Sounding great is what its all about at the end of the day. I must admit im not over the moon with how my Fralin sounds, even though i know most people love this pup. I think im definitely going to change pups in my PJ again, but i might as well wait now until the GBZ set are out.

[/quote] Well the Lakland does have EMG's in them so maybe its a bit closer to the real thing that it used to be. Im not sure if there were stock when the bass was first released. You dont hear much about Selects these days. Im not sure why though. I guess they are budget versions of more expensive pups and get the same reaction as Squier basses. I tend to associate them with a modern, hi fi tone. i guess that comes form me using them back in the 80s in at least two white headless basses lol. Ive never really considered getting them since i got back in to playing.

[/quote] I wouldnt worry too much, im sure most of that tone in the video is coming from his playing and rig. After all, he hasnt always used them. On the subject of EMG's i dont think ive ever owned a proper one, but I have had quite a few basses with thier Select pups in that i really liked. In fact my headless bass has two Select humbuckers in it and i love the tone from that.

I was looking at that Lakland bass earlier and noticed it had EMG's on it. This seems quite a departure for Lakland. I wonder if these are the same pups.

Yeah, not what you might expect from EMG IMO. I dont have a need to sound like Geezer but its definitely a tone i can work with. Price looks pretty reasonable (based on the USA price of course).

It seems its not the noise itself, but the volume of it that is the issue. Noise pollution is not something that most will tolerate these days, and a lot of places are having to compromise by getting sound meters in. Its not ideal for anyone but if this venue is so close to peoples homes they should do whatever it takes to bring the noise down. These houses have been built close to the venue, and people will live in them. its a sign of the times im afraid. A compromise has to be made.

Signed, even though i live in London and cant here it lol. I do think if a music venue is operating in a close residential environment they should be made to do as much as possible to ensure the noise is not an issue for those that choose not to want to hear it. I do hope they can stay open but its not so silly that someone wants a quite home.

I brought the cable when it first came out. Its over priced although it works The problem with it is that its just an input, and takes over the headphoe socket. So although it works fine for a tuner you cant hear anything back so usless for recording.

I hated the iRig interface when i had one. It seemed very noisy and not at all what the ad's promised. I was forever having to adjust levels and my playing style just to get a useable tone. I splashed out on the JAM, its not cheap but it was much nicer to use and a lot more fun. The tone is a lot more solid sounding, and with less latency. I can understand you not wanting to pay that much, i was the same, butt he hassle the iRig caused almost made me give up on doing this sort of thing. I love the Apmkit software, it has some really good rig and IMO its the best of the lot if you are looking for authentic tones, although the GK app is pretty nice as well. Since getting my ZoomB3 ive not touched the JAM, but now i have a new ipad and iphone it doesn't fit anyway.

The 5 string CA would be the first choice, the blue is just something id like at some point so im not too worried at the moment.

Actually thinking about it my issue isn't so much the pickgiard, it's that slider switch as well. It reminds me of a cheap guitar.

What's all this about a tone control on a bass, is this a new thing lol. Must admit I like the slight bass boost you get with the traditional wiring, and when I got my last HW-One Bass I was all set to re wire it to take it back to traditional, but I actually found it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and I fact I found the lack of that low end mud a bit easier to control on hollow stages. IME it's only a very subtle difference, although it's definitely audible. Way off topic but what is the Ti flats reference about?

Yes, I found my SBMM Ray34 a lot more comfortable than the SUB I had, although given the choice I wish I had kept the SUB now.

MY Squier VM PJ with a BWB plate on. IMO this is the best for a 3TSB, i dont like Tort unless its on a white Jazz. so i was over the moon that this came as standard. Yep. I got a BDI21 a few years ago when I had a one off gig without a rig. Big PA and big monitors so I thought what the hell, I'll sell it afterwards. I actually ended up keeping it, and although I did try it at a few gigs with my rig I really didn't get on with it. It was only a few years later when I decided to sell it that I tried it again, just to make sure it was working. This time I backed the blend knob off and bang, there was that tone that I had been looking for. Since then I've not really looked back. I only really got the BDDI as like the look of it, and as it sits on my amp I have no need for a foot switch looking device. I did have some time with a Parardriver last year but as good as that was it just didn't do it for me. Not sure if it's been mentioned but there are actually two versions of the BDDI, a MKI and MKII. The MKII has more switches on it and is more versatile as far as outputs go. Then of course there is the programable version.

I think we will have a few months wait yet but I dont see why we won't get them. It does seem like the cost of the SBMM range has jumped up since the first models came out (I paid £450 for my ray34), I'd expect these to be closer to £800 so probably won't sell too well over here.
