The SB14 is based on the EBMM Sterling i believe. It does differ quite a bit as far as electronics and pup goes, From the description for the SB14. A 3rd Hum cancelling phantom coil zaps all the noise out and allows for series, parallel and true single coil operation with no hum. Check out Ed Friedland's video review of these basses and you will get a better idea of how they differ. The SB14 is also made of Basswood. EDIT; Here you go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67Fo7AKwfA0&feature=plcp&context=C47088faVDvjVQa1PpcFN3Fr-my2d8eoRpprVh_fS13f2rFZ6Znyk%3D
to me at least, the sound capabilities of the Dingwalls made me feel unsatisfied when playing my Ernie Ball basses (Stingray 5 / Big Al 5 / Bongo 5 & 25th Anniv. 5) as they all sounded like indonesian cheap copies in comparison and I am not kidding,
Imagine how i felt when i got home after playing yours and plugged my Squier in
Just got back from being on tour with Paul Weller, supporting him at The Roundhouse in Camden. Whole week was a blast and such a wonderful venue. The entire crew were so helpful and friendly and looked after us no end. A few celebs were there over the course of the week including Noal Gallagher, Bobby Gillespie to name a few but the best was Jay from Inbetweeners. So wanted to say clunge but probably very un-original. Anyway, the EBS Reidmar 250 and Classic 112 was simply awsome. Here are a few piccies.
Glad they went well Michael. Must have been a fantastic week for you. Its nice that things are going well now. Ill be ordering a copy of the album when i get paid this week.
Just played first gig with my new band 'All The Queens Ravens' at the Hootananny in Brixton, a fantastic, lively multi-cultural venue. We did a 40 minute set and I played all but one song. We got a great reception from the typically-big big crowd at the Hootananny and the rest of the band were really chuffed. Still buzzing! Good thing the adrenaline kicked in as I flew in to UK this morning from Brazil and am very jet-lagged
Nice one Clarky, seems like the new band are keeping busy.

Just a heads up, Strings Direct are doing these tuners (Mini Headstock) for £14.62 inc delivery at the moment.
-
Nah, its this one :-) When i got my CVP (with Lakland neck, no logo on it) out at the gig last weekend someone pointed out the SB sticker on the headstock. Im not 100% sure who it was that put it there but i have an idea.....
The Fender Precision is the perfect bass for me and my needs. At those prices my next one will have Shuker written on the headstock.
My current P has Sponge Bob on the headstock, waaaaay cooler

I normally keep one or two Eneloop's in my gig bag and take a freshly charged 2900mAH rechargeable or two to each gig. I find i can get two long gigs out of each but i tend to always charge before the gig (excerpt this one time) Unfortunately my son got some night vision goggles for Christmas and had been using my batteries without telling me so all were dead.
Holy c**p, £1,400 from a Fender US Standard bass? That's only £100 less than what I paid for my Status.
As far as i can see they are not £1400 but top price on the link posted on here is £1121. Not cheap but not as much as some people are saying.
However, given that you can pick up a Classic Vibe Squier for 25% of that price, what tangible benefit do you get for paying so much more?
Well for one thing you aren't forced to buy a bass in a horrid colour, i really hate the colours the CVP's come in. They do sound different though. I had some MIA Jazz basses a while ago and they sounded a lot better to my ears than my CV Jazz.

I did my first gig in a few years without my wireless set up last week and it felt strange. I couldn't get out front to help with the sound check and i hated how my lead kept touching my leg (no, not the end of the world but i didnt like it) and i kept standing on it. I find one AA battery gets me through a 3 hour gig, but only if its charged up before hand

In case no one noticed this thread is almost a year old. It seems like the OP went for a Laney Linebacker PL65 combo. Still a good discussion though.

I wonder what a Nina Hagen and Bjork duet would sound like

Calling all iPad Garageband users - a few questions for you?
dave_bass5 replied to visog's topic in Accessories and Misc
The best you can get on the iPad version of GB is a piano roll editor. -
we had our first in 6 weeks last night. Nothing to write home about but it was the first time ive had to use cables rather than my wireless system (rechargeable didnt recharge properly). It felt really strange. It was also the first time in years that ive used a floor pedal, and combined with the extra 30ft of cable around my feet it was a bit of a struggle.

iPad Rig - is there a floor board to use with amplitube?
dave_bass5 replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I suppose though if you timed it with the guitarists tune ups it wouldn't be so bad
With my band i'd have time to check my Facebook and email, do some tweeting and look at porn between each song -
Going from the alseis website http://www.alesis.com/ampdock
"The Power of iPad The AmpDock gives you all the controls you need to use your favorite guitar apps while performing or recording. Fire up apps like GarageBand, AmpliTube or JamUp, and use AmpDock's controls to instantly switch between your presets or activate effects" This is confusing as i know my copy of Amplitube wont recognise anything plugged in to the dock connector, and there are many posts around the net saying the same. I know IKM are supposed to be working on this, maybe they have already but hadn't last time i looked (and no updates have been flagged on my iPad). -
Jazz vs Precision sound - what's the difference
dave_bass5 replied to Fat Rich's topic in Bass Guitars
Seems to me the sound you get to hear is a combination of the bass, the amp, the recording set up and possibly the most important is actually the technique and style of the player. Go on, shoot me down in flames.......I'm already bailing out!
I've always thought the same. We can here a difference when we play them but in a mix its sometimes impossible to tell, which to me means it doesn't really matter. -

Ah right, i was going on the fact that Nigel mentioned amplitube in the first post, and as far as i know that wont work with a dock connection.
