and the gigs i used it on were no more than 3x45 min sets each. I always use the high capacity Eneloop batteries, and find they do a great job.

I did 4 gigs with mine on batteries. No issues with it running down.

Yes, that was expensive, but this was also a custom pick guard. I had to send my existing one for them to replicate as well as the DJ5 is a none standard fit. I was very happy with the quality though. Spot on and it felt expensive (if that's possible for a 3 play BWB pick guard). I must abmit I didn't really look around too much. If it had been a standard Fender copy I'm sure I could have got one for less.

I got one from Sims Custom shop a few years ago. I was having my Lakland DJ5 converted to a PJ by the Gallery, so i got the correct sized PG from them and let the Gallery cut the pup hole out. It wasnt cheap (around £40 IIR) but it was a very high quality PG anyway. http://www.simscustom.com/

When I last saw my Black JV P it had all gold hardware (Schaller), as well as a SD 1/4 pounder and a mirror scratch plate (which I actually still have). I suppose I should not have messed around with it but back then it was my gigging bass and I felt it needed, or at least I wanted, those upgrades. Nice to see some untouched basses floating around still.

Is there any concrete proof Dolly was miming earlier? I've seen a lot of posts on line that suggest the audio was out of sync on thre broadcast, and that the organisers wouldn't let this sort of thing happen. Just asking. I saw a few numbers and although I thought her voice was a bit low I didn't notice anything else wrong.

As a huge Blondie fan from the past I had to turn skip through most of it. I really did enjoy the guitar solo in Atomic but I really don't like Debbie's voice anymore. I never rated her as a partially musical singer, but she had a certain charm about her, but I thought she looked uncomfortable and can't find any music in her voice three days. Also didn't like the growly bass tone but then I was watching it on my ipad. EDIT. Song title corrected to Atomic.

That was the video that sold me on getting one....only didn't, but i almost did.

We ( the whole family) actually watched the whole Metalica set last night. I was interested to see them but not a fan, my kids hadn't heard of them and the GF just wanted to hear Sandman. Actually quite enjoyed it and was surprised we went the distance. I also thought Robert Plant was good. I haven't been able to listen to his recent stuff but liked what he played last night, especially Whole Lotta Love. I used to be a huge Blondie fan but had to skip through most of it. I've never rated Debbie as a good singer, although she had a certain charm, but can't really listen to her these days, especially not live. Loved the guitar solo in Heart of glass though (I think it was that song). Wasn't keen on the growly bass tone though. We caught some of the Jack White set and my youngest commented "why aren't they all playing the same song". Made us chuckle and I understood what he meant. Going to catch up on the rest over the next few days.

VMTD arrived today, thanks to Bass Directs's fantastic service (and price). Looks like this will do the trick. It's a lot more configurable compared to the BDDI, and much less coloured. I won't get a chance to try it through a rig until the 5th, but I have a feeling there will be a BDDI I up for sale soon. Thanks again for all the suggestions and help, hopefully this will cure my rig GAS for another few years.
