1. Yeah. After watching the demo video a few times, and really liking the Bruce Foxton tone he gets im sure it would be very handy. It looks like im sticking with the CVP for the time being so i might as well pimp it out a bit more.
2. I really fancy getting a P-Retro and while i know i can PM John i thought it easier to ask here first. I cant imagine any issues but without taking the PG off i dont know what the dimensions are in the bass, and knowing Squier it may be different to a normal Fender P. Cheers.
3. We played at Minhead a few years ago supporting Showaddywaddy, best gig we have every done. Very professional crew and it was a 18's and over weekend so lots of hen parties etc.
4. That active OLP looks lovely. It's funny but I didn't realise the black SUB uwas a 5 string lol. Still fancy it though. My CV jazz is on the table if you do fancy it. It's got a set of Wizard 74's in it and a Gotoh 201 bridge, although I still have the stock bits as well.. It would be quite strange If I did end up with a SUB for my jazz (plus cash your way of course) as I swapped my much loved HW1 jazz for my a SUB a few years ago on here. I'm sure you wont have any trouble selling it outright though, you don't see many of these come up. God luck with all the basses.
5. I;d love this bass. I had a green one for a while and regret selling it a few years ago. No money im afraid, unless you want a Squier CV thrown in ;-) Shame you have to break up such a nice collection of basses.
6. Has anyone played at the Emirates Stadium (with a band, not on the pitch)? We have a gig there on Sat afternoon and im guessing its going to be a nightmare get in.
7. Im using Chromes at the moment as well. I've also got a set of TI's. To me the Chromes are closest to round wounds but with that flats thump. I tend to use the Chromes as transitional flats, when im bored with round wounds but dont want to jump straight to the TI's. In fact i rarely use the TI's now. I really miss the tone of a nice new set of nickels so i tend to go back to rounds after a month or two, sometimes less.
8. Im not sure ive seen a silver ABM300. I know they do a 500watt rack mount version. Could it be a MAG?
9. LOL, its just struck me, most of that old stock probably belonged to Gareth at some point ;-)
10. An earlier thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/166112-sterling-by-musicman-sub-basses/ A white one will be mine this year :-)
11. The singer in my old band somehow managed to sing Wonderwall over the end of this song, just for laughs :-(
12. I cant fault their CS either. We brought a B stock LED par can and its gone wrong twice, each time Thomanns have paid for us to send it back and re sent it out. It only cost £38 originally.
13.
I have never ever seen or heard anyone ever complain about thomman.
There are a few on here but i have nothing but praise for them and will use them whenever i can.
14. I lie the look of these basses. Im very tempted to pick up a unloaded body off ebay and make my own version.
15.
Is that instead of the sterling by musicman range?
No, its still the Sterling by Musicman range, just not a SR or Sterling copy.
16.
Ha! post up some clips on here and get a thousand honest opinions!
.....and all completely unbiased ;-)
17. Actually both are 9.5". I really must try one as i think other than the CV Jazz all the VM's look nicer.
18. CV for me as well. Ive got both the P and Jazz. The big attraction for me was the necks and vintage style frets. You dont get many basses that have these at this, or double the price point. Tone wise, well i cant really comment as ive changed the pups on both my basses but im not sure there would be a huge difference. There are many, many posts about both ranges on here, but i feel i see more love for the CV's.
19.
I am known for being pretty picky in my number 1 band so I pointed out a few ways I thought we could up our game. I have to say I was a bit surprised when I got 2 mails from 2 members who did not see the point I was making and said essentially that as a predominately pub band that made x amount of £'s on a gig, they weren't going to put any more effort in as we were as good as we needed to be. I could have replied..that is why we are just a pub band but have resisted so far. So, the question is, would you want to be as good as you could be with a reasonable amount of work, or would you say you are good enough for the local standard and that will do...??
Thats pretty much the opinion of the rest of my band. We get gigs, we get paid so why put more effort in and spend out more money. I record all our gigs and upload copies but i dont think any of them actually bother to listen to them.
20. Yes, the Apogee is more expensive and I personally dont think it's worth it in terms of what it is and it's build quality. Saying that it is worth getting something that will do the job and after having the iRig (twice) I felt spending the extra to get something I felt was usable was worth it and I find I use it a lot more because the sound quality and latency doesn't put me off. For me the Tascam is overkill but I guess if you do expect to do a lot of multi intramental recording it might be worth it.
21. It looks like its made out of wood
22.
My favorite Schroeder !!
Mine too by the sound of it, and ive never played one lol. Thanks for sparking some GAS ;-) Good luck with them.
23. I had one of these, i really miss it but dont have any funds to buy this. I agree about the low B. Just as good as my Laklands were IMO.
24. Ive tired a few interfaces and think Apogee JAM is one of the best, certainly better than the headphone input type. Latency and signal level is greatly improved over something like the iRig. Garage band is great but for just practising along with tracks i love AmpKit. I found this to be the best as far as control over the tone, and the ability to play along with tracks without having to import them. They recently released a Trace Elliot head for it and i feel this is the best head so far (Bass amps seem to be lacking with all these amp sim apps). I also have the GK one, although i have the paid for version as it has the EQ section. I just dont really like the GK tone at the moment so dont use it. Everyone should have GarageBand, its a jack of all trades and master of some. Considering the amount of instruments and amps it comes with i would expect it to sell for a lot more than it does.
